When my son introduced his beautiful fiance to his late father's side of the family, my mother in law asked me, "What is she?" Harking back to when I married her son and was not of the same faith and get horror over that, I replied that I had no idea what church she belonged to. She gave me an odd look. Then it dawned on me that she wanted to know what her racial heritage was. Well, I didn't know that either. I only knew that she made my son happy.

In US itself there is a group of people called Amish who suffered from genetic mutation cuz they married with their own cousin, brother and sister. As a result abnormalities in their genes have grown a lot. If there is any genetic abnormality in one family or group and they don't diversify then eventually that abnormality will increase in that group.

His dad connects with me through the cutest ways (like Black History Month & books on black leaders, loves my cooking. Hey, he’s 90! It’s all good). My mom ended up loving my husband beyond words. He was holding her hands when she died. She was looking directly into his eyes saying she loved him as she took her last breath. We have been through so much together over the years. Growing up mixed race was hard for me because we lived in a mostly black neighborhood. I was picked on for being light skinned or mistaken for Mexican American or Latina. It was even worse at school. It got a bit better as I got older but there is still that prejudice out there for minorities and mixed race people.
As the head of my family...husband, father, protector, teacher, provider, servant, leader, etc...I don't allow society to define who I am, who my wife is nor who our beautiful children are. Society attempts to define me as black, my wife as white and our children as mixed/biracial. However, I define myself and my family the way the Lord defines us..."children of God, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, saints, believers, followers of Christ, a holy nation, a chosen generation, a peculiar people, new creations, etc.

I agree with the woman in the video, there is a lot of ignorance here in Hattiesburg. I've lived here for 42 years and many whites are afraid of what their friends and family will say. Here is a saying you often hear down here, "My parents would kill me if I brought a black person to my house". I've heard this often from classmates of mine while growing up here but it's heartwarming to see that it seem to be slowly changing here. I've had it happen to me where the person parents lived across the street from her and when I arrived at her house the parents must have been looking out the window and called her on the phone and told me I had to leave. Now I mind you that the woman was an adult in her 20's and had her own place. We were classmates at the local college and I was invited over to study together for a licensure exam and got ran off. That's Mississippi for you, it happens a lot because that is what's taught here. It's not acceptable. So the guy's mother in this video will likely remain that way which is sad because she may have an excellent daughter-in-law but is not even willing to find out because of the color of her skin. In 1965 my mother (white) married a black man. This was just a few years after it became legal. The response to my mother's family was not good. Her old-fashioned and prejudiced farmer father kicked her out of the family for good. It was very hard for our family. I was age 9 and as a child my mother never really talked to me about this but I knew it was there. In hindsight, my stepfather was a good and loving man. He deeply loved my mother and treated her well. He stood by her when she was ill with cancer and took good care of her. I live him.

