Two summers ago we found a scrawny pitiful kitten on our back deck. It looked half dead. I soon realized that it was a baby bobcat. I put cat food and water out for it and it ate like it was starving before going back into the woods. Later it returned and ate the feral cats food. This continued and we began watching for it. It developed a schedule coming early in the morning and just at dark at night. So I bought raw chicken at the store and fed it twice a day. It would often play with the cats in the back yard. We never tried to make a pet of it I fed it all that summer and through the long cold winter. By spring it was fully grown healthy big and beautiful. It began to come less and less and eventually stopped completely. I hope it went off to find a mate and live a long happy life. We loved helping it
God bless U for allowing her to give birth in a safe environment in your yard compared with some idiots who would try and hurt her while she is in the middle of labor.........We humans build in their territory rather than the other way around. We need to be kind and fair to wild animals.
Read “Bringing Nature Home” for how to help. At this point, the suburbs are the final refuge for a great deal of wildlife and our choices will determine whether they survive or starve. Spoiler, native plants, native plants, native plants!
She must’ve been hunting rats, raccoons, squirrels, and birds that feed on the garbage and scraps of leftovers that humans throw away. And she probably hunts lizards and small snakes that hide in the garages, backyards and gardens.
She is a good mother and you sir, are a wonderful neighbor for allowing her to give birth and nurse her young until she felt safe enough to move them! Thank you kind sir!
Bobcats move their babies location many times during the first few months, it's to stay safe, they need to be one step ahead all the time. So thankful she had your home and I hope she can continue to find safe havens.
It's built-in to move them, the birth produces blood and excess bodily tissues that are hard to entirely clean up, so after a certain point predators can hone in. Ground-nesting birds will also do that, to get away from the smell of the eggshells and fluids decomposing. In my observation.
The more we build in their territory the more we see this. Thank you for respecting that it's just as much their home as it is ours. Plus they'll keep the rodents away!!
You got to see something very special and rare for a fleeting while. You gave her quiet and space and respect. Who knows? Maybe she'll come back for a future litter!
I love how peaceful it is at your place. Perfect place to read a good book with the birds singing in the background. The bobcat mom chose the perfect place with nice people. Thank you for your kindness.
@@life.nature.u I could tell she knew you were filming her when she walked across the patio. She’ll probably come back. Every year we have the same wrens nest on the shelves in our garage, above the freezer, so their nest is eye level. Talk about trust😅
Still, the more you can stay out of her sight when she’s present, the lower her stress hormones will be. She is taking a calculated risk and is likely very much on edge about it.
Thanks for letting the momma use your space for her new family. Hopefully, they’ve hunkered down somewhere safe and navigate away from that neighborhood.
I love your video description. Everyone I know would see the situation as ' the animals are encroaching on my territory.' You know they were there first and showed respect for them. Thank you!
I hugged a bobcat once. They are so soft yet so firm with muscle. It got a bit excited and started eating my hair so its owner told it to back off and it did.. lol which I was happy for. I will always remember that experience.. But they are not pets.
Despite the myths, people in California usually treat wildlife very well, well enough that most wildlife won’t see humans as a threat. I live in the suburbs close to the river and see coyotes, deer, skunks, raccoons, turkeys, etc. often enough and they don’t run away but simply just chill when humans are around. No one really lets their cats or small dogs go outside as well, and you will be blamed if your small pet is eaten by a wild animal.
@@Cheere better not to feed them. She needs to stay wild and teach her cubs the same, else risk trouble with hunters, trappers, people who are cruel or just too ignorant to do right by them
They do research on the bobcats around Tucson Arizona and have learned they treat human houses like the rock piles they live on in the wild. Your house is probably part of her territory and she probably just wanted to move her babies to a cooler spot. I wouldn't be surprised if they come back. Whenever you're in your backyard, you should look up at your roof and see if they are up there. That's where they like to live in Tucson (probably too hot for it now). There are videos about it here on TH-cam
That's of course partly true. But even with no houses, animals move their young either way. It's to confuse would be predators, esp. when they have to leave their young to go hunt.

