Great but you kinda need that security for your employees.
Maybe they’re getting passkey for their workstations too 😂
You honestly think a tech company doesn't have 2FA for logins?
the problem isn't the technical security. The problem is the employees getting scammed into doing the wrong thing by master manipulators.
hello insomniac
I'll never forget the day the Playstation 3 network was hacked on Christmas day long ago
Your employee need more of this

@@KINETIC_EDITZ what with them
I find it quite funny how Sony have an iPhone shown in the video instead of a phone that is literally made by them (basically an Xperia phone).
@@d8l835 the point is that Sony doesn't showcase their own product but instead show another brands product. If you create a product are you not going to be proud enough to show your own product or are you going to show another brands product instead?
Sony Playstation is a very different company from Sony Mobile. Same stupid argument as “iPhOnE diSpLaYs aRe MaDe bY sAmsUnG”, like yeah, Samsung Display and not their competitor Samsung Mobile. Also, as far as I know, Sony phones have no form of biometric authentication as reliable as Apple’s Face ID. iPhones and their Face ID are also far more recognizable, which is the best for advertising a new technology that we’re trying to popularize as much as possible.
whole different company bro
Face id de iphone tiene la mejor tecnología en reconocimiento de rostro y seguridad al nivel bancario, quien mas lo tiene? NADIE.
@@gutzbin Uhh A fingerprint scanner is still the superior option here and it's on most phones
Can we get an ability/feature that lets us gift games to our friends and family?
They're called gift cards.
Wait, you can't do that on Playstation?
@rp7r23 No, and it's stupid. The closest thing we have is game sharing but once you take them of your account they loose all the games
@@Roar_Restored Do you think it's the same thing? Do you give gift cards to your friends, maybe? Sad.
Many games also have digital code options you can buy and gift. Or just get a disc if they have a disc version.
Now give the option to organize my trophy list the way i like it.
Alphabetical order and the option to delete any trophy list.
Deleting a trophy list would make the measurement obsolete. Then everyone would have 100% and only 500 Mayo games to beat. But if you have played My Little Pony, then you can hide the list.
@@SeruHaru I don't care about the hiding feature, my trophy list is only for me to see anyway.
I just want the option to organize it.
Also, not a pony, i don't care about consoles and fanbases war.
i have to agree. for example ive played sooo many games with ps plus premium just to test them and just played them a hour or so. i cannot delete the 1% trophy list
Agree, enable us to customize our profile trophies like steam profile.
+enable us to change region (even if we have to pay) please
Exactly. There are so many games I just install to give a try & then after 10 minutes I don't like it so I never play it ever again. But their trophies still show on my trophy list it triggers my OCD. So many 1% trophies on games I'm never gonna continue.
Why can't I delete trophies or games that I have no intention of playing/continuing??? This is the most BS thing on PlayStation.
I don’t even remember the last time I had to actually type my password to login in my psn account. 😅
Some people have it on for purchases & stuff
not when u login on app or website
@@davidquintero4575how often do you even buy something on ps that makes it inconvenient to write down your password?
I liked the part where they explain it
Look at the description of the video.
It might've come in handy, a few years ago too, lol😮
Pretty sure this is am answer after they got hacked
This didn't exist a few years ago, this isn't 2FA, this sends no passwords to servers at all, it sends a one use only key that is burned as soon as you're in, this is bank level security. You'll realise it's importance in a few months.
Microsoft as xbox did this years ago bruh@@yanceyboyz
@yanceyboyz that's probably too complicated for any of them to understand tbh
Ofcourse ethey wont 😂 @@Awaks
This is the funniest ad I've seen. As if the games had something to do with the passkey
It's a game console, what do you think they're gonna show?
Nothing, they should have showed nothing. This 46 second video was pointless.
To be fair, not enough people take online security serious, I'm glad, just like when they added app 2FA, now we have passkeys, makes it even harder for someone to steal your account.
@@Heatspore It's not pointless. It's marketing. You need to show the feature like it's something "cool". Otherwise people won't care...
