Do you think I could do real estate photography with the skydio 2. I like the functionality of it being a solo creating drone as well. People suggest the mavic pro 2 for real estate photography. My wife and I go on vacations that the skydio 2 would do better than the mavic
I have a few pros and cons of my own that I'd like to add: PROS: Manual mode isn't jerky like a lot of other drones. Yes, it goes where you want it to go, but it does it smoothly and surely, especially when recording. The new 360 Pano photo mode actually creates a full sphere, and it lets you preview the outcome before you shoot it, thanks to the 6 obstacle avoidance cameras. That's a very cool feature. I like the battery indicator, and how it adjusts depending on distance from the home point. Hand launching and landing are very solid, especially with that battery at the bottom. It seems to be a bit quieter than other aircraft I've flown, and I've flown quite a few. I get a lot of compliments about it. It looks way cool, and the obstacle avoidance helps avoid the embarrassment of crashing. The skills are pretty cool, especially Cable. Out of all the skills, I use Cable the most. CONS: Why can't I record without launching? That means I cannot use the awesome camera unless the aircraft is flying. That's not cool. Speaking of cool, that metal body sure gets hot fast. Sometimes, I'll launch only to be told I need to land because it's too hot. Of course, it wouldn't get so hot if I could get it to connect and launch a bit faster. What are you calibrating, why does it take 30 seconds each time, and why are you calibrating it 5 times before you're ready to fly? The whole time, you're just overheating. With the possible exception of Cable, I can perform most of the skills better flying manually than letting the AI fly. The drone loses the POI way too quickly. Even Cable can get goofy. Those lights are hard to see. The whole drone is hard to see when flying. Enterprise is expensive. It's like buying a new drone every year. Only it's not a new drone. It's the same old one, you're just paying for it again. The view on my phone is not an accurate representation of what is being captured. The colors and sharpness are fine, but the screen is not the correct ratio. That's a bit frustrating. Why no web-based or desktop-based waypoint setting like Litchi for DJI? This is a HUGELY useful feature, and it's completely ignored by Skydio. Waypoints are done within the phone app, which is cumbersome. I've added nav lights to mine. That makes it easier to see. I wish I could find a white wrap so I could try to get some of that heat off of it. I have a feeling the heat also affects the range.
Hey Billie, I just wanted to say thank you for the videos It makes it easier on us new pilots !!!!! Learing to fly is one thing that you can pick up quick. BUT shooting and EDITING footage is a long learing curve for me and people like YOU MAKE IT EASY!!!!
well this scene appears in many of his videos, like "can Mavic Mini shoot cinematic footage?" he's not satisfied with the speed, because he wanted to follow the train instead of being outrun by it.
I have a few videos on my channel of Skydio 2 cinematic shots and since there is literally no color grading needed I can do everything on-site from fly, capture, edit, and upload all in 4K 60fps from an iPad. Pretty incredible. But I agree the controller signal sucks. I do like the feel tho, but that’s just because I’m used to gaming controllers not flight controllers.
Footage is pretty sweet. It helps that I recognize all of those places, having grown up in South Jersey and attended many concerts and sporting events in Philadelphia. I have ancestors that lived where the art museum is now.
Hi Billy, do you know if Skydio even finished with their batch one shipping? I am really hoping they are on their batch two now. If not, I might be looking at Fall or Winter of 2020 for batch three. Edit: Just found out from Skydio Facebook that batch 3 has been delayed again to 3rd quarter of 2020. They haven't even finished with their batch one orders.
Can you shoot cinematic footage with the Skydio 2? Yes you can. You can also use multiple tools for any given project. The proper question would be is this the best tool for cinematic footage? And I think IMO it’s a resounding no. No because the transmission is bad and no because the controller is garbage. Skydio has so much going for them that I really look forward to Skydio 3. I have a feeling that more will be invested for the actual drone pilot. Not the guy who wants a drone to follow him and not crash. I think they got that part pretty much down. Now they need to focus on the drone pilot.
Oracle Miata I was a batch one preorder. BK and Ken both had less than desirable experiences with range and the controller and really helped me towards my cancellation. I also discovered that Skydio isn’t open to the general public. So if your local and wanted to simply drop it off you can’t do it. Xdynamics as well as Autel and DJI are all open to the public. It’s a minor thing, but it’s something I value given the close proximity of Skydio HQ is to my house.
