When you really want to glide in thermals that are somewhat realistic Andy, try Condor2 it's worth it or better yet, start gliding yourself if you haven't already done that. Maybe Asobo will install realistic weather patterns that will generate thermals that are true to life, like the rainbows that are spontaneously created by the physics.

I am so happy to see someone who also flew Sublogic Flight Simulator 1.0 like I did 😉
You flew it on Apple II, I did it maybe earlier on TRS-80, so many things since that time...
I looked at your video with great interest, congratulations for seeing so much details. As far as I know, they didn't show if the cockpit display brightness is adjustable. I am sure it is but I would like to see it, dimming the displays is so important when flying at night.
Regarding the comparison with professional simulators, I agree with you. I flew an Airbus level D simulator from CAE some years ago, it was the latest generation and it was not as good as MSFS2020. But the instructor said that external view was not so important for professional sims. I don't know... Maybe MS plans to sell their world modeling technology to simulator manufacturers, who knows?

Hope we can disable the "head shake". In FSX it was very annoying, because although your head may shake in a real airplane, the panel does not move. Head shake in a sim moves the panel around to simulate the shake, which makes it difficult to read the instruments in a way that does not correspond to real life.

I really hope this will be certified for flight instruction really soon. The current flight sims the schools use are horrible and many are on Windows 98. Something we can use for a VFR Xcountry could possibly cut down on instructional cost, with the appropriate regulation changes.

if you know anything about flying FAA primarily requires appropriate hardware to make it an "approved" simulator for training, it is the hardware that is expensive. Also any approved simulator is only good for IFR training (per regulations), there is nothing on the horizon with enough fidelity to teach you how to fly, nothing that would work towards your PPL.

it's all about storytelling, Buz, teasers.....as MS always DID. They should name it MSFS2030............So suddenly, every gamer on his XBOX NEED to be an HARDCORESIMMER, claiming that Xplane/Laminar became "deprecated, and a money hunger".....1st "harcore simmers" was a tiny community, mostly freeware oriented.....And You should have read the austin Mayer DEV blog to understand HOW this guy built from scratch his sim (not really eye candy oriented, for sure) with a public and constant concern for realism flight behaviour, each time trying , succeeding finally to be "THE REAL GAMe CHANGER" (fist Fsim to be FAA approved, with certification and under conditions) Then CAME THe FSX CLONES (Prepar, etc....) , a 32bits ^latform untill LAST YEAR, BRinging THIS expensive "ADDONs" Habits With, and became "the norm" (ORBX, PMDG And Others), because HEALTHY RETIRED PPLE Decided to become these "ARMCHAIR PILOTS". WEll ENAUGh............SO PLZ, STOP pointing LAMINAR as THE CULPRIT. MS$ is Teasing everybody with an eye candy "BING3D" , and for now, CLAIM THEY WILL USE "REVOLUTIONARY TECH", Which already exists (THIS CHECKLIST auto Is A STANDARD IN XP Since YEARS !!!!)
