    Do they make it for A7IV? You mentioned that it could be used with an A7IV but does tilta make a cage for the A7IV that is also compatible with this fan?

    Hey Jason, try two things with that fan if you could. They aren't practical but an extreme case scenario for this fan.
    One, try and put a higher quality thermal conductor pad then the one on the fan, you can find quality thermal pads that conduct heat extremely well and fill the square space and then apply the fan and try an outdoor heat test. The second is slightly more extreme, find a large enough thin copper plate and put that as the pad between the fan and the camera. Just ideas, best of luck!

    Jason, do you know if this fan would fit the A7IV? Im not sure if all of Sony's flippy screens are the same but i was so disappointed with my A7IV, for the first time ever i recorded a school event performance for a school with kids with disabilities and the camera overheated ans shut down in 4K 30fps in 1 hour. I used a dummy battery with the display open and a FX Lion nano three external battery. The them was also said to High but the only thing i did forget to do was open the SD card cover. The A/C was On in the auditorium so i wouldn't consider it being too hot. I donated my time and the principal was happy that i was able to get the majority of the event but i would have been devastated being paid and this happening. 😵‍💫

    I've experimented with using my ZV-E1 as a webcam because, why not? My colleagues commented immediately on the image quality. But I found that it overheats much faster when web-camming than video recording. Lasts about 30-40 minutes in a 21 degree room for me. Have you found that? And does the tilta fan stretch the ZV-E1 to a point where I could do a full day's worth of meetings without overheating?

I don’t think I ever ran into over heating when I had a a7iii so I was frustrated and exchanged it for a new one. I’ve seen some other people posting about this fan. It kinda goes against why people liked the camera because of size, and also powering it just makes it too big. I think Sony needs to get the overheating issues figured out moving forward because as of now that’s the one major complaints from people here in Miami with these new cameras.

      its for versatility
      if you shooting short videos take the fans off, if you need to shoot long period rig it up

No commercial, just content creation and smaller video projects for my band. What to upgrade towards 10bit 4:2:2 and i would like to have a flip out screen. Should i buy FX30(i also have Sigma 18-35 from Canon times) or ZV E1 and keep a7iii for photos for both options? Or a7IV(60fps crop is not a big deal since i also consider fx30) and sell a7iii and Sigma 18-35?

I am a professional and have read all the posts on how to keep it from overheating but mine still over heats, albeit I shoot 90% of the time 60p 4K which really makes the camera work a lot harder to process , but it should NOT overheat like it does so quickly.. 'Band aid' solution 🙂. and Tilta makes good stuff, but if Sony (which makes good FX cameras) can't put a 2 dollar fan in all of it's full-frame cameras then I won't even look at the rest of it's features. The AF is fantastic, but we had Sony / Canon heat problems some 10 years ago. they put a fan in the FX30, so did Lumix (the most value-added cameras), so why not Sony? Frustrating.

  • @thenonadventure

    If overheating is a concern for anyone, consider getting the Sony FX30 instead. I know, I know, you lose FF, but if you're getting the ZV to save money in the first place, the cost of FF lenses negates that. Unless you're filming for Netflix, you won't likely be able to tell the difference either.

    • @mykeljewell
      @mykeljewell ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Agree that FF isnt “necessary” but if you’re budget allows for it and also if you already have FF lenses from other FF cameras (for example I have had the A73 and loved it for years and have built up a good set of lenses for it) but now want to upgrade to a better FF vid centric rig. The ZVE1 + this fan is still an incredibly better deal than the A7S3 or FX3. I think there’s space for a varied group of creatives and I think this fills a space in that world and minus the overheating the ZVE1 is a great value prop. Add this for $60 and it makes it something to consider.
      Side note - YES i do wish that Sony would’ve solved this issue from the get go without having to use 3rd party hardware BUT I can also concede that fitting that sensor and tech into an EXTREMELY portable product had to have some compromises somewhere.

    • @johnso2399
      @johnso2399 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cost of FF lens is in fact cheaper for the same equivalent lens . To achieve the look and light capture ability of a 35mm F2 FF lens, you need an APSC 24mm F1.4 lens, which is more expensive. You may tell me you don't need that low light ability, and APSC 24mm F2 is fine for you. But then with FF 35mm F4 or a slow zoom is dead cheap, and weight like feather.

    You didn't do a noise test to let us know how much noise is introduced to the sensor, due to heat, and how much that noise is reduced with the fan on.
    You also never showed how bulky the camera becomes once you mount an NP battery on it, which in mandatory for operation.

    Did tilta slip you a hundy for this review?
    Rigging up a fan that needs an external v mount battery bigger than the camera itself 😂 makes sense
    Not to mention unusable audio into the camera. Better carry my sm7b around for all my run and gun work
    Come on brooooo

      I have said this in about 6 videos that this camera was not designed for this long record time. This is an option for people who want to push those limits. I recommend people use the FX30, FX30 or FX6 for these super long record times because of the fan. Rigging out the camera in a professional set is what I do. Might not be what you do.
      I mean, you can make a better review video if you want. You do you

    I really like the cage and the top handle, the fan is stupid. You buy this camera for the size factor, then spend a boot load of money on a fan & a battery omg 🤯 By the time you add all this you should have got the FX range. I'm sure the stupid ppl will love it 🤣

      zve1 is the only camera that has ai autofocus chip that uses IMX 510 sensor
      Fx3 is like double the cost of zve1, and a7s3 doesn't have focus compensation feature.

      @@陆巍予 I thought they have the AI AF chip in the 6700 ?

      I agree. I don’t think the fan is needed but people want to use it for how it wasn’t designed

    Needed to compare to record times without the fan...This is just an advertisement otherwise...
