    The number of conversations I've had with homeless people throughout my years is amazing. I live in Miami and in my early twenties me and my friend would go to South Beach pretty much every day and still stay out until 2 or 3 AM just chatting with homeless folks. We'd literally sit there at the beach right in front of the surf and chat with them. The amazing stories they had to tell... There was also this homeless guy who lived near my former place of work who always had the best stories. Smelled horrible but still an awesome dude. Said he chose to be living the way he does and has no regrets. I would just stand there before starting work in the morning and listen to what he had to say. Bro legit survived 2017 hurricane Irma stashing himself at the back of our store inside a cardboard box. Mad kudos, man.

    there actually is a rumour (not in the Bible) that a man (Jew) named Cartopholes was cursed by Jesus on his procession to Calvary. That Jesus stopped to rest and Cartopholes basically told him to stop being lazy and move on, so Jesus said "I'll go, but you must stay until I return" - I always thought that would make a great movie - especially if he changed his name to the Count of St.Germain...

      isn’t that a pretty popular theory about St Germaine?

      Cartopholes is the same character as this Ahasuerus in this movie. He has many names. The general term is “Wandering Jew”.

    • @films_123
      @films_123 ปีที่แล้ว +74

      I believe he told Jesus he could not rest at his house as he passed through to Calvary with the cross. He instead told Jesus, callously, that Jesus could rest at the house on his way back. Of course realising then crucifed men do not come back. So Jesus, told him to wait for his return. In other words the second coming. So, hence the "Wandering Jew" who is waiting for Jesus to return.

      That's stupid. Jesus never cursed anybody, but became a curse for us so that we could be redeemed. Galatians 3:13

      @films_123 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      @@TulsaSooner1979 As the original note says, it is not from the Bible. It is a myth story, connected to the Calvary event, whereby a man was said to be immortal. In that story, Jesus replied to the refusal to let him rest, “I go, and you will wait till I return.”

    This reminds me of the Eternal Mercenary stories "Casca" From Wikipedia: "Casca is a series of historical fantasy novels created by author Barry Sadler in 1979. The stories revolve around the exploits of Casca Rufio Longinus, the Roman legionary who drove the Holy Lance into the side of Jesus Christ on Golgotha (the blood and water ran down the spear and made contact with him). As a result of this action, Casca is cursed with immortality, and he is to wander the Earth aimlessly, always as a soldier, until the Second Coming. The character is loosely based on the Longinus legend of Christianity. "

      Yes, Casca is an interesting series of paperback books. I believe Jesus said that since he was a soldier, he would always be a soldier until His Return.
      In one book, Casca was brought in by medics torn apart with injuries he sustained in a Vietnam firefight. Docs took X-Rays and found ancient arrow heads still inside his body. The docs left to confer. When they came back, Casca was gone.

      *Just my thoughts*... I have a feeling that "this" (making movies about history), may confuse people 1000 years from now, about actual history "what actually happened". That may also explain why we can't find any of these holy artifacts of infatuation from the public. Because some of it is metaphorical, and anything related to science back then was looked at like magic or supernatural, it would have been destroyed if found. If Jesus did live, he was a man like me and you, but he cared soo much about people that even as he was pinned to a big wooden cross, he forgave the world for it's sins. He must have also seen what I see in the world, that everyone changes in time, that some learn from their mistakes before it's too late. "God punishes you when you die from your own mistakes." Sinning is bad because (sin) is any action that can hurt you or someone's else, physically and/or mentally. Not everyone is your enemy, matter fact your enemy is sometimes your friend. The 10 commandments are just life advice that you should atleast think about. God is the manifestation of all the good in the world, not a man watching you over your shoulder. Jesus died on a cross because he cared. That is Godly! I'm not religious but I can admit he was a good guy. I hope that I'm half the man he was, when I die.

    This is a movie that made me think. I love having conversations with homeless people. The best stories. He cursed himself by saying when you get back you can lean on my house to rest. How many times did we have an interaction with a person and it was one of GOD's angel or a fallen one. I make it a point to look into peoples eyes. Some will bring you chills others will warm your heart.

      You are attempting to draw blood from a stone.
      Further, the idea of God which can be succinctly expressed as the creator of the universe which exists in an unknown state apart from that universe is an unfalsifyable idea. For example, one can interpret as the other guy being his twin, and as for the other guy looking in the mirror could have been a trick of the mind after hearing the story. The man from Earth 2007 film did it better because at the end the reveal was not vague and not unambiguous unlike this one.

    This Story is a misconception from the Bible from John 21: 20-24 🤔
    20 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”)
    21 When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
    22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”
    23 Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”
    24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.
    According to this the homeless man must be John himself not Ahasverus, and the discussion isn't that interesting at all, a couple of poetry album sayings some students could have wrote down 😬 sounds like two atheists try to talk about the faith and one is more open minded than the other... 🤔

      If you lived 2000, when you got rich, you'd soon find out money becomes meaningless after you get it, with millenia of experience, you'd soon start living like a cynic.
      Life is an interesting thing, when we're young, we chase after meaningless things to make us happy, after we achieve it, we realise we never needed those things.

    I've often thought of what happened to "those standing among you now, that shall not die until they see me coming in the clouds" one would think they would know each other.
    I also wondered when someone would began to claim to be of those people.
    Hummm interesting story but he would have the original DNA of the original Jews not the converts that came later.
    This is how religious stories get started. Man would rather create a lie then seek the truth.

    Barry Sadler, a Special Forces soldier from Vietnam who wrote "Ballad of the Green Berets" also wrote a whole string of great books about a Roman soldier who mocked and poked Jesus with his spear on the cross and got the same curse. Except Casca would be a soldier until Jesus returned.