@@coke1412 nobody cares regardless this is a “feature” that every other app ever has had for years. Could have been shown in a blog post or on your console. It makes no sense showing it like this.
So I just sign in on my phone. Got it…
I don't have a smart phone though.
@@MacUser2-il2cxIt may support the hardware Yubikeys, etc. They are also part of the Passkey spec AFAIK.
I'll test later.
Its 2024. How do you not?@@MacUser2-il2cx
@@MacUser2-il2cx You can use face ID or touch ID on your Mac or whatever the Mac idk I never used one. If your username is lying then you can use windows hello.
@@MacUser2-il2cx But you have a console? Hmm interesting
My only question is, are we guaranteed to get less captcha challenges with passkey sign in vs passwords sign in?
so you use your mobile device/smart phone to sign in to the network on your console.
but what do you do 8f you lost or your phone was stolen🤔❓️hmmm...
Then ur screwed, so it's a bad deal imo
You can generate more than one pass key and access option
Yes what if you lose you're device you have it on how does that work?
That'd be nice if I could actually sign in to the app. All I get is "server timed out" errors over and over 😡
I'm having the same issue it's so annoying
U gotta remember the key fast and hurry up and enter then numbers then press tab and go back to the app it will log in, had that problem until I did it fast
0:18 that's cool, know what would be even faster, popping in a disk and not having to wait for it to install or download updates.
You're literally asking for something that's impossible 😂

@@pieck5460 ps2 and ps1 games did that 💀
options to see time played on any other games than just "recently played" from the PS app?
I wish
Just get a ps5
@saulgoodman1142 I have one but I wanted to show my dad. my brother and my time played through the app, but you can't
@@Cthulhuly then take a picture of the hours you played on the games you want to show
@saulgoodman1142 fair enough I can do that
I tried to activate it and it locked me out of my account. I had to do an account recovery just to sign in
That's neat and all, but I actually still prefer signing into my PSN account with just a regular password instead since I've always just been so used to signing in that way and everything. Hopefully Sony won't remove that feature though with a future system update or something because otherwise if they do, then we would just have to sign in with a passkey instead.
More secure than a password
I kinda get what you mean but this is way better than a password you can turn the option on or off. It’s probably way better than 2 step because someone can social engineer to get your phone number and bypass two step. Passkey will probably be the future maybe in like 10 years
@@nlvassassin I know it is, but I've always been just so used to using passwords though which I still personally use.
@@H8RSAPPRECIATE Yeah. I know passkeys seem better and all, but I've always been just so used to using passwords all this time which I still use for all of my accounts including here on TH-cam too for my TH-cam channel/account. At least Sony gives us the option though of turning this option on and off and hopefully they won't remove the password feature either since some people like me still prefer using them that way.
@@pepsidude8919My guess is that passwords will be phased out from most platforms in a few years. There's a lot of momentum behind passwordless auth.
will this break vita PSN access like 2fa did?
Wooooooow, that’s incredible. I can’t wait to start using it once or twice every seven years.
Now this is truly a Nex Gen moment!!!
I did't think i had to clarify, but... I was SARCASTIC
Maybe a gen ago

It's also coming to PS4, so I'm not sure what you mean
😂
One might almost call it a AAAA moment 🤣
What happens when you lose your "trusted device"? Why they always gotta change things, ive never had an issue the way it is now
It's optional
@@Monke800Don't be shocked if it'll start being forced at some point. I've already started receiving weekly notifications about it.
What if I don't want to use this. I keep getting "connection to server timed out" when I use my password.
Will this work for the PSVita and PS3 as well?
Thanks Sony for anyone trying to do this this is an absolute nightmare, not only is two factor authentication removed, you also need a device with browser that that's compatible with pass keys even though your device may already be using a passkey/pin code/swipe lock or other biometrics. Then after setup, it'll ask you to sign in with a device that is compatible with a browser using pass keys. Why can't I just use the device I've set it up with??? Confusing definitely, ease of use in theory, it should be simple. Overall this has been an incredibly frustrating experience & I had to reset the password & use account recovery just to log back in. Bravo, Bravo sony 👏 nothing is ever simple with your company is it?
