I have the same plough and I pull it behind a 115hp claas arion 510 it's plenty of power. Weight is more important on a tractor, everyone seems to think you need a massive tractor these days back In the 80s my old man had 4 furrows on a 75hp 2wd ford
Doing a nice job slow and steady in them rocks by some of your comments people don’t release how much more grass you get with new seeds . A q and A would be interesting you and your dad could perhaps give us some history of the farm and explain what essentially looks like crofting all be it on a grand scale it is definitely a vocation
I thought you were goimg way to slow but then I heard the rocks. Don't want to break it on your first day. I was pulling a 4 furrow conventional ransome plough behind a 2wd leyland 70hp! Difflock and some patience. Lol
Great video Angus. I knew your new tractor was always going to pull your new plough. She looks well on the tractor and making great job. Do the live stream Angus with your dad with you it will be fine.
I plough with the same plough as yours, a four furrow Model E with the 160 headstock and a full set of skimmers and discs all pulled by a 100 horse power Massey Ferguson 399, pulling it is no problem, lifting it is another matter, the 399 is almost on her limit. You are doing good ploughing in a ley field with no discs, the older headstock you talk about is the 120 headstock
Ferguson invented the 3 point linkage but honestly the smaller MF tractors were the pits for lift capacity, and smaller IH and Fords not much better . A chap I know went to pick up a Lemken 4 furrow rev, complete with discs and skims from his local IH dealer with a little Renault 851-4 (85 hp) when he hitched it up two fitters watched him and one said " You really need a proper tractor to pick that up" so the driver invited them both to sit on the back furrow, he then got into the cab and it picked the plough up + them sat on it with the engine ticking over. They were 😮 He said "These will pick 4 and a half ton upon the linkage!"
@@thomasstrong6632 why. Its just less effort and u dont have to pick stones which is the worst job. Id rather shit in my hands and clap than pick stones.

I used to pull virtually the same plough on very heavy and stony ground with an 85 hp case 856
Only thing you pull is your tool mate
We had an 856 2WD in the mid 80's. She used to sail along with a 4 furrow KV just the same!
@@RGKnightandSon Yeah I pulled 4 X 14 with a 78 hp Renault 2wd, she waltzed it (And some of our land was very heavy clay)
Looking good Angus. Great to see you again - and the weather is looking much better around the farm lol :)
Cheers mate, the temperature seems to be rising so that's a start👍

Good idea, I'll try to make sure we cover some history of our farm👍
We have the same plough once you get them set right they are spot on 👍

We have a similar 3 furrow kvernland that has the same issue with the rear wheel, a quick jerk of the brakes usually knocks her down
I'll try that next time👍

Great video mate. Kvernland are a great plough. 👍👌🐾🐶🍻🚜😎
Cheers mate👍
Brilliant video 💪🏴
Cheers👍
Good for you Angus nice set up.
Thank you👍
Y did u take the loader of 4 as I would left it on and the bucket on 4 big stones
@@hellohello3199 that doesn't help at all
It's extremyl awkward to plow with a loader on cuz it sticks out so much
@@markjackson4045 but what if he came over a big stone then he can life the stone as he going save having 2 go back 4 it
I find it easier to mark the stones with a stick rather than have the loader on all the time
Great video 👍 ploughing good 👍 soil looks 👌
Cheers mate👍
Great video Angus, nice set up there.
Thank you👍
Doing grand job there take ur time she’ll be grand😎
Cheers👍
Class
Great vid. Would u ever think about going min till. No need to plough and less stones pulled up.
No till is for wee fanny's

@@corkfarmer2035 plus you are not turning down the good soil
Kind of half thought about ideas for mintill this year but still looking into it👍
Should look at getting one of those fluffy covers for your mic, really cuts down the wind noise. Grand video lad
Smashing outfit, well you may wear 👍
Nice we got a similar set up👍👌🚜
She looks good there
Aye she looks the part👍
nice ploughing! does your family do anything with the peat harvesting Angus?
No not anymore👍
Very nice tractor mf 5713 s, i have one also, if you want look at vlog-44
I'll go have a look👍
Clean hands 👌🏽
Nice plough, the guy who does mine has one but has disc's for rushes.
Aye I think we might get a disc for the end furrow👍
Good bit of ploughing mon
Cheers👍
What size tyre you runing ?
nice video angus i used to use a kverneland plough and the depth wheel would stick all the time it drove you mad !!!!!!!
Ye can get a thing to fix that
I'll see how it goes but I might need to try fix ours from doing it
What furrow width you ploughing at?
Nice ploughing Angus.👍 You putting it back to grass?
That field is going into spring barley👍
doing a nice bit of work sod turning over well and not that stony ...............!
The bit I filmed the video in was ok but some parts of that field is very shallow👍
I've seen a video on you tube of somone piling a 5 furow with a 5710s
th-cam.com/video/MB3Ay1GuiCI/w-d-xo.html
Super!!!
If u brake hard as u turn the plough the land wheel should flip better
I'll try that next time👍
Why are the mirriors pushed in
So they dont get knocked in the yard👍
@@AngusGloverVlogs big expensive things 🤣🤣
Why are you ploughing what looks like very stoney permanent pasture?
The bit I was ploughing was some of our shallow grassland we use for silage👍
130hp should easily be able to handle a 5f
Why are you ploughing so slow
Too shallow in places to go fast
