Lol! Exactly! I've shot on Phantoms before, and we'd literally shoot for 3-5 seconds, that's it. So 17 minutes and 29 seconds, well, that's just wild.

the problem is that the timer is counting even when camera is on standby. So if you film 10 seconds here, 5 seconds there, but the camera is always on, after 15-20min, it overheats.

I'm sure it depends on your environment, heat, wind speed, etc, but yeah, 17 minutes is great. I'd probably use 15 seconds of that to be honest. You're going to love it, and the update dropped just in time!

haha, nicely done! I actually use it to shoot a small music video production last month in San Jose, under 85 to 90 degrees sun. I used it for two days on and off. At the time I shot 4k 60p, Only overheated once. that's because I was shooting back to back close up shot of the artists for about an hour under the direct sun light @ 4pm or so. Which is not bad at all, for the price, and the quality. This was the main camera I was using, and a DJI Air 2S for aerial shots. I am very happy with the ZV-E1

I've been thinking about getting this camera. Currently have had a Panasonic GH6 for a year now havent been a fan of how the footage looks out of the camera without edits (compared to my old Fuji X-T3). One thing I love about the GH6 I've had zero issues recording in 4K120 outside. Just recently did about 15 min of recording out in the desert in about 100F didn't have an issue.

The 4K 120fps on the ZV-E1 is very nice, I've been testing it the last couple of days love it. The fact that it will overheat at some point is only natural for such a small camera, however, I personally will probably never overheat it as I use 120fps in short bursts up to 2 minutes max. I normally film in 25fps, unless I'm trying to get some broll.
