- Ever wonder how to move around the cockpit and passenger cabin in MSFS? Some aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator allow the user to move around the cockpit, swivel and rotate the camera, as well as moving forward and aft to simulate walking.
This video shows how to move around the cabin and cockpit of the Spruce Goose in MSFS. Keyboard and mouse buttons are highlighted on the screen to show what buttons are being pressed to replicate the same motion visible on the screen.

Also you can click the mouse wheel to toggle camera rotation mode if you don’t want to hold the right click down and want to free up the camera a bit to look around the way you do in a traditional video game
Thanks!
This is SOOO useful. I have been flying on MSFS for 1.5 years, and this has been in the backlog of things to figure out. Thank you so much for making this so easy!
You are welcome. Glad it helped.
You have to try trackIR or some of the variants, it's a game changer. This guide is still valid because you can't walk around with trackIR alone
A couple people have told me I need track IR. Having VR, I can't make myself do it.
@@thecorporatepilotdad understandable. I use both. And love the trackIR for when I want to fly and take screenshots or just bump up the graphics in general
can confirm that TrackIR is awesome. I don't see myself going to VR just because I appreciate great graphics.
Thanks I'm a noob and had no idea how to do that. Great help.🤠
Thank you very much for this, I needed to check there wasn't a gremlin on the wing
@@mranderson8461 if there is a gremlin, be sure to not to get it wet.
Merci ! J’ai pu enfin comprendre comment me déplacer en avant et en arrière 👍👏
Thanks for the tutorial
You are very welcome and thank you for the super chat/tip/whatever TH-cam calls it.
Judging by the comments i see here as well as other posts, one can easily surmise that the camera setup in msfs is ridiculously complicated and cumbersome. Terrible.
Out of an abundance of caution, can you post your control settings to accomplish this?
Thanks, I only knew that you could walk around with a xbox controller before. Very informative.
How do you do it with an Xbox controller please ? ❤thank you
@@MAC_GEORGES hold L1 and move with stick
Very helpful-thanks!
Thanks for this i was looking stupid trying to figure this out 😅
@@Iloveplaneslol my main purpose with TH-cam is helping people not look stupid. Mission accomplished.
I can not "walk" with left alt and arrow.. its just going up and down... same as without alt
Now this is my problem since ive messed and scrambled with setting and my arrows on my laptop my arrows are to move my plane and now im stuck with not doing it
How do I make my movements more realistic in the cockpit in msfs
Rats! This didn't work for me either, and looking at keyboard options provided a slew of options that I didn't want to mess with so I'll likely buy a cheap gaming controller. Still appreciate all of your videos!
Try this first … Go to CONTROLS OPTIONS and make sure KEYBOARD PROFILE is selected in the top left corner for keyboard control options. Keyboard profile was selected by default but there is also a DEFAULT setting under keyboard that may need to be selected. It’s great to hear you enjoy my videos. With all the effort that goes into them it’s nice to see comments like yours. Thank you.
great video !
Thank you
Ok so when creating custom views and saving them do you have to be in drone camera mode to move where you want to move and set your camera and save it and then control+ alt and number to save then alt+ Nunez key to load right
simple and nice explanation
Thank you.
@@thecorporatepilotdaddoes it work on xbox
@@mathiasgameplays6036 I have never tried. If you have a keyboard hooked up it might. There is a way to move around with the XBOX controller but I am unaware of how to do that.
THanks a lot! i would ask for that! and you did it
Very informative. And his trackir available for the Xbox S version?
As far as I know, TrackIR only works on PC.
Next time, take the example of an ordinary plane (like the A320), where you have to open a door to get into the cabin
There is no next time on this video. One and done.
Some plans have an invisible wall that prevent you from going into the passenger area :(
True. Each airplane cockpit has to be set by the developer. Some allow lots of movement, even outside the aircraft. Others barely allow movement in the cockpit.
Are there any planes you can explore in the game? Like right now I’m flying a 747 and I’m able to walk around the cabin but that’s it. Is it just not possible or are there mods I need for that
None that I know of. The Spruce Goose has the most space for exploration.
what happed to the mouse being able to look around?!
Thank you and I love you!!
Thank you so much!
Does it work with any model, even with the first MSFS2020 version, no updates?
I can't get to place the camera in the passengers area.
It works in some aircraft better than others depending on what the developer set up. Some airplanes don’t have virtual cabins. However, the Concorde (Add-on) allows camera movement from the cockpit to the back of the cabin.
I must have something configured wrong (or these controls don't work in all planes). In the DH Beaver pressing arrow keys or left Alt + arrow keys does nothing. Left shift + arrow keys works fine though (pan view). 🤷🏽♂
Some airplanes don’t allow movement. You can use the drone view to explore the inside of the aircraft but control of the airplane will be lost when in drone view.
This doesn't work for me, I think my key binding isn't right. what re your bindings to move around in the F/D?
My bindings are whatever the default bindings are. Go to CONTROLS OPTIONS and make sure KEYBOARD PROFILE is selected in the top left corner for keyboard control options. Keyboard profile was selected by default but there is also a DEFAULT setting under keyboard that may need to be selected.
Thank you
Letting the days go by?
How to do it with Xbox controller on PC?
On the TBM 930 the arrow keys alone do nothing and the left shift alt just pans the camera no forward or back movement.
Not sure why. Arrow keys move up and down on my PC in the TBM as they do with any other airplane.
Me the same, did you fix it?
And how do u jump out of airplane at 5000 ft?
For that feature there is GTA V. Sky diving in MSFS could be fun.
Thanks from newbie
You’re very welcome.
finally!! i been using drone and dip in and out of the roof and floor lol
Thanks you
How to move around but but very slowly to do a cinematic video.
Change the drone speed on the showcase tab under the camera menu.
On my mfs when I go to move to look around it dose like a head whare it returns to a forward position how do you fix this im use to x plane 11 whare i can do the mouse and look all around but mfs I can only look forward? Please help!
Usually, the right mouse button can be held while the mouse is moved around, and the view will pan in the direction of the movement of the mouse. However, I have not been able to do this for the last week or so. The RMB no longer pans the view around when held and it's aggravating. It sounds like you may be experiencing the same problem.
How do you o this in VR. ? Couldn’t find any tutorials. !
The uncredited picture you showed sparked my brain... here's the story on what's going on in that picture of the dame and the spruce goose:
Thanks for the explanation and the little breadcrumb ;)

Thanks for sharing that video. What a cool place. Home to the Spruce Goose and Batman. Who knew?
Why doesn't it work in the King Air, CJ-4 or Longitude? I can't go into the cabin on those planes.
That’s just the way they’re programmed. Not sure why.
Yeah, the developer has to make a box in which you can move the camera around and about.. some devs do, some devs dont allow you access to the rest of the airplane from cockpit view.
SPRUCE GOOSE !!!!!!!!!!!
What if you haven't got a keyboard?
Use Xbox controller and its a no brainer
If you have one😫 However I do have one and I agree, I have the Xbox controller with a PC setup and yoke/ stick it makes it work well! 😁🛫
