You can tell she's really been hurt. She is so talented in the sense that she is so easily able to translate that pain through her voice, whilst it still sounding so sweet and delicate. UGHHH love love love
How do YOU know she's "really been hurt"?!? Maybe she's just very talented. Not everyone who can sing has had to have undergone some traumatic event in order to be as good as they are.
Joseph Usher You're right, there are plenty of talented singers, BUT there are few that sing with so much passion and emotion. You can feel her pain in every word and sound that she sings. We don't all "hear" music the same way. I can hear a song and feel like I'm in the music. My mother can hear the same song and may think that it just sounds good, but she's not moved by it.
@@JosephUsher Having a great voice doesn't have anything to do directly with what you've gone through in your life but the emotion in one's voice does. The level of emotion in her voice is what REALLY sells this. That depth of emotion you hear is not something someone can just manufacture. She's clearly pulling from a real place. There are plenty of phenomenal singers out there who sing with little emotion but are technically excellent. It's about the pain in her voice. Side note; the biscuits at Bojangles are fantastic.
I normally get tired of singers who just rely on constant vocal gymnastics, but for some reason I can't quit watching Yebba singing this. Phenomenal is the right word. Wow.
paxonearth she gives the runs meaning! It’s not just vocal circle jerking. I’ve watched this multiple dozen times already, this performance never gets old.
I have the flu and I just spent the entire day of today watching reaction videos to this most riveting live performance of the century💗....best day I ever wasted 👌
Her, jazmine, and adele. Because I feel like yebba has characteristics from both of them. Like she has adele a smooth tone but also smoky vocal quality. And she has jazmine power and agility.
I can’t count how many times I’ve watched reactions to this song, yours was the one that closely resembled my first time hearing her. There is nobody like her, it’s mind blowing that she’s still not huge
Love this performance, this artist, this reaction and this song. She is very special. I didn’t expect her chest to extend that high in her register in the climax towards the end and all those notes belted freely. The runs...the tone
OH MY...that was personal! I felt that in my soul, that's still running up and down my spine with major goosebumps having taken up residence on my entire body! "That's that one" like she didn't just destroy thousands of careers worldwide!?! This woman is a fantastic vocalist, a true artist! One thing in particular that I love is she's not afraid to push her voice to the edge which produces that gravely dirty sound. When a singer can pull you in so close you can feel there pain they are doing something very right, that is a gift! I think I need to go lay down and recover, the emotions are real...WOW, I was not prepared for that! She was all over the place, her range and head voice are ridiculous, she really has me emotionally screwed up right now...that's just something you can't shake off that quickly!
You can feel the pain radiating out of that performance, even if its not really her pain but a story shes telling you still feel all of the emotion, its overpowering!!!
I watched a lot of reactions to her performance, and you are the first one who really translate what I think which is that it is phenomenal and I also have never heard anything like that and even though some people have amazing abilities, she has a level that is really really rare I think. And the tone, the velvet of her voice, the beauty of her tone. It is really, I am also speechless even after listening to her over and over since about a week! She's got a very special gift!
You're so NOT easy to please jajaja I've seen that in many of your videos... But when you are pleased IT SHOWS and it's pleasant for us as viewers keep reacting bro kudos
I love that you did not stop the video.... She must have been hurt so deep. I felt every word...I'm in tears.. Thank you for showing us and for sharing your emotions
She's amazing and your reaction is spot-on but I'm dying laughing at 4:56 because her hand looks like it's the size of her head from the angle your TV is on lmaooooo
I needed to come across this. This was my granny's song. But she always sung it slow and acapella. When she died we discovered a tape of her singing it on the karaoke machine at Xmas and played it at her funeral. ❤
I would not have discovered her, if not for Clark Beckham singing with Post modern Jukebox, another musical group here on TH-cam. Clark Beckham was a contestant on American Idol years ago and did a duet with Abbey Smith, (singing here). Their duet was a cover of John Mayer's song called "Gravity". I discovered Abbey through that video and boy, am I glad I did! She is, like you said, phenomenal. She is sensational..omg.blew me away! I listened to this song over and over and over..Abbey totally transported me back to a relationship I had in my twenties. I was right back..Her pain, her sheer conviction.. especially when she sang, "no way, no way will she take you away from me", I was transported back in time, remembering my own sorrow. I'm over it now but wow..that performance was nothing short of amazing. Her vocals..her sweetness and her strength is what does it for me. This right here, is what EVERY performing artist should strive for! Singing from experience will always "win over" the audience over anything else.. because want to relate to the singer and that's exactly what's going on here.
Lisa T Everything you said is so on point and sounds so much like me, I had to check to see if I wrote it...lol. I had the same experience when hearing this song, for the first time. I’m married with 3 children, but this song took me back to a relationship that I had almost 12 yrs ago....I felt her pain in every note that she sang....whew!!
I have just discovered this phenomenal voice, those runs, the power, those RUNS, lot of soul with a rock edge I’ve got to hear everything she’s done now. My God her voice 😍
i hear adele, jazmine, and beyonce in her voice. adele tone, with jazz runs, and beys head voice transitions and beys jazzy echo thing thats she does. you can tell shes studied great vocalists
Wow!!! Mind blowing talent!! Amazingly talented...Speechless 😮❤❤❤ God bless her voice. Brought chills to my soul...no words can't describe how I felt listening to this beautiful woman sing, wow!! she is blessed!!! Love her already.
WOW YEBBA!!!!! SHE IS JUST AMAZING JUST AWSOME WOW,I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY. I HAVE SOME REALLY REALLY FAVORITE SINGERS THAT CAN REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY SING . OMGOOOOOODNESS YEBAA YOU JUST BLEW ME AWAY . WHAT SHE DOES WITH HER VOICE IS JUST AMAZING. SHE NEED TO MAKING MORE SONGS ,I WOULD LIKE TO HER A GOSPEL FROM HER . I BELIEVE SHE CAN RICK THAT TO. PLEASE COME BAVK WHEREVER YOU ARE.
Best way that I can convey how much I love this song goes like this my whole life has been about cars I grew up in a body shop I paint cars for a living I do airbrush work I spot cars in traffic on freeways I've been known to turn around you'll like a little girl when I see something that special needless to say if it has four wheels and drawers I have a connection with it..... I probably watched this video a hundred times before I notice that there was a car behind the guitarist now I know that seems like a strange thing to say but if you knew me at all that would absolutely floor you, I've never seen another performance we're at the end of the song The Artist opens their eyes and you can literally see the second that she realizes she's not alone that she's actually in room of people I wish there was another word in the English language that could describe how beautiful this song was but we'll have to settle for phenomenally perfect!!!
Loved your reaction....you felt it and I felt it deep in my soul, she gave it everything, it was beautiful, painful, heartfelt, tragic, sincere etc etc just mind blowing
She’s definitely her own vocalist, but I hear so many incredible homages to live Etta James runs and characterizations and even some Bjork fluctuations in the quiet places and then bringing in that gospel power. Not trying to diminish anything she does in the least . I’m just trying to elevate the appreciation of all the amazing vocalizations she is doing combined with her emotion. This song is simply incredible. It will entrance anyone who listens to it.
I'm a fan of you & her. Your reactions were prefect. I felt the same way . That Girl is BAD Michael Jackson Bad. Unbelievable talent. Just WOW!! Check her out doing SWV s "weak"
To me personally she sounds more like Jojo and Jazmine Sullivan combined.. in terms of rasp, runs, and the stylistic vowel choices Sounds like jojo especially in 1:52 in this video
Please listen to her song "Evergreen"---it was sung in church on the first occasion that she could bring herself back after her mother committed suicide. LOVE THIS WOMAN!!!
You have to, if u haven’t already, review Amy Whinehouse’s song “What Is It About Men” live at the jazz festival! It’s from her 1st album Frank. She looks like a different person. I think more beautiful then her latter self image. Anyway her singing that 1st album live is EVERYTHING!
yeah she is a beast.... check her fb out... and ig... I loved her for years... and she is a preacher kid... so you know she was the director of her choir and song in the choir.. check her out tho... p.s love you channel
Who knew anyone ripping out their soul & leaving it bleeding on a stage could sound so amazing?
You can tell she's really been hurt. She is so talented in the sense that she is so easily able to translate that pain through her voice, whilst it still sounding so sweet and delicate. UGHHH love love love
How do YOU know she's "really been hurt"?!? Maybe she's just very talented. Not everyone who can sing has had to have undergone some traumatic event in order to be as good as they are.
Joseph Usher I think her mother had killed herself just a couple months prior, actually.

