ms Westerdam Ship Tour (Holland America Line 2019)

- A ship tour of the ms Westerdam. Westerdam is one of four Vista-class ships with the cruise line. Sister ships in this class are MS Zuiderdam, MS Oosterdam, and MS Noordam.
A couple highlights of this vessel is that retractable roof on the midship pool. This makes it a perfect ship for sailing the Alaska region, or the Caribbean when an afternoon shower rolls through.
There is a fair share of complimentary food venues on the ship, mostly on the Lido deck with the Dive In burgers, Taco Bar, Lido Marketplace, and New York style Pizza.
This ship sails mostly the Caribbean and the Alaska region.

Just got back from a magnificent 11 day Panama Canal cruise on the Zuiderdam. Looks like the Vista class ships are all carbon copies of each other - thought I was back on board our ship watching your video.
Going on the Oosterdam to Alaska in September is the Westerdam very similar since they are sister ships?
Sailed her for 14 nights in Asia in March this year and doing the same cruise (with a few slight changes) again for 14 nights in Feb/Mar 2020. Love the ship and the crew but wasn't super impressed with the food in the MDR.
Been on the Westerdam 3 times from in the last 25 years. Looking forward to another trip on it in 2025. Although I prefer some of the older decor, the ship remains our favorite because it is smaller than the others and perfect for people who must limit walking for medical reasons. Service on all the ships has been excellent, even though the first day of each cruise is doubly hectic for the crew.

May late father used to work here at MS westerdam for years. He worked as a stage manager during his time. Bec of his work, he had provided us better life.. and now that he passed away last April 2022, I just missed the days when he tells me story about how his workplace looks like.

Thank you for the tour. The last few cruises we have taken were on newer ships. No issues. However, on some of the older ships we had sewer smells and propulsion issues. We are now booked on the Westerdam for 51 nights Oct 2022. Sure hope this won’t be an issue
Thanks for the overview! We sailed the Oosterdam in Alaska back in 2015, and are set to sail on the Westerdam this September... can't wait to visit all the Alaskan ports again and finally make it to Denali! This was a good refresher for how the ship is laid out and all the amenities and spaces that are offered with Holland.

It was the perfect size so had no problem booking on the Westerdam

I was actually on westerdam 6 years ago seeing my mother because she was a reggae musician there and I loved it even though I didn't have a smartphone back then but I did had a tablet and took a bunch of pictures.
I remember going on her my was she beautiful and it’s been the only ship I’ve been on I really want to go back on it.
Loved this video! We'll be on the Westerdam in September going to Alaska. So funny to see "Smiley" in the Lido Market! He was on the Zuiderdam November 2019 cruise to the Caribbean. LOVED him! Anyway, getting back to this ship, it looks exactly like the Zuiderdam, and it was very great to see this ship and what all is there, and what I missed!

Yes we do plan some excursions. This time through Holland America. This will be only our 2nd cruise.

We are sailing Westerdam in August 2020 Alaska cruise , we are an Australian couple and this will be our first cruise , my Husband is ex Australian Navy and I am a Midwife here in Australia, we have 3 sons in the Armed Forces in Australia and we are a bit anxious about how we will enjoy cruising, we booked a balcony cabin , thank you for the tour !

Us too Alex! This is my first cruise with Holland. We have a Neptune ste 7060 so going comfortably. Only my second cruise. I did 30 days in the mediterranean in 2013 on Carnival and loved it. For my second I was told by world cruiser friends we have to do Alaska. Close to Hawaii where we live so we said what the heck. Maybe we will run into you on the trip. Aloha Sheree and Rod

I’m planning on sailing on the Westerdam in November. We would like a balcony cabin that doesn’t have lots of noise and away from the smoking areas. What side and deck would you recommend please.

We had issues on another HAL boat with the Lincoln Center Stage being up against the walkway with no wall. People would see the signs but still talking, kids screaming, etc. as they pass. It affected listening to some performances. The space just wasn't well thought out, IMO. Anyone have these issues on the Westerdam?
Yes. Same here. Hopefully they are fixing this. It has been a known issue for a while. The complete opposite of what a Lincoln performance should be. Thanks for watching.
I will be sailing Westerdam to Alaska this May 2020 as a single traveler. Not sure if I wanna go for the main dining area since I feel silly doing that by myself when I know everyone else will be couples, groups, or families. What do you think? Are there also single travelers who go to the main dining area or just head to the Dive In buffet restaurant? Do you require to be dressed for that place?

upgraded since our last voyage on westerdam - have been on several of their ships - koningsdam for 28 days and 10 countries in northern europe in 2017 - whelp we are scheduled japan march 28- april 11 - oh boy! lets hope the disease goes away

@@CruiseRadio well i love holland for its elegant treatment to us - were a fit young seniors lol - i love norwegian , royal caribbean and celebrity - carnival is a party ship but have had some great cruises - been on over 76 in 30 years. best was the 28 day 10 countries. as long as they're clean and the staff is pleasant I'm easy to get along with and travel nothing special as long as the sun shines and the weather is good lol