You did a great thing!❤
@@M.C.Blackwell thank you
Seems like you and your cats did a good job.
Awesome 🙂
Missing any feral cats ?
Watching her leap up onto that fence with a kitten in her mouth… wow. Power and grace.
*and* stay balanced atop the fence, for a few moments!
God bless U for allowing her to give birth in a safe environment in your yard compared with some idiots who would try and hurt her while she is in the middle of labor.........We humans build in their territory rather than the other way around. We need to be kind and fair to wild animals.
Thank you, sucks that most humans don't have any respect to wild animals
That effortless jump over the fence!!
Can we just appreciate for a moment that that beautiful girl gave birth and shortly after jumped a fence while holding her babies?! 😮😊
And to 5 babies. That's quintuplets isn't it?
I was amazed to see her jump the high fence with a baby in her mouth. Great video.
Thanks 🤗
How blessed you were to have that wonderful experience for 4 days. Maybe Mama will come back next year? Now that the place is tried and trusted.
Had the babies in the SAFEST place she could find and then moved them when they were a little older... GOOD MOM.
Thank you for sharing. It was a beautiful experience.
Thank you for being so hospitable and letting them stay a while in your backyard! You are an exemplary human being!
She made this jump to come in when she was pregnant with 5 kittens in her belly ! Brave Mamma !
More like a miracle of nature. Mind blowing how bodies of female animals are designed.
She feels safe in your yard and that’s wonderful
Look at those muscles! What good mama!
Thank you for not disturbing her and the babies 💙 You have restored some faith in humanity ❣️
Bless you for loving Nature's animals, and bless mama Bobcat and her kittens
Beautiful!! You're an example of an awesome human being, and I wish everyone was that in touch with nature and considerate!
It is truly amazing how wild creatures survive in civilization.

She is a determined mom and a better parent than a lot of humans I know. My fellow earthling you are beautiful ! I wish you well my sister !
This is so awesome. I hope they're doing well after she moved them.
You are a good human being for sharing your yard.
I wish more people would just observe like you did, it was lovely to share in your special time, bless you! ;-)
Wow. She's beautiful. How amazing to have such a wonderful creature in your yard. It must have felt like a blessing she chose you.😊
Yes, it felt like a blessing.
@@life.nature.u 😊
The way that cat just cleared the fence like nothing! Omg!
cats are spring loaded.
That’s quite a ride for those babies
She looks very healthy and well fed. She must know how to make a good living in suburbia! Best wishes to her, her kittens and to you.

Most people will never get to see one in person and you have a National Geographic special right in your backyard
That is so sweet and I hope they come back to see you all.
Thank you for sharing your home with these beautiful creatures!
Jumping up on to that fence super impressive.
How awesome you got to film this. Thanks for sharing 😅

Cats are some of the most amazing mothers on the planet! It’s truly a miracle to be able to witness and experience such a sight! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for taking such good care of her and her family. You saved her and kept her wild, incredible! You are good people🙏🏻😌
What an honor! It's the equivalent of being chosen by a shelter cat.
This is incredible! Im so glad you welcome the family in your yard❤
She might have felt safer giving birth in your yard, rather than out in the hills where coyotes could attack her. 😇✌
Thats my thought exactly.
Totally. And we have coyotes around. She was testing the place for one week before she gave birth. She saw us and we saw her.

Thank you for sharing this with us mister 😊
Thank you for sharing and being such a good person. I wish you the best ✨️
I can’t believe it. Bobcat strolling around like it owns the place.
I like how the bird quickly decided “I’m outta here” as soon as it spotted the bobcat
Lucky you to experience that! Hope momma and babies are safe and doing well.
i am glad she is back in nature.
I can’t believe she jumped to the fence top with a baby in her mouth! Pretty rose bed! I hope you see them as they grow.
Thankyou heaps from my heart and soul for helping her . Not many people would. Your one in a million❤❤❤❤
😊😊😊😊
Smart cat with a really good taste too
I’ll love to live in that house too ❤
What a privilege to see this. This is incredibly rare.
Well you have a nice yard she has good taste ha ha

Oh my goodness this is an amazing share! Thank you sooo much.

Aww thank you for having her give birth in a safe place.