I get that form factor is always a consideration but I agree with you that it would be nice if controllers featured gimbal paddles instead of the wheel. This time of year gloves are not optional where I live, so those paddles would give me a level of feel for gimbal control that the wheel doesn't, allowing me to operate longer in greater comfort.
Billy, Are there any settings you changed to fly over water? I had an issue with the Skydio trying to dive into the water and have avoided that situation.
Great video Billy! You went over some very strategic questions/answers that I think we’ve all been wondering. I, like you, think the controller looks a little cheap. Granted I’ve not held it, but it just doesn’t have that finished look that you get from the DJI controller. Keep it up man!
Hi! Great youtube channel for beginners like me in skydio drones. I Wonder if there’s flat color profile in the camera settings, something like a log profile? Also i guess it can’t capture 10-bit footage right?
Hello from the North Country here in Montana, great info on your channel, just subbed. I recently received my Skydio 2 and am following your tutorials videos. I have a question Billy, Once you go into adjusting your settings for pitch, yaw and so on, will those settings remain saved for future flights, or do I have to go in and re-adjust settings again ? Also do these settings effect how the drone operates when using the Beacon ?
Yes! definetly agree the color science and DR is amazing very noticeable, not like my mavic 2 always need to adjust setting before I can get a good exposure. and my air seem somehow doing just fine?
The color are amazing...but the video quality are not bad at all. I have seen other video of Drones videos like the DJI Phamom 4 Pro / Mavic 2 Pro with better video quality, but they are almost twice as expensive. So, now that I really think about, for the price range this video quality is actually quite nice!
Hi Billy. Love your videos. Very specific. Can you confirm whether you can shoot stills with this drone - or only videos? Also, could you fly this drone in a really confined space - like a 1m diameter concrete pipe?? Thanks
I realy hate the in-camera sharpening, in almost every shot I see moré, so every shot needs 1 pixel blur to get that out, great shots you did make, compliments.
HELP: During a hover has anyone experienced skydio2 begin to yaw (like your panning)? Not touching sticks. Happens at high altitudes. 300-400 feet. The yaw lasts a second or two and stops. It turns only a few degrees before it stops.
Definitely not a film makers drone in opinion.. but if your an action adventurer then go ahead and grab one.. other then that.. I would rather have a Mavic 1.. much better range, better performance, all around.. not to mention everything feels professional and at the same or lower price point.. remember guys if you can't see...... You can't fly!... I want to feel secure when I'm zipping around a thousand ft building or for that matter, zipping around anything.... I need to believe in my tool! Great TEC... But wait for Version 3 that will be the keeper, I'll bet on it! Thx Billy Michael
Hey Billy, I've been waiting for all the major YT voices to speak about the NPRM. You are the only one that hasn't. Unless I've missed it in which case a search on your channel brings no results. I only follow you on YT and I'm hoping to hear your thought and recommended actions. Your a strong influence on YT and again I'm wondering what you think.
Really nice review. Focused on one issue and fair. Some of the reviews almost sound like the reviewer is afraid of upsetting DJI. It's not just a follow-me drone as many want to peg it, but you hit the weaknesses well. Night shooting would be mine, but I am still just leaning so I need to fly well in day so have the same limit :)
The colours look great for no editing and u made some good points on the good and not so good , since we can't get skydio 2 in new zealand maybe i can wait for skydio 3 which hopefully can iron out those not so great features u pointed out but still skydio 2 is the best action drone on the market at present and it looks cool, cheers mate SB, down under middle earth .
I'm glad I ordered one now knowing the colors will closely match for corresponding GoPro footage without post-editing.
gopro auto coloring is amazing. this explains why the skydio color looks so nice. high dynamic range and popping colors.
If you get popping colors directly from a drone, it means you already lose the dynamic range and color depth.
Do you think I could do real estate photography with the skydio 2. I like the functionality of it being a solo creating drone as well. People suggest the mavic pro 2 for real estate photography. My wife and I go on vacations that the skydio 2 would do better than the mavic