I get what you mean but for example if I use a old iPhone 4 it obviously won’t work because it doesn’t have the technology yes you could have the newest smartphone with that technology like Face ID, Fingerprint To unlock etc but they would need to work or take time to perfect with other companies so it’s not perfect Right now
@@H8RSAPPRECIATE true, trying to make something like this across all devices must present it's challenges. I just wish it was as simple as they've made out it out to be.
@@michaelthompson785 i feel like in a few years they will perfect it and all newer devices/ smart phones will have this in the future
I had no problems. Used multiple security keys. go in on all my devices, apps and computers just fine.@@michaelthompson785
This is more of an adoption problem than a Sony problem. (Even tho 2FA is still a thing.)
But this may soon be a thing of a past once more Password Managers adds Passkey support.
Well I activated passkey and now I can't sign in :D
Skill issue
Imagine breaking something that was completely functional
Does this work similar to the encryption method used in credit and debit cards with the microchips?
So how this this make me player faster?
I don't need a login to play a game. Know jda confusing video
This could’ve been useful a few times in the past right Sony?
Ya machine guns coulda been useful in the 1700s too
@@ericseanlynchI wish guns exist in medival period like our modern guns imagine how much action we could have seen now
@@ericseanlynch Difference was this tech was available, but they just kept old security standards and got hacked on several occasions. You would have thought they would learned after the ps3 incidents, but no.
@@Gamerboy-gl7diFor what ? The planet would no longer be the same after so many bombs had already been launched
@@danielgrezda3339 Actually this tech is quite new. This was initially created in 2016 and it became ready to use in for the masses in 2019. However it still needed to be proven tech by then. So yes enterprises need to be held accountable and need to learn from their incidents although ... but yea this tech was not around during the ps3 incident.
Thanks love the app 💙
Just checked again to turn this on and still can't sign in... a week of server connection time outs ffs
What I really wanna know is if we can still gameshare when we activate this
Nice you created something complex to keep us safe. Can you make it possible to use our photos as wallpapers
This seems really neat and all, but I actually still prefer signing into my PSN account with just a regular password instead since I've always just been so used to signing in that way and everything. I know this is 2024 now already, but personally for me, I'm actually kind of an old-fashioned person. I still do things like it's 2003 almost or something, so I still prefer signing into my PSN account with a password which I still like to do along with all of my other online accounts that I have and use as well since I'm only just saying.
Can we get an ability / feature that allows us to create a passkey, that creates another passkey?
I have no idea why but it's not working with my pixel. Everything sets up right and then when I try to log in via my passkey it just says "no passkeys for this device"
Am just happy they still care about the ps4.
I know right! I finally upgraded from a PS2 to a PS4 years ago I love my PS4, so I’m glad to that Sony still comes out with games for PS4.
Yall can take this back and give us backwards compatibility with PS1-3.

Is this where you can transfer your games and game data from ps4 to ps5?
FInally, tried it, love it!
For some reason, it won't work with MS Authenticator. Can someone help?
...I mean I guess the real question is why would we give them more of ourselves when they just had a massive issue with security in regards to sensitive information being sold and hacked etc...
Is this for logging onto your account from a friend's console? Cause it seems kinda pointless for at home

SONY: "We are updating and improving our cryptography"
"Oh oH ThAT soUndS A LitTle *SUSSY*"
NOTE: In the U.S., I'm fairly certain that using the fingerprint/face scan in this way will mean that the police can legally access everything on your PlayStation, whereas if you just have a PIN, they have to get a warrant. That's the case currently with unlocking your phone, they can't force you to give up your PIN without a warrant, but an image of your face or fingerprint is something they can already legally obtain anyway.
If you have something on your playstation that you want to hide from the police then I feel bad for you...

