As someone who has no knowledge of motorcycles and is a complete beginner, learning these tips was very important and crucial for me. Thank you so much for creating such an informative and high-quality video explaining the suspension and its adjustments. I could see that a lot of time was even spent preparing those 2D animations. This video created a flawless image in my mind. Please continue making videos like this, dear Robert; not many people create such content and spend time with their audience with this level of care and precision. You are truly an example to follow. Wishing you success! 🤘🏍
(7:40) Adjusting sag with preload helps to fix the angle and tracktion but also limiting the suspension travel. Thats why we need spring with correct stiffness at first. With too stiff spring its impossible to get correct sag and with not enough stiff spring its impossible to get enough suspension travel. Great content thanks.
Loved your video mate, you have finally answered a lot of questions I had about suspension terminology. Your English is excellent, thank you so much. 👍👍🇦🇺👍🇦🇺👍🇦🇺👍🇦🇺
Although setting suspension is something I know I watches your video and I have to say you gave a really really good easy and fun explanation about suspension and how to adjust it - brilliant!
Thanks for this video Robert. It will be a valuable, easy to follow guide when I start a custom set up on my Transalp 650 for the 1st time after riding it stock for 2 years. I saw this video in your Nomad Sweden channel. Wishing your success with the new channel.
Great stuff, well explained. The Rally Raid Adventure rear shock (£1,200) has separate low and high-speed adjustments for compression. The high-speed adjustment allows the shock to close more quickly with a higher force on the wheel, such as hitting a rock or log. Setting it correctly prevents you from being bounced off and jump landings more comfortably. They also supply springs to match your weight (plus pillion and luggage weight). There is no need for this expense for general off-road, just if you want to hit the difficult trails 🤣 There are a few high-end shocks available from different companies. Adam Riemann uses a Touratek rear (£1,400) and progressive front springs.
Excelent! Thank you! The best video (ever) I saw, explaining how suspension works!... And about front springs? I change my T7 rear sping (Off The Road store - 2 step harder than the stock ones: 85nm) but aslo the font springs. Huge diference :))). How much nm is your new spring? I'm 90kg with all gear, and my T7 as, central stand, heavy crashbars, aluminium side cases....etc... Regards from Portugal. By the way, I wish you very luck with your new AJP PR7, a very nice portuguese bike :)))))
Thank you! My front spring is K-tech spring kit 6,9N. Not sure why they have a different unit, but it was the suspension people that chose it for me. Thanks Portugal for the new bike :)
If you measure the 30% spring sag, shouldn’t you measure it at the spring? Because the way you showed it in the video you are comparing the 6cm/30% spring travel to the wheel travel. But since the rear wheel is connected to the spring via the swing arm the wheel is on a lever. So in my mind 6cm wheel travel can’t be the same as 6cm spring travel.

Hi Robert, That was a masterclass ! thank you , understanding it a bit better now.
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for the contribution 👍🏻
Superb explanation of suspension basics. Keep up content like this and you will see your new channel grow rapidly!

Thanks mate. Indeed a lot of great, but pricey upgrades.
@@rbaldinger I want all the upgrades but my other hobby, having a home recording studio, also costs a fortune to buy new toys 🤣
Excellent easy to understand explanation!
Thanks! Glad you liked it
Thanks for this deep dive. And keep up with your new channel.
Thanks, will do!
Såå bra! Tack. God Jul! 🎅

Hey Robert....All the best from Canada!
Thank you Kenneth!
Excellent explanation, many thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Live this video so much that I still remember it from the other channel 🙂
Yes I brought it here since it is a favorite and I spent so much time making it
Very well explained. Thank you.
Cheers
Thank you!
Well said. Great.
Thanks 😊
Good job!
Thanks 🙏
👍👍👍👍
Great explanation, thanks!
Thank you
Very informative video.
Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Well done!!
Thanks a lot
what about adjusting the front suspension? Don't you think that a motorcycle that does not have this adjustment option is worthless?
THe front should ofcourse be set up as well. I focus only on rear in this video as it needs to be adjusted more often, at least with preload.
Well this Dutch lady liked the video 😂
Haha thank you 😊
Excellent video

"75 kg Dutch lady" lmfao
We all know her 😊
Schysst video!

200mm is the suspension travel not the spring travel. Hence he is correct with his explanation.
@ sorry but I do not follow, the spring is part of the suspension so those travel numbers must be similar.
@@2wheels1guy25not with connecting rod.
I learnt this from youtube :) I get your point but it is how the pro's seem to do it
Dutch Lady .....😂😂😂
Haha indeed
I'm a 175 cm tall and 75 kg dutch guy. I gues I dont need to do anything about my cf 450 mt suspension😂😂😂
Eat more 😂
I guess you are fine :) Cheers
I identify as a cute little Dutch lady FYI
Haha that's awesome :D
Pre-load will not fix your sag 🫢
