    People travelling from other countries are about to find out just how car-dependent everything in America is. Almost every stadium is outside of its city and everyone is expected to drive there so it has an enormous parking lot several times bigger than the stadium itself.

      I wonder if cities such as Houston, Dallas or Kansas City would implement some kind of public transit in their cities or attempt to fix their horrible urban planning issues for the event, like what Salt Lake City did with the 2002 olympics (they built light rail and the frontrunner to serve primarily the venue and now they're extensive transit systems that serve everyone and get better as time goes on).

      There is no football culture here. And the distances are immense. Russia was criticized bc supposedly the country was too big even though they put all the stadiums in the western part of the country. That won't be the case here. Why should they already get a second World Cup? There is not even any good public transport system here.

    • @roberw1912
      @roberw1912 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@luperamos7307 I sympathise but public transport will probably have to be provided to stadiums as part of the deal with FIFA. With other infrastructure already there is a little stadium repurposing costs and the trains will be improved.

    • @randomoneforstuff3696
      @randomoneforstuff3696 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@luperamos7307 Uhhh the public transport in the US is no worse than across-border public transport in Europe. Also, the distances are so far that to go from the East Coast to the West Coast it's just as fast as rail to drive along the interstates (i80, i30, or i20). And the US-Mexico border is so tight that there's no point in watching games in both countries; it's such a hassle to get over the border, so you basically either stay in the US and watch the games that are played there or you stay in Mexico and only watch the games that are played there.

    • @luperamos7307
      @luperamos7307 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@randomoneforstuff3696 So how can you even have countries join that have such a tight border? And the public transport is far worse in the US. Some guy even make videos about it. And the Olympics usually have that as a requirement, which is why many cities always built subways when they had the Olympics. For some reason that doesn't apply to Los Angeles. And for Fifa it used to be similar. You also assume that people can just easily pay to travel these huge distances. You basically would need to fly bc not even a rental car would help you cover those huge distances. And when you fly and stay in a city for 3 days you are probably better off using public transport, which doesn't really exist. I live in L.A. and you can't get anywhere without a car. Just to reach the lame subway here I have to drive 30 minutes by car. Then I have to take it 40 minutes in the wrong direction before connecting to go where I want to go and take another 40 plus minutes. They couldn't just build it straight and there aren't many lines. Freeways are always expanded and they basically resemble giant parking lots during rush hour. How fans should pay the prices here I don't know either. It's clear that only a very small segment of fans can afford this and cover those distances. It's basically a World Cup for people who live here and may have family here, which many Mexicans do.

      NFL Stadiums are designed like Airplanes seats, but instead Regular, Business and First Class Seats, it's Normal, Club Seats, and Suites. So much profit is made from the Suites that all newer NFL Stadiums are loaded with them. Wealthy Americans are distributed across the country and the idea of decentralizing the game is to hit the local markets. Average Americans tend to spend a lot for 1-2 NFL games a year, if the NFL played every day the tickets would be worth much less, same with soccer. Since there is only 6-8 games in each city, their going to make a lot of money per game relative to having the entire tournament in one city.

    As an American, who also loves soccer/football, I am very excited for World Cup 2026.
    If any fans, who do not live in North America, especially America, you will need to understand how vast the countries are. It is commonly said that in Europe, if you take a train for 4 hours, you might have been through 5 different countries. However in the US, 4 hours in the US might have taken you one State over, or maybe none. The American Public Transportation system is very, very underdeveloped sadly. You will need to either arrange a rental car, or a ride share. The size of the US is an understatement. Please do not think you can hit LA, NYC, Miami, Dallas, and Chicago all in 1 or 2 days, unless you fly.

With each USA NFL stadium being World Cup Capacity, and 25 NCAA Tackle Football Stadiums being close to capacity, (American Tackle Football and FIFA football stadiums are like the same size, except different goal shapes.) Being from here in Regina, the transit system is not suited enough to hold that much spectators or tourist coming into the city for such a huge event. Though CFL games have designated transit but for park and rides at malls or downtown parkades. The stadium is the only thing going for Regina, at least Toronto and Vancouver has its greater metropolitan area to do other stuff than just the World Cup games. That’s why most transit systems like the Montreal Metro was created and the temporary Vancouver Streetcar for their Olympics.