How is this any different than what I'm doing now? I'm already using Face/Touch ID to with all my passwords.
It would be great if we could chose to keep the 2FA. I'm thinking like, Passkeys instead of password, but 2FA to authenticate purchases when already authenticated.
I think Sony needs to use this for their own security.
would be cool if the next gen controllers had a finger print sensor in them.
Sony: Boys I got an idea for the DualShift!
I literally just turn my PS5 on, and I start playing. What in the world do we need this for?
It's for logging in. A passkey replaces a password in most circumstances. Would make logging into other devices, future devices, or your current device, if it gets logged out, significantly easier.
@@DominicSnyder Clock the speed difference.🤣
@@DominicSnyder not so much easier as it is safer since the passkey is locked to the device it is on. the only way for a criminal to hack in ( other than attempting to contact sony support and pretending to be you ) is to physically steal the device you use to log in. But this is why you should have multiple devices you use as the passkey as a failsafe.
Is this why I haven't been able to log on for a week on any device save the ps5????
So if I enable this, how does that affect me when I want to turn on my 60GB PS3? You know, that machine that let me insert any physical disc from prior generations and play the games I own natively without the hassle or degradation of streaming or being forced to repurchase titles I already own? Does passkey authentication work there?
Stop being a peasent
As someone who has auto sign enabled and doesn’t have anyone else on my PS5, I see this as an absolute win. 😂
It removes the password from your account, so if someone hacks Sony's network, they can't steal your password, and by extension, your account.
@@ScottLHowe Fair point. But let’s be honest do u really think that’s going to work? Most companies would implement this sort of thing after just one hack, Sony’s been hacked literally like 5 or 6 times already and that’s not even an exaggeration. 😂 Sad to say I’m sure somebody will figure out a way around this.
@@adh2298 Passkeys haven't really been a thing until fairly recently. FIDO2 was available but few people are going to go buy a physical key to plug into their devices. If someone figures out a way around it we are in much bigger trouble than a lost PS account since it means someone has found away around public/private key encryption and signing that the entire internet functions on.
no, just your biometrics. @@ScottLHowe
@@adh2298 Your credit card issuer has probably been hacked recently. Your email, Your shopping apps. All still get hacked. Most of them hold more information than your PlayStation account. Most are targeted more than your PlayStation account. Yet they don't have this lol
Were… people having trouble signing into PlayStation? Does it not auto sign you in when you turn on your controller?
can we get a sequal to the psp/vita instead. one that is a standalone
I thought we already had this 💀
Thats was 2 step verification.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😢 Oh noes, the comment section crashed and froze the official account, AGAIN!
Sony claiming your account is safe is laughable. Just remembering the other times their security was hacked and personal info was leaked. What does this offer to ensure a safer security than the last setup?
Exactly! Maybe they should just stop trying to grab everyones data. That would prevent all this from happening.
Facts you should have seen like 1-2 years ago psn accounts were getting jacked like crazy it didn’t matter what region if it had 2 step or was protected it could still get stolen. I guess passkey is better than 2 step since they would need your physical phone or device to login lol
With passkey you can’t login with your password at all, only biometrics
I dont understand when people say this when most pc run off microsoft and are hack constantly
Wait… I just enabled this and it says the iPhone browser isn’t supported!?
I tried passkey but it is not working. Ps app on my phone keeps returning to log in screen.
Can’t wait to sign in and try this! 🔥🔥🔥
It just looks like a reason for them to ask and have more of my data that I honestly don't want to give them.
Everybody blind cows these days
Hate to be the one to tell you this but your information is all already out there. And companies a lot scarier than Sony have access to it.
I can literally sign in with my 4 digit pin in half a second vs pulling out my phone, opening the app, accepting the prompts (also requires cell / internet access)
I already use 2fa for my Sony account. How is this different?
Definitely setting up the passkey🥂😎
Just another distraction for PS5 having no original games. I'll keep my PS3/PS4 and just play those games thank you very much.
?
