  • The story is about a meeting between a young successful guy and a seemingly ordinary vagrant who claims to be none other than Agasfer - a legendary character who, according to legend, is doomed to wander the earth from century to century until the Second Coming of Christ. Unexpectedly, the vagrant turns out to be quite an interesting interlocutor, and the guy decides to find a weak spot in his seemingly unbelievable story. But it turns out that to do this is not easy at all.

there actually is a rumour (not in the Bible) that a man (Jew) named Cartopholes was cursed by Jesus on his procession to Calvary. That Jesus stopped to rest and Cartopholes basically told him to stop being lazy and move on, so Jesus said "I'll go, but you must stay until I return" - I always thought that would make a great movie - especially if he changed his name to the Count of St.Germain...

I believe he told Jesus he could not rest at his house as he passed through to Calvary with the cross. He instead told Jesus, callously, that Jesus could rest at the house on his way back. Of course realising then crucifed men do not come back. So Jesus, told him to wait for his return. In other words the second coming. So, hence the "Wandering Jew" who is waiting for Jesus to return.

This reminds me of the Eternal Mercenary stories "Casca" From Wikipedia: "Casca is a series of historical fantasy novels created by author Barry Sadler in 1979. The stories revolve around the exploits of Casca Rufio Longinus, the Roman legionary who drove the Holy Lance into the side of Jesus Christ on Golgotha (the blood and water ran down the spear and made contact with him). As a result of this action, Casca is cursed with immortality, and he is to wander the Earth aimlessly, always as a soldier, until the Second Coming. The character is loosely based on the Longinus legend of Christianity. "

*Just my thoughts*... I have a feeling that "this" (making movies about history), may confuse people 1000 years from now, about actual history "what actually happened". That may also explain why we can't find any of these holy artifacts of infatuation from the public. Because some of it is metaphorical, and anything related to science back then was looked at like magic or supernatural, it would have been destroyed if found. If Jesus did live, he was a man like me and you, but he cared soo much about people that even as he was pinned to a big wooden cross, he forgave the world for it's sins. He must have also seen what I see in the world, that everyone changes in time, that some learn from their mistakes before it's too late. "God punishes you when you die from your own mistakes." Sinning is bad because (sin) is any action that can hurt you or someone's else, physically and/or mentally. Not everyone is your enemy, matter fact your enemy is sometimes your friend. The 10 commandments are just life advice that you should atleast think about. God is the manifestation of all the good in the world, not a man watching you over your shoulder. Jesus died on a cross because he cared. That is Godly! I'm not religious but I can admit he was a good guy. I hope that I'm half the man he was, when I die.

He probably helped build it as a young person and then times got tough he got homeless and went back to a familiar place. Quite extraordinary. Id love to hear the stories of regular folks throughout time. Wish we could talk to the people who built the pyramids, the un named roman legionnares, the nurses from the great war. Sometimes i wish we could talk with peoples long gone about how they think the future would've happened.
I often watch the old recordings the 1st cameras made and i see all the people on their separate journeys captured forever in a split second. Tend to wonder how their lives went, what they were thinking and what they were doing.

I am going through all the comments trying to make sense of it and your one seems to make sense I feel they should have explained it more. For example, one can interpret as the other guy being his twin, and as for the other guy looking in the mirror could have been a trick of the mind after hearing the story. The man from Earth 2007 film did it better because at the end the reveal was not vague and not unambiguous unlike this one.

I'm also confused about what that ending means but given the identical twin twist, and the fact the wandering Jew was a single man, I think it's a reversed Shutter Island kind of ending, and he is in fact not 2000 years old, 35-ish maybe, but damn can he philosophize!🤔

People do not think about this but it’s the reason I clicked on the video!
Lazarus was dead 4 days and Yehoshua raised him from the dead.
It’s deemed all men die ONCE!
When walking down the road the disciples were arguing about the one most loved by Yehoshua and he said..”what is it to you that he should be here for the return of the son of man”
Chances are Lazarus is still alive to this day AND was most likely the one who would not die in the burning oil and was cast to the island to “die”!
Just a thought for this movie!
    Shalom!.

Yup, another movie propagating the trope of salvation through "good deeds". Never mind that the actual salvation comes through grace alone, by faith alone, in Christ alone. " For by grace are ye saved through faith; and not that of yourselves, it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2: 8-9, KJV.
Also Isaiah 64: 6 " But we are all as an unclean thing and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;". This is basic stuff that is just so hard to grasp, apparently so right away our hobo man curses the dude that he is going to Hell because he did not give him money, whereas the woman did good, so she will be forgiven. No wonder so many people get confused about faith and religion. Their image of faith and religion comes from hogwash movies like this or actual pastors talking how you must do "good deeds" to be saved, but they never actually say how many. They can't say, of course, since there is no such thing.
