It's the same issue I have with the anacondrai warriors from Tournament of Elements. We don't know where they're coming from or how they got recruited, they just exist now. The issue with the wolf mask warriors really bugs me because the rest of the season is really good.
The Anacondrai Cultists are kinda poorly explained but at the very least we still understand that these are a bunch of low level thugs who were integrated directly into a cult. With the Wolf Warriors theres literally nothing
The complete lack of any context for these guys is very disappointing. How did Raz even get so many? It’s like how Mr. E was never given any proper context, despite the many opportunities to do so
i am pretty sure they were locked in up in the dungeon or temple, because in part 2 they explain that the forbideeen five made these masks and control their power, and locked up all their soldiers inside the temple
They probably say something along the lines of you could gain imaginable power. You just have to give up your goodness for it and most people take up the offer because they’re already not good people to begin with.
Come on guys it’s not that hard to understand. Think about it. The shadow dojo is located in the forest of spirits so if you think about it, the Warriors only appeared after the temple was unlocked and when Ras got the wolf clan masks and also the warriors not being able to talk, they’re blind loyalty to Ras, and their innate ability of not be able to feel physical damage. So the logical conclusion is that the Warriors are spirits from the forest of spirits of the original warriors who used to serve the forbidden five..
Another thing I hated was that after they had said that the wolf masks weren’t being used to their full potential and they got their claw back things or whatever they were literally losing to a bunch of powerless extras :/ idk they seemed a whole lot more powerful in the first half when two of them and cinder fought Lloyd Arin and sora
I think maybe the original clan that served the forbidden five would have been composed of likeminded power hungry people, and that after the dragon masters imprisoned the five, they used magic to preserve their bodies in stasis until someone would free the five.
Also Sora, Kai and Wydfire got their goodness shaterred during the end of part one and it took Wildfire's heat powers to take them off. But after that Kai was sacrificed as an unshattered soul to free Noct.
@@Crusty783 Yeah, I'm not saying that this is totally unexplainable, in fact I've come up with some theories myself. But it does illustrate the point that this season focuses on the wrong stuff as supposed to explaining the wolf masks, the wolf clan or getting to meet the new elemental masters.
And this is not all to say that I dislike this season, the reason I'm so critical of it is becouse I love it whit all my heart and I want to see it be the best version of itself. Ps: so cool that you take the time to interact whit your audience, I love your content
I think they have a much better design than last seasons villains(the gold,orange and red was a bit much ) but their usage was terrible especially in part 2. For the sets they should have just included temple guards as the generic soldier for part 2

I don't mind quite a lot of the questions that we don't know the answer for yet, given that they'll probably come in the next couple seasons, but this feels like one that should've been answered now. the only reason not to is that the wolf clan still plays a major role next season, which is possible considering the full return of the F5. any longer, and they've messed up with this one tbh
I assumed that they are just mindless zombies in the same way many Ninjago armies are because I thought that they are already there when Ras found the Shadow Dojo, but after rewatching some parts of the first episode I realized that they kind of just appeared halfway through the episode

Tbh I have this same issue with Evil Jay and how he got recruited I don’t like how it’s left a mystery and what cinders backstory is or some vague implication of why he joined lord ras as it makes the wolf clan feel way more shallow and empty and if it is mind control that the wolf mask warriors got in Ep 19 and 20 and cinder got it why didn’t Jay get it I know he wasn’t there but it makes more sense for him to get it and help fight the elemental masters with the forbidden five and lord ras does nothing in this finale really he just fights nokt and doesn’t have any standout moments like I would have loved to see him take control of the source dragon of motion like in the sets but no he feels very insignificant by the end despite the rest of the season hyping him up as a much bigger threat
My theory is that the wolf mask warriors were a cult to the five that survived either by slowly recruiting members or gaining long life through shatterspin that joined Raz with the hopes of being able to bring back the FF with his help. They did not stop raz hurting nox as they believed he had a plan.
Oh design-wise they're absolutely elite. Judging armies for me is a balance between good design and writing and sadly its the writing where I take issue here
I just finished S2P2 before watching this video, I kinda assumed throughout my watching that the wolf mask warriors were just soldiers Ras recruited and the masks kinda turned them mindless servants (prolonged exposure, or something like that) kinda didn’t understand why when Cinder and Jay wear the mask and the gong goes off the mask disappears (obviously it’s for marketing but in universe) maybe it’s an elemental mastery thing. Season 2 I felt like was a good continuation of season 1 and built Ras much more as a character but also left things to be desired/more fleshed out. The wolf gang is just one of those things. I absolutely agree that there shouldn’t be extended universe media to explain such an important thing. Great video by the way always appreciate your opinions
Part 2 was extremely vague, we only got to know a few more elemental masters and the other half doesn’t even have names and some elements are even unknown, compared to tournament of elements, season 2 part 2 is much more inferior compared to character understanding.
Something I feel DR S2 could benefit from is having an entire mini series of shorts focused on the Wolf Clan and Ras almost like the elemental mech shorts. It would be an easy way to explain the actual wolf clan and show us how Ras recruited a certain someone in Part 2 and Cinder. It would be a good way to give them spotlight

