      The Grand Sport only comes with two options, steel rotors or carbon ceramic. If you have steel rotors then those are the pads you need.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I just did the first pad swap (stock for stock because I'm ok with the brake dust) on my 2015 Corvette Z06/Z07. I couldn't believe how easy it was. I would buy this car again just for the ease of brake pad changes since I track my car. The first set I paused the video a couple times to get a handle on things, grab the right tool, set the torque wrench, etc as I moved through the procedure. The second set of pads took LESS time than this video and that included wheel back on, lugs torqued and tools put away!
    PS - Don't forget "those Corvette guys" with carbon ceramic rotors that need to put the protective foam over their rotors before they take a wheel off. I guess they never figured how to pull a wheel off without dropping it on the rotor. That is likely why there are scratches on their calipers as well. Ha ha. Thanks again!

    First, you are correct about 'us' Corvette owners. We do get excited about avoiding scratches, doesn't matter where. A lot of people use the Hawk-Pads. I used PowerStop, Front Z23-1405, Rear Z23-1718. This were recommended because I don't track my car and I wanted to insure no squeals or noises. PowerStop has the Z26 for people who track their cars but these could squeal when cold. PowerStop also come with new hardware and cost less, about $60 per set from Amazon. Nice to have the brake dust reduced to very little. Nice video. Brembo brakes are the easiest to change pads~

    thanks musch for this video, I used it to help me change the pads on my c7 Z06. After replacing the pads, my pedal went to floor but I pumped it and it came back, but now it feels a little spongy. i did use Powerstop pads, not sure if that matters. • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tony bella I highly doubt you damaged anything. If you did not open the bleeder screws and let air into the system then the pedal should feel the same. The pads may not be gripping as tight as the OEM pads so your applying more pedal pressure to compensate. Good news is less dust for those pretty wheels. 😉 Enjoy your car.. -Glen

    Great Video Glen, TY very much. I noticed you have commented on everything but dust now with the Hawks. The reason I am changing the pads on my 18 GS is extreme dust with the Brembos. I have read where Hawk makes a great pad but they dust more than other ceramics. Your opinion?

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The amount of dust I would estimate to be about 65-70% less than the Brembo pads had. The wheels still need to be cleaned, just a whole lot less. That leaves more time to drive and my '18 now has 2,800 miles. Hope that helps you Dennis. Take it easy. -Glen

    Glen it Bob again with the 2016 z51. Would you consider doing a video to change out brake fluid? I am a 1 man shop so I plan to use the Motive Power Bleeder and GM Reservoir adaptor. I have a few questions. First based on the brake system layout in the vette, I hear that the bleed order is different than most cars (ie: starting with caliper furthest from master and work your way from there..). Also i believe you bleed the inbound bleeder 1st followed by outbound bleeder. I am not planning to track my car so assume Dot 3 is fine unless you have a different thought on this. Any idea on how much brake fluid to have on hand for this job? One final question on pad change, since i have 28k miles on my car am i taking a chance going with ceramic pads at this point in the rotor lifecycle? My concern it the rotors may quickly be eaten up and need to be changed following the pad upgrade. (Though i do like the idea of less dust, dont want to cause issues soon down the road.) Any thoughts would be appreciated!

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  ปีที่แล้ว

      A pint of DOT 3 brake fluid should be sufficient to do a brake flush. Pad slaps are done all the time and if the existing rotors meet minimum thickness I really don't see a problem not replacing them. Use dial calipers to check rotor thickness. Manual or vacuum assist bleeding is all that is necessary. If you have the power bleeder with bidirectional control then it's even easier. The longest brake line to the shortest is the standard brake bleeding procedure. There really is nothing special about the brake system. Have fun Bob!