Relationship is about attraction not skin color. Once you experience a mixed marriage in your family you soon realize there’s no difference in the race groups , just another family member showing up at family functions. Maybe some people don’t want you to know that and this is the reason why we still have a lot of resentment from some family members when it comes to mixed marriages.
The south has the largest mixed population. Always has. It's hard when family members have different views, but like my dad told me "that's not the choice I would have made for you, but it's not my decision to make." He comes around and loves my kids, but he still has some feelings towards my interracial marriage. It's been coming up on 8 years and my dad continues to think me and my husband will not work out. My dad can think what he wants to and I can do what I want to. He will get over it at some point. His opinions in no way impede the relationship I have with my husband. I love my husband and that truly is all that matters.
I’m from Alabama and in a biracial relationship. I worried about how my father would react and he absolutely blew me away. I didn’t have enough faith in my family. But, I've recently been looking at TH-cam vids about interracial couples telling stories about how they met and doing Vlogs. A first for me. I must have been hiding in a closet or something b/c I didn't know there were sooo many interracial couples involving black women and other races. Moreover, and more eyebrow raising is that I found them to be tremendously, without a shadow of a doubt, HAPPY!!!! I feel that sometimes, God has to mix up things in order for individuals to find that missing piece to their puzzle. Our personalities, preferences, vernacular, hobbies, and core is different and searching for someone to COMPLIMENT who God made us may indeed lead us to someone outside our race/culture. Only those who I've seen take the plunge and go for it (meaning dating outside their race) are the couples I've seen having soooo much happiness!!! Ultimately it is the child finding on their journey that determines how they perceive their races. Nobody but that child can better accept them as themselves. I have been in an interracial marriage. I just learn to accept that not everyone will be happy with it. My happiness means more than someone else opinion.
My first cousin, Katy, is white, and her husband, Gevoni, is black and they have two beautiful children, a boy, Zaiden, who is 8 and Azalya who is 5. They were all welcome into the family without any hesitation at all.
I know that I will probably be criticized for stating this, but God does not have any problems with intermarriage but does with things like adultery, homosexuality and other forms of sodomy. Please read in Genesis 41, where Joseph, a Jew, had married an Egyptian woman. Please also read in Numbers, chapter 12. Moses, a Jew, had married a black woman. God approved of both Joseph's and Moses' marital union because the wife was a fellow believer in the God of Abraham! God does remind us, through the reaction of Aaron, Moses' brother, and Miriam, his sister, that in human society, intermarriage can be a harder life. There are times when an intermarriage is not pleasing to God, such as the case of Samson. Please read Judges, chapter 14. Samson would have had a good life, had he found a good Jewish wife, but he desired Delilah, a Philistine woman who did not believe in the God of Abraham. The Philistines always hated Samson and never forgot that he was not one of them. As for sexual immorality, from adultery to sodomy, God has always been against that. Abraham in Genesis, chapter 18, begged God for mercy upon Sodom and Gomorrah. In Genesis, chapter 19, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah! The city was so full of sin and there was not even one righteous person, after Lot and his family were escorted out by God's angels! I Corinthians chapter 6 makes clear that God abhors all carnal sin! God loves the sinner but hates the sin! I think that homosexuality and bisexual and transvestite attitudes and lifestyles are mentioned in Romans chapter 1. Such ways are not of God. They are from the author of confusion and the father of lies, the god of this fallen, sin stained world, Satin. We live in a perilous time of much confusion! Men who want to be women... women who want to be men... gentiles who want to be Jews... and declare themselves to be Jews... This sort of chaos and confusion is from Satan, not God!

Some "downsides" of being a "mixed race" person are that sometimes you won't know which ancestry you'll take part of but at the same time will be prone to understand cultural diversity from an early age as an insider. Other times you won't be seen as "black enough" or "white enough", so Michael's case is relatable to my father's, with the difference that mine's black and his mother never liked mine for being white. The good thing is that most of the time you'll come out equipped with good genes from both sides and something curious is that my siblings and I got one of the best genetic consitutions from all of both grandmas' grandchildren, with the aditional blessing of having a good physical appearance, strenght and intelligence which makes us "exotic" to the eyes of anyone who sees us for the first time. It's a shame that love has to have 'colour tags' and also that people (mostly women) tie the knot nowadays just for the sake of checking a box on a bucket list.
I feel Michael is a gentle soul. Bless his Mom's heart. She was raised with a different belief and she's sticking to it whether God or anybody else approve or not. I'm glad Michael will live his life and be happy in spite of it. Many times, seriously as I was growing up I've watched whites have situations where they lived miserably simply because they refused to cross the color line to find love and be happy. Growing up mixed race was hard for me because we lived in a mostly black neighborhood. I was picked on for being light skinned or mistaken for Mexican American or Latina. It was even worse at school. It got a bit better as I got older but there is still that prejudice out there for minorities and mixed race people.

I agree with the woman in the video, there is a lot of ignorance here in Hattiesburg. I've lived here for 42 years and many whites are afraid of what their friends and family will say. Here is a saying you often hear down here, "My parents would kill me if I brought a black person to my house". I've heard this often from classmates of mine while growing up here but it's heartwarming to see that it seem to be slowly changing here. I've had it happen to me where the person parents lived across the street from her and when I arrived at her house the parents must have been looking out the window and called her on the phone and told me I had to leave. Now I mind you that the woman was an adult in her 20's and had her own place. We were classmates at the local college and I was invited over to study together for a licensure exam and got ran off. That's Mississippi for you, it happens a lot because that is what's taught here. It's not acceptable. So the guy's mother in this video will likely remain that way which is sad because she may have an excellent daughter-in-law but is not even willing to find out because of the color of her skin. In 1965 my mother (white) married a black man. This was just a few years after it became legal. The response to my mother's family was not good. Her old-fashioned and prejudiced farmer father kicked her out of the family for good. It was very hard for our family. I was age 9 and as a child my mother never really talked to me about this but I knew it was there. In hindsight, my stepfather was a good and loving man. He deeply loved my mother and treated her well. He stood by her when she was ill with cancer and took good care of her. I live him.