I’m very glad I’m not the only one who found cinder as not fully going with their potential in the show. Most people I talked with only said how cool he was but we didn’t see much of him in the first half. Second half he was better but I was disappointed we didn’t see how he met Ras in the first place and why he’s fighting for him.

Not sure I agree with the Ras comparison. Ras was found by his master as an incredibly vulnerable child and groomed into obsessively idolising the concept of strength. From there you can see how his rough childhood informed the way he manipulates people and conducts himself as a villain.

Its not just when Ras put the chip on him, its that they stood by and let him use it to torture Nokt for whats implied to be a period of a month or so. He keeps using this thing on Nokt in front of the warriors during training in the early episodes of part 2
Apparently, the Shatterspin comics are supposed to give us further context on who these guys were, but only one issue is out right now. So as it stands, we know next to nothing, and even by the time all the issues would release, the full season would officially be released way before.
The mind control thing would make sense Jay using shatterspin but then you can see him struggling after Nya beat him then for his eyes to turn red and say “and I will always hate you” No one is really talk it about Rox either and episode 19

Egalt is probably an ice dragon right? So maybe JUST maybe, he had ice so strong it was equivalent to the ice emperor’s ice and it froze the entire army in place until Ras found and freed them
This was somewhat answer in pt2. In episode 19 during the flashback Nokt says how he got people to join the army. I think the 5 would force people into the army or kill them. Not a full answer but still an answer
im not gonna lie, I'm pretty sick of Ninjago introducing villains who at a first glance and first fight scene seem like they might be a problem and really strong, but then they just get tossed around in future episodes like every other villain. Its even worse here because these guys have such a cool design and concept but we know NOTHING about them not even how Ras got them. I think Cinder removing the mask from one of them in ep 10 was a perfect opportunity to have us get a slight glimpse or tease as to what these guys are really like. But hopefully more gets explained with them in the future but idk if they are even still gonna be around and help the forbidden 5 or not..
Idk why I always thought they weren’t humans, I thought they were like the stone army from legacy of the green ninja but I wanted to know more about the wolf masks and the Forbidden 5. The shadow dojo was found in the forest of spirits in the wildness, and the Warriors appeared after the temple was unlocked, where the mask were so you put two and two into together and the Warriors have ability not to feel physical damage. You can put two together and see that they are spirits of the warriors that used to serve the 5 thousands of years ago
i like to think that the wolf warriors are kinda like the stone army somewhere hidden underground and ras finding them kinda like how the serpentine did but on purpose
Simple, we don’t know anything about him. All we know is that he’s the new Master of Smoke, something happened to Ash and that he works for Ras. That’s it, we don’t know anything else about Cinder, why he works for Ras and why he’s willing to do the things he does.
One way they could've given more depth to the wolf warriors would be to have Raz shatter the goodness of the Monks in the sky temples. A bit dark, but it would give more debth the warriors are just people forced into an army by Raz
About cinder I'm surprised he was able to beat the ninja when his training was breaking vases kai and jay literally divided about 100 layers of bricks for fun
Yea I definitely agree. They come out of nowhere at the end of episode 1 and it’s just never explained. Plus their numbers are constantly inconsistent throughout the season as in episode one there were so many of them and then in episode 10 there were maybe like 60? Also there power level I find kinda odd as when Rox corrupts the wolf warriors she says that Ras has barely scratched the surface of there true powers and yet I feel like they were beaten pretty easily compared to Ras wolf warriors in previous episodes. However, the one thing I find interesting is that in episode 10, when Cinder takes one of the wolf masks from a warrior, they don’t show who or what is under the mask. So maybe that will be explained in season 3?
My question is whenever an elemental master uses the mask it melts into armor, does it ever revert back to a mask? Is it stuck as armor? How long does it last for before needing to use another mask? Does it get absorbed into that persons body which permanently corrupts a bit of them, and if their fully corrupted do they still need a mask to do shatterspin?
Something else done to steal any context whatsoever from the Wolf Warriors is that when Cinder steals a Mask from some random Wolf Mask Warrior, we never get to see the faceless warrior. Granted, we do have the sets to show us their faces, possibly proving that these guys really are humans, but I doubt it since that has happened multiple times before and it has ended up being non-canon.