Don't get it. I am signing in when I start my Playstation...
Why they are showing iphone instead of their sony phone?
Ooh sure, that's totally not gonna backfire in some dystopic way. C'mon Sony, you guys get some major security hack every generation of videogames. You really think I'll trust you with my mug?
How about fixing your empty PS5 console by putting something in it
Looks super cool. How do I secure my PS Passkey Bracelet so I can start signing into my PS?
It's buggy! I set it up on my laptop and all worked fine. But then I tried to add mobile Android device and I get in a loophole. Even when I try to make a new key on the laptop and send it to the device, it keeps asking for passkey on the mobile. But there isn't any so I'm blocked out. Seems it's not matured yet in terms of development and has lots of startup issues
Can i activate from PS app ?
they did not just produce an entire commercial for what it essentially steam guard
Or any other authenticator app out there 😂
Pretty much
@@hw_driver5988not at all, steamguard still sends your password to servers and then 2FA ....this never sends your password and sends a one time key each time that is burned. It's ultra safe Vs 2FA. Your details can never be compromised if your details are never sent or required....
Its not 2 factor authentication- its closed to persistent OKTA style sign in or an apple sign in. You can sign into your PS5 purely with biometrics without entering anything else. Thats what it is- not a 2nd factor.
You watched it, so they're already winning 😂😂😂😂
Please tell me this won't be forced. I hate passkeys. My login should never be dependent on another device.
They secretly signed a deal with apple :)
It seems forced. I get "connection to server timed out" when I don't use this passkey. I don't want to depend on another device like you.
They send me weekly notifications about it. So yeah, seems like it could be at some point.
I tried it, set it up on my phone.
Then it wanted me to log i to the app on my phone by requiring I scan a QR code....thats being displayed on my phone.
I was locked out of my PSN account till I did a password reset.
TLDR: this aint ready for public use.
Does it have a 32mb memory card integrated in?
Why would I need this if I can just put my numerical passcode every time? It only takes like 2 seconds.
Im switching to PC, so my general use with play station is useless? Pay for extra security that's something the company should provide by default
The best part of this is that when I go to the web address and try to sign it, it says "Something went wrong" as soon as I input my Sign-in ID (email address).
Edit: Hmmm, seems to be a Firefox problem. Worked right away on Edge, my backup when FF poops the bed.
Let us delete ps4 version of the game on the home screen permanently when playing the ps5 upgrade off the ps4 disc.
Couldn‘t you do this already with apple phones, ipads, etc.
so when my security code will reach to my phone ?
so just steam guard?
Is this again something that is region blocked like the app and some other services?
It tells me that it is impossible to create it on my mobile phone ( nothing phone 1 )
I have issue I didn’t receive my two step verification code
I’m glad Passkeys have been added, however when signing in on PS5, it sends a notification to the PS App, rather than a Passkey QR Code, and also, it disables Password Protected Purchases on Console which diminished security. Please fix these issues
I will say, to be fair. The password protected purcahses always confused me. If someone got access to my account, they already know my password. The better choice instead is to not save payment info on your account. I add it when I want to make a purchase, then afterwards I remove it. You can never be too careful
@@t83ndnsk3k I think it’s more so that if somebody breaks into your house and steals your console, your payment information and PS account would already be logged in, meaning they can access your bank account
Your employees need this more than the public
This work on my steam deck?
Will this be released on Xbox Game Pass too?
Can you make it so I can plug in ps controllers to pc and just play
So you're saying you can use fingerprint now?
I’m confused… this ad didn’t show me anything I haven’t already been using for the passed year
Single use authenticator log on? Not on ps you weren't
I need to set this up. next time I get home. for now I use two step verification. so is passkey better or the same?
It is supposed to be more convenient with the same level of security as 2FA.
I love this new feature 👍🤩👍👏👏👏👏👏
why don’t we have a search app yet
Great! Now I am secure all of the 3 games that the PS5 has!
How do you log in on console?
So it's basically steam guard for playstation
