Easier method. When the error pops up, if you have a recently installed game, hold the PS button - go to notifications- Press x on the recently installed game to play the other game. When it asks you do you want to close application hit 'cancel'. The screen should be gone. This should be easier than having to put it rest mode.

THANK YOU! Your video has helped me to install this game after a thousand tries. What it worked for me: - on power setting, select that in rest mode applications continue to work in the background - deactivate Internet network from settings - make sure the disc is clean - delete all game data and turn off the PlayStation - turn on and start the disc - let installation run until Blue screen comes on - at this point you can either wait or put in rest mode (as shown in the video) - restart the game again and it should continue downloading - you might have to do it a couple of times. Don't lose hope. It will work!

The games install in the background when you leave the blue error screen on for sometime. 3. For how long it takes for the game to be done installing depends on the game you're installing. That's why you leave it on for about an hour. By then the game should be done installing. 4. No, you can't play the game without the CD and you don't always have to go though the process before playing the game. You only do it once, just to install the game on your PS4. Thank you!

Alright so this didn’t work for me, but I did a bunch of stuff and eventually it did. My Fallout 4 disc is super janky so I looked up a bunch of methods. 1.) The toothpaste method works for most people, but you have to be careful. Basically slather toothpaste on the back of the disc and let it sit, but not for too long. After a minute or so you need to hold it under the sink and wash it. Don’t rub the toothpaste off, just let the water wash it away. Once you’re done you need to dry it off with something super soft and then continue washing it with water for a few minutes. Once it’s all dry, just put it in and it might work. 2.) If that doesn’t work then you need to do something a little more tedious. Delete the game and put the disc in. Skip any updates and wait for the error to pop up. DONT PUSH ANYTHING. Not the home button and definitely don’t push the X button. Let it sit for a long time. Most games will copy in 30-45 minutes and the same goes for these broken ones. So with that in mind (and this sounds stupid) but let it sit for at least 2 hours. Just on the error screen. Once you’ve waited you’re going to put it in rest mode and turn it back on. Go into your game and it should be good if you wait for a while. 3.) But life sucks right? If you’re at this step then I’m sorry. But I hope I can help you. Alright so you need to do the same thing as #2 but with some added steps. Delete the game, remove the disc, and turn the console completely off. Hold the power button down until it beeps a second time. Rebuild your database and wait for it to load. Once you’re back on the home page you need to repeat step #2 and pray. If none of these worked then I’ve got one more thing that kinda worked for me. The game started downloading and was at 21% when I heard the disc stop spinning. Now the Ps4 is gonna try to respin it several times and when it can’t, it’ll show the error. When I heard it stop spinning, I jostled the Ps4 around. Held it at different angles and eventually found one where the disc started spinning again. Every time the disc stopped spinning I would do this and it would start again. If none of this worked then keep trying the methods. I did these maybe 5 or 6 times before it finally worked.
Joshua Goddard Sometimes there’s nothing wrong with the disc at all. If it spins weird then it probably has one bad scratch, or it’s just corrupted. When it spins weird this is because the ps4 is getting stuck on the scratch. If your disc does this then you can try to jostle it so that it skips over the messed up area (almost like an old DVD player when it would skip past the scratched areas). Hope this helps
This worked perfectly. Thanks mate. You can hear the disk keeps spinning fast when the error is on display. Disk spinning stopped after about 15 mins, I waited another 15 minutes and tried the rest mode and back on. It worked perfectly for horizon zero dawn. Thank you so much.

I haven't had any issues like that on the PS5 yet, but just in case now, I just put all of my games on an external hard drive without deleting them to make sure I don't end up in the same situation again.
just to let you guys know, i did this and i just automatically put my ps4 on restmode and opened it back up after a bit and it works so you dont have to keep ur ps4 open
Hey if it still gives the same message turn your PS4 off; hold on button till second beep then let go (it will go into safe mode); connect controller with usb and press ps button; pick nr.3; pick nr.3 again (using internet); and update. Do this until you are updated and have no more updates it takes between 10min - 15min for every update depending on your internet! Then try your game again if it does not work you might need to take PSN in for cleaning and or part replacement like the rollers or lenses.

So basically the blue screen is just a glitch. The disc still works. When you get a used game, the PS4 for some reason doesn’t recognize it until it’s fully installed.

@@benji.7560 Okay. Try this method to and let's see how it goes. 1. Turn off your ps4. 2. Hold the power button for about 7 seconds till you hear two beeps (This will take you to the PS4 hard reset menu) 3. Choose Rebuild database from the list of menu. 4. After that you should insert a pen drive into the USB slot (it could be an empty drive. You don't really need to have something on the drive). 5. Now go through the process in the video again.
Turn off internet, delete any game files for whatever game then install. If dumb message pops up. Click retry. It should continue if not the disk really is damaged, clean it. Pop it back in. Install. Might take a few tries. Gta5 took me about 5 tries till it finally loaded from game then turn on internet and update. Done. What a pain in the ass. I did this on ps5, should be the same on PS4 I'm sure

@20fingers turn your PS4 off. Press the remove disc button on the console and that will put on the game. Keep pressing the remove disc button and the disc should come out

I haven't had any issues like that on the PS5 yet, but just in case now, I just put all of my games on an external hard drive without deleting them to make sure I don't end up in the same situation again.

just to let you guys know, i did this and i just automatically put my ps4 on restmode and opened it back up after a bit and it works so you dont have to keep ur ps4 open

@GAMING YT clean ur disc with windex or sum type of cleaner then wipe it with paper towel then put it in should work
Hey if it still gives the same message turn your PS4 off; hold on button till second beep then let go (it will go into safe mode); connect controller with usb and press ps button; pick nr.3; pick nr.3 again (using internet); and update. Do this until you are updated and have no more updates it takes between 10min - 15min for every update depending on your internet! Then try your game again if it does not work you might need to take PSN in for cleaning and or part replacement like the rollers or lenses.

I hate how I can hear the game and its works fine
So basically the blue screen is just a glitch. The disc still works. When you get a used game, the PS4 for some reason doesn’t recognize it until it’s fully installed.

Yes ive done this never works for long and once this starts prepare for any brand! New! Games to do this bs! Even if your game downloads i have the problem with character creation and blue screen even after its downloaded. The only way i found a solution is get a new ps4 or go to digital download. Been dealing with this bs issue forever.

@@benji.7560 Okay. Try this method to and let's see how it goes.
1. Turn off your ps4.
2. Hold the power button for about 7 seconds till you hear two beeps (This will take you to the PS4 hard reset menu)
3. Choose Rebuild database from the list of menu.
4. After that you should insert a pen drive into the USB slot (it could be an empty drive. You don't really need to have something on the drive).
5. Now go through the process in the video again.
Turn off internet, delete any game files for whatever game then install. If dumb message pops up. Click retry. It should continue if not the disk really is damaged, clean it. Pop it back in. Install. Might take a few tries. Gta5 took me about 5 tries till it finally loaded from game then turn on internet and update. Done. What a pain in the ass. I did this on ps5, should be the same on PS4 I'm sure

@20fingers turn your PS4 off. Press the remove disc button on the console and that will put on the game. Keep pressing the remove disc button and the disc should come out