the short of it is that he barely has an actual character. hes a tropey edgy villain which is fun but i know nothing about the guy. compare him to jordana who is such an incredibly well fleshed out villain and its absolutely night and day. the issues with cinder are more or less the same as the actual wolf guys themselves
Ya in episode 21 when Ras said we will gather the most powerful beings in the merge realms I thought he was talking about the wolf mask warriors then I found out he was talking about the five so then I thought he and Jordana when around putting wolf mask of people and shattering there goodness but I guess not?
To be honest it doesn't really bother me much, i really feel like we think we had high expectations because we come from a season with a villain faction such as imperium. That being said it was frustrating not knowing what or who or where they cone from. However the biggest flom for me in s2 is cinder like bro is kinda just there to fight and be menacing and that's it. Really dissapointed by him this season
I think Ras was able to gain The Wolf warrior’s trust and loyalty, by promising them big stuff, mostly power through the wolf masks as long as they help him free the forbidden five
They are probably mindless zombies, and cinder probably got controlled because it does work on anyone who shattered there soul. I don’t think the wolf warriors age, and they probably let ras zap nokt because they support the most the person who recruited them
Calling this season great really rubs me the wrong way, the tournament was extremely underwhelming in my opinion, the first half was great, the second half ruined it
I thought the whole season told a really compelling story about how self doubt and desperation can poison someone against the things they love. Really bold direction they took Arin in. I definitely prefer Part 1 though.

Apparently, the Shatterspin comics are supposed to give us further context on who these guys were, but only one issue is out right now. So as it stands, we know next to nothing, and even by the time all the issues would release, the full season would officially be released way before.
The mind control thing would make sense
Jay using shatterspin but then you can see him struggling after Nya beat him then for his eyes to turn red and say “and I will always hate you”

I thought there were going to be this super tough and creepy ancient warriors or possesed brainwashed zombies but there just people wearing fursuits with knife hands....

How the hell were these guys made in canon? Heck, WHAT even are they? We aren’t given an explanation or anything.
Egalt is probably an ice dragon right? So maybe JUST maybe, he had ice so strong it was equivalent to the ice emperor’s ice and it froze the entire army in place until Ras found and freed them

This was somewhat answer in pt2. In episode 19 during the flashback Nokt says how he got people to join the army. I think the 5 would force people into the army or kill them. Not a full answer but still an answer
im not gonna lie, I'm pretty sick of Ninjago introducing villains who at a first glance and first fight scene seem like they might be a problem and really strong, but then they just get tossed around in future episodes like every other villain. Its even worse here because these guys have such a cool design and concept but we know NOTHING about them not even how Ras got them. I think Cinder removing the mask from one of them in ep 10 was a perfect opportunity to have us get a slight glimpse or tease as to what these guys are really like. But hopefully more gets explained with them in the future but idk if they are even still gonna be around and help the forbidden 5 or not..
Idk why I always thought they weren’t humans, I thought they were like the stone army from legacy of the green ninja but I wanted to know more about the wolf masks and the Forbidden 5.
The whole season was about getting these 5 characters out and all we really know is Nokt and Rox’s names and nothing else, I’m sure we’ll learn more in later seasons but we really got nothing
Maybe shattering your soul makes you immortal as the 5 are still alive after centuries and elemental powers don't make you immortal unless your part oni or dragon
1:57 tbh aging in ninjago is so awkward. You should be able to live for minimum 1k years as a regular dude
In my head canon:
The wolf mask warriors are awakend mindless zombies that awake when Ras touched the wolf masks and Rox mind controlled them and Cinder in Part 2 because they did shatterspin
The shadow dojo was found in the forest of spirits in the wildness, and the Warriors appeared after the temple was unlocked, where the mask were so you put two and two into together and the Warriors have ability not to feel physical damage. You can put two together and see that they are spirits of the warriors that used to serve the 5 thousands of years ago
i like to think that the wolf warriors are kinda like the stone army
somewhere hidden underground and ras finding them kinda like how the serpentine did but on purpose

