I posted Ford's fix for water in the bulkhead and the instructional video for this quite some time ago. Ford said it only affects the mk1 when, infact, it affects the mk1.5 as well.Great video though which makes it clearer to owners where they need to drill.

Would water into the BCM cause the 'engine malfunction' warning message.
Have a 11 plate 2.0 TDCI with engine malfunction message, cars runs fine with no issues and no error codes. Has just had a new windscreen and the repairer said that area was full of water and he drained out lots of water (according to customer)

Good video. Is this something I can be doing on the later model?

Hi. Yes I believe, from what I've heard, that the mk2 is starting to suffer from the same problem.

Chris, it does seem like it's starting to be an issue with the Mk2 as well now.

Thank you. I will get round to doing it. My footwell is still a bit damp.

Top video thanks, would this be a possible cause for wet drivers carpet too? It's not coolant so the heater matrix pipes are okay.

Very possibly mate, but also as likely to ve a blocked AC drain as that's on the drivers side

Hey, can the water that is collecting there gather up and drip/pour down in the footwell?? I have a left steered cmax and i have had a problem with water in the passanger footwell for a couple a months now. And for the latest weeks i have been hearing this sloshing water sound in the "dashboard", but i will try this fix. Thanks a lot for this video

Yes absolutely mate! This issue is the biggest cause of BCM (fuse box in footwell) problems as it drips in all over the fusebox!

What symptoms will come when the bcm module is full of water?

I have a 14 plate cmax with a wet drivers footwell, could this be the fix? It’s a weird one because all the surrounding areas of the footwell are dry, but still water ingress? - thanks

See the video by AMS Diagnostics concerning this. It could be caused by the air-con condenser drain pipe being blocked.

@@CharlieMac53 where is that video please?

Search for 'Ford s-max non starting not cranking'. It is by AMS Diagnostics. The problem is caused by water getting into the wiring which runs down the inside of the right-hand cill and affects a blue wire which has been badly connected at the factory. The break is usually found in the passenger section and requires the right -hand (looking out of the front of the car) seat to be removed, as well as the carpet lifting. All becomes clear in the video. Hope this helps.