Yebba takes you someplace ancient - it's like she awakens it in you 💚
My goodness, that is a very powerful way to put it!!! An "ancient" place "awakened" inside you. I'm shook
Kona Combado much love to you, Kona! 💚💚💚
Meghan Dvorak
Yea, that's what it is.
It goes so deep inside.
Like 20 thousand years prior...some cellular shit.
DEEP
Yes it’s almost an emotional cleansing
Raw emotion that gets to the core of a person.
I just can't.... I cried!!! Literally cried!!! She should be an actress too. I felt her pain FRFR...
I have the flu and I just spent the entire day of today watching reaction videos to this most riveting live performance of the century💗....best day I ever wasted 👌
She reminds so much of Jazmine Sullivan with that emotion and those crisp runs!!!
Jay Pratt yes!
You are the FIRST PERSON in this song’s reaction (or ANY) to use the word “melisma”. Dude. Respect. 👏🏼🔥
One of the top 10 best performances by anyone ever!
Her and Jazmaine Sullivan need to do a song together!
Mar J I would faint
that would just break the universe. it would be too much.
Her, jazmine, and adele. Because I feel like yebba has characteristics from both of them. Like she has adele a smooth tone but also smoky vocal quality. And she has jazmine power and agility.
Yesss yesss yesss
Perfect concert is Yebba, Jasmine, and Jill Scott. Jill live is amazing!!!

She takes you around the world and back with her amazing voice. That’s coming from REAL pain. She gives me goosebumps every single time mmmhhmm!!
I really like the seriousness with which you do your review. Your approval means something, it is something of value
this woman is really good at portraying emotion
Love this performance, this artist, this reaction and this song. She is very special. I didn’t expect her chest to extend that high in her register in the climax towards the end and all those notes belted freely. The runs...the tone
2 years after and this is still mind blowing 😭😭😭
You can hear her suffer and you suffer with her. That pains you and so does the beauty of her voice.
Absolutely! You described that journey perfectly.

It’s her personal pain. Her northern committed suicide a week prior to this performance
@@Blonde94 I'm a bit late but her mother committed suicide