Simple, we don’t know anything about him. All we know is that he’s the new Master of Smoke, something happened to Ash and that he works for Ras.
That’s it, we don’t know anything else about Cinder, why he works for Ras and why he’s willing to do the things he does.
They served their purpose. That's about it. Otherwise loved the season, yes, even part 2, which I thought was fantastic
One way they could've given more depth to the wolf warriors would be to have Raz shatter the goodness of the Monks in the sky temples. A bit dark, but it would give more debth the warriors are just people forced into an army by Raz
Unrelated but the claws on the wolf mask warriors remind me of Shredder’s steel claws/gauntlets.
Looking at the markings on the mask that appears when then glow, they kinda remind me of Sukunas tattoos . . . 🤔
About cinder I'm surprised he was able to beat the ninja when his training was breaking vases kai and jay literally divided about 100 layers of bricks for fun
In the book of shaterspin with garmadon as the main character we see statues of them so they are probably awakened by the gong of shattering
Yea I definitely agree. They come out of nowhere at the end of episode 1 and it’s just never explained. Plus their numbers are constantly inconsistent throughout the season as in episode one there were so many of them and then in episode 10 there were maybe like 60? Also there power level I find kinda odd as when Rox corrupts the wolf warriors she says that Ras has barely scratched the surface of there true powers and yet I feel like they were beaten pretty easily compared to Ras wolf warriors in previous episodes. However, the one thing I find interesting is that in episode 10, when Cinder takes one of the wolf masks from a warrior, they don’t show who or what is under the mask. So maybe that will be explained in season 3?
My question is whenever an elemental master uses the mask it melts into armor, does it ever revert back to a mask? Is it stuck as armor? How long does it last for before needing to use another mask? Does it get absorbed into that persons body which permanently corrupts a bit of them, and if their fully corrupted do they still need a mask to do shatterspin?
Something else done to steal any context whatsoever from the Wolf Warriors is that when Cinder steals a Mask from some random Wolf Mask Warrior, we never get to see the faceless warrior. Granted, we do have the sets to show us their faces, possibly proving that these guys really are humans, but I doubt it since that has happened multiple times before and it has ended up being non-canon.

the short of it is that he barely has an actual character. hes a tropey edgy villain which is fun but i know nothing about the guy. compare him to jordana who is such an incredibly well fleshed out villain and its absolutely night and day. the issues with cinder are more or less the same as the actual wolf guys themselves

Ya in episode 21 when Ras said we will gather the most powerful beings in the merge realms I thought he was talking about the wolf mask warriors then I found out he was talking about the five so then I thought he and Jordana when around putting wolf mask of people and shattering there goodness but I guess not?
To be honest it doesn't really bother me much, i really feel like we think we had high expectations because we come from a season with a villain faction such as imperium. That being said it was frustrating not knowing what or who or where they cone from. However the biggest flom for me in s2 is cinder like bro is kinda just there to fight and be menacing and that's it. Really dissapointed by him this season

I think Ras was able to gain The Wolf warrior’s trust and loyalty, by promising them big stuff, mostly power through the wolf masks as long as they help him free the forbidden five

Calling this season great really rubs me the wrong way, the tournament was extremely underwhelming in my opinion, the first half was great, the second half ruined it
I thought the whole season told a really compelling story about how self doubt and desperation can poison someone against the things they love. Really bold direction they took Arin in. I definitely prefer Part 1 though.