Oracle Miata no sir, I ended up canceling shortly thereafter. Made a video on it on my channel. Very thankful BK and Ken got there hands on it so fast

I agree, the Skydio can shoot cinematic video. And colors do pop coming strait off the memory card.
Very Cinematic
Billy, Are there any settings you changed to fly over water? I had an issue with the Skydio trying to dive into the water and have avoided that situation.
Hi Billy, yes its a great drone, but will it look cinematic flying in a circle in a designated area once the FAA change the rules?
Have you thought about modifying the Skydio 2's remote controller with external antenna like accelerated heights
did with his Skydio?
Great video Billy! You went over some very strategic questions/answers that I think we’ve all been wondering. I, like you, think the controller looks a little cheap. Granted I’ve not held it, but it just doesn’t have that finished look that you get from the DJI controller. Keep it up man!

The video looks clean! 👍

Solid and to the point bro... Thank you
Nice video, the only thing I really notice is some banding in the sky, could be YT compression
No small sensor is going to equal even a micro 4/3 sensor. I do get your point.
Yes! definetly agree the color science and DR is amazing very noticeable, not like my mavic 2 always need to adjust setting before I can get a good exposure. and my air seem somehow doing just fine?
Is it possible to tilt camera in app or only controller has that lever thingy for it?
Very nice footage 📸 🏆
I wasn't aware that my Skydio2 was even capable of that kind of flying but I don't have the controller. I use my DJI for those shots. Thanks.
I'm assuming this was with no ND filters? Seeing some judder in the water. No NDs would explain that for sure.
I watch your videos all the time n I love how you always give an honest opinion of the drones your reviewing.
The color are amazing...but the video quality are not bad at all. I got one but you had better do your Flying in the Daylight because it won’t fly at dusk or night! Otherwise, it shoots very well!
Hi Billy. Love your videos. Very specific. Can you confirm whether you can shoot stills with this drone - or only videos? Also, could you fly this drone in a really confined space - like a 1m diameter concrete pipe?? Thanks
The train shot is stunning!
Could you share the title of the audio sample used in the first video?
Nice detailed review.
Thanks Billy
I realy hate the in-camera sharpening, in almost every shot I see moré, so every shot needs 1 pixel blur to get that out, great shots you did make, compliments.
Is there really no log profile??

Another Well Done video. Thanks.
Where can I get an original Phantom 4?
Are you still liking the Skydio, I just ordered one for cinematic vid.
Hi friend, please tell me where can I buy this?
I have the M2P and have never made it over 1 mile anywhere.
Hey @billykyle can this shoot 4k 24fps??? thanks!!!
Great video 👍
Why do you need to fly faster then 36mph
Love seeing the Patco Train on the Ben Franklin !

I noticed a zoom switch on the controller will it zoom? And could you show a sample?
Not a camera zoom. Flies the drone in or out while keeping the camera on the object being filmed.
The Controller looks Like the same from the Parrot Anafi 🤔
It is

Or wait for skydio 4 to get all the kinks out from skydiow 3
great vid Billy
I think the blue color of the dron body is something I could change
Nice Philly footage.
25 and 50 fps?
Sorry but in a lot of countrys you need to keep your in VLOS so 400m is the max
Finally got it to upload huh! 3rd time is the charm I guess!
Take 3
It’s been a long day man lol
Paddles look awkward, I have no problem with dials.
Saya ingin punya ini drone...?bisa hadiah dari From indonesia
Shooting plenty of cinematic with my Skydio fellas. Cause I’m not a range queen.
and most importantly you got one early :)
Fortunate. :)
First! Haha.