Relationship is about attraction not skin color. Once you experience a mixed marriage in your family you soon realize there’s no difference in the race groups , just another family member showing up at family functions. Maybe some people don’t want you to know that and this is the reason why we still have a lot of resentment from some family members when it comes to mixed marriages.
The south has the largest mixed population. Always has. It's hard when family members have different views, but like my dad told me "that's not the choice I would have made for you, but it's not my decision to make." He comes around and loves my kids, but he still has some feelings towards my interracial marriage. It's been coming up on 8 years and my dad continues to think me and my husband will not work out. My dad can think what he wants to and I can do what I want to. He will get over it at some point. His opinions in no way impede the relationship I have with my husband. I love my husband and that truly is all that matters.

Listen Up, The Groove.....THANK YOU for making that comment. As a black woman, I spent most of my entire life (now 46, but look 25 thank God for that) dating black only and found no 'home' in that. But, I've recently been looking at TH-cam vids about interracial couples telling stories about how they met and doing Vlogs. A first for me. I must have been hiding in a closet or something b/c I didn't know there were sooo many interracial couples involving black women and other races. Moreover, and more eyebrow raising is that I found them to be tremendously, without a shadow of a doubt, HAPPY!!!! I feel that sometimes, God has to mix up things in order for individuals to find that missing piece to their puzzle. Our personalities, preferences, vernacular, hobbies, and core is different and searching for someone to COMPLIMENT who God made us may indeed lead us to someone outside our race/culture. Only those who I've seen take the plunge and go for it (meaning dating outside their race) are the couples I've seen having soooo much happiness!!! God bless you and your wife for taking the plunge and I pray that someday I'll meet that special someone from another race/culture. I just want to experience 'true' happiness in a relationship, not just going through the motions of having a man.

Asian and black mixes are beautiful! Just found out my school friend is half black, half Indonesian. I thought she was just a really pretty black girl but she has that extra spice. I wish I could have half black half asian kids but that's impossible because I'm white! I guess black and white is also nice :-D wouldn't want to raise my kids there though.

Some "downsides" of being a "mixed race" person are that sometimes you won't know which ancestry you'll take part of but at the same time will be prone to understand cultural diversity from an early age as an insider. Other times you won't be seen as "black enough" or "white enough", so Michael's case is relatable to my father's, with the difference that mine's black and his mother never liked mine for being white.
The good thing is that most of the time you'll come out equipped with good genes from both sides and something curious is that my siblings and I got one of the best genetic consitutions from all of both grandmas' grandchildren, with the aditional blessing of having a good physical appearance, strenght and intelligence which makes us "exotic" to the eyes of anyone who sees us for the first time.
It's a shame that love has to have 'colour tags' and also that people (mostly women) tie the knot nowadays just for the sake of checking a box on a bucket list.

I feel Michael is a gentle soul. Bless his Mom's heart. She was raised with a different belief and she's sticking to it whether God or anybody else approve or not. I'm glad Michael will live his life and be happy in spite of it. Many times, seriously as I was growing up I've watched whites have situations where they lived miserably simply because they refused to cross the color line to find love and be happy. I wonder how many will say to God, God, I was believing you for the person you wanted in my life. I never received. I can just hear the Lord saying. I sent them. You wouldn't receive them because you were looking at the outer appearance.

I always said I would want a baby by a Japanese or black man...but in the USA I would never date a black man because I am mixed white and hispanic and there is so much hate and ignorance from women of color to light skinned women dating a black man. Maybe if I lived in Japan I would date a black guy! No one cares over there about blacks, but the Japanese are actually more suspicious of white dudes. LOLZ! But really, the young people are not racist AT ALL. No one cares about this nonsense.
