This is why the World Cup in 2026 in North America makes perfect sense. In Mexico, they use the stadiums for their own soccer teams. In America, we have football and soccer and concerts and other events at the stadiums. And in Canada, they have the exact same thing. There won’t be any of this tearing down a stadium that’s been used for a month.

That's why the world cup should be hosted by countries that have successful domestic leagues. Germany didn't have this problem because all their stadiums were used by local clubs that could fill the stadiums. Brazil could've avoided this problem because they have a big enough domestic league but they wanted to build new stadiums anyways

Most of the Brazilian stadiums are being used regularly. The major issues were the construction of stadiums on locals with weak teams with no local supporters like Manaus and Brasilia because they wanted to contemplate all Brazilian regions, even the ones where football isn't strong. Out of the 12 stadiums, I'd say like 8 or 9 are successful. The video also failed to mention that they were used to host the 2019 and 2021 Copa America. So, 4 major tournaments if you include the Summer Olympics

The 220 billion was spent on the massive national development project that was not directly related to the world cup. The world cup was a way to put a deadline on that project and push it to the finish line. Stadium spending was a very small fraction. For instance, the metro system is included in this, and I've been using it since 2019. It took hundreds of thousands of cars off the road and is a great way to get around the city without driving. That wasn't built just for the world cup. Similarly, Lusail city has been hosting government and commercial offices and has attracted people to its residential area for years now. It's not a city built for the world cup.
Qatar made a huge mistake in advertising the $220B as much as it did, but as it turns out it's $220B over 12 years. That's about $18B/year for roads, utilities, public transport, administrative and IT developments, hospitals, an airport, a new sea port area, and much more.

Directly related to building the stadiums though, only four people have died.
What isn't okay is the conditions in which these workers labour in. The heat is incredibly bad for the health, even with the water stations available on worksites. For many, accomodation is also terrible due to their low salaries that they already send most of to their families. This situation exists everywhere throught the Middle East and North Africa, unfortunately.
Calling Qatar a slave state is no longer valid, though, following the abolishment of the Kafala system in 2016. I just hope labour conditions improve in Qatar, with higher pay especially and easier access to healthcare.

Here in Sydney, we still have all of our infrastructure from the 2000 Olympic Games only with the exception of a bit of extra seating for Stadium Australia (or whatever it's called now) and the Olympic Park isn't a dead area either with new development going in around it.

6000? That's fake. I am living in qatar for years. 500 smthng people died . Do u think these people died from hunger, poor accommodation, works load, accidents from the work place ?
12 years 500 people. Is that a huge number? Highly paid Doctors, engineers, nurses, accountants are included in this 500. People only imagining the terrific death of building workers.. In summer the companies change the time of the field workers. Provide free food and accommodation, free transportation free flight tickets( each and every migrant workers ). You should check the population of qatar. Below 10 % is qatari citizen. 90% are migrant workers from india Pakistan, Philippines, Bangladesh srilanka and other countries. We r happy here. Dont believe this fake media.

Fifa should work with contractors to provide temporary stadiums to countries that need them to host the world cup. Also in general just let countries with successful domestic leagues host the world cup instead of random non footballing countries. Hell even just letting a modern country like the US is a good idea since they already have existing infrastructure. All thats needed is to convert the stadiums to meet the needs of FIFA world cup. Modern countries also have hotels and relevant accomodations for the huge influx of tourists and will also see the stadiums be used just as they were before the world cup.

The question is would anyone want them the Football nations already have enough stadium for their teams buying one of Qatar would be seen as waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere other non football nations would view them as a drain on resources their major cities would likely already have a stadium with a similar capacity so having one is a waste. Poor nations would also have a similar problem as for that statement about Uruguay they and their joint bit with Argentina Chile and Paraguay plan to simply renovate their stadiums with Uruguay especially planning to renovate Estadio Centenrio which host the opening and final for the first ever World Cup

If there were to also add permanent apartments in the stadiums then they could have a constant cash flow.
