IMO adding the dark wax is what really made it so beautiful in the end. The color was nice and your patch work was great but the last shot with the dried wax and knobs really showed how it came together so beautifully! Nice!😊

I do a lot of fiberglass and bondo dear when you have a large area or deep use the glass filler it has fibers in it and is designed for that Does a great job and very durable
Really like the way this turned out. The paint choice was great and I'll definitely use it on a project I have at-home! Good job, and I like how you explained your choices as well as the comment about painting the inside and bottom! I always was put off when I saw a great paint job and moved a drawer or door and I could see overspray or worse.

Yes, at timestamp 14:22, here a little tid bit for future you; The next time you wanna add a straight piece wood on something that has a slight curve, steam the piece of wood or soak it for about 15 mimutes or so then tack it in place until the piece of wood dry's. Then you can come back and remove the tacks and glue the wood down and use small brad nails to hold the wood pieces on, as a more permanent solution.
@@mumzieshideout3555 I do definitely need to try steaming or soaking the wood next time if I do rounded fronts again, I didn't think of that!!👍🏻 I used really tiny brad nails in the Ryobi and wood glue under the length of each piece and extra in the corners for these, what kind of tacks are you thinking would be good?
It looks stunning! Well worth the work. For painting, I prefer foam rollers over brushes, as I can get a very even coat of paint with them. With brushes, I find it hard to avoid streaks and also the cheaper ones that I can buy are usually of a bad quality, they shed hair like crazy, so I stopped using them. 😅
Nice job, and the editing was well done. You might want to try using a clamp to hold your trim pieces in place as a third hand while you nail them. Good luck with your channel.

They are wide and rounded in the head. Kinda like when you put your thumb and first finger together to make an O. Great for getting stubborn nails out easier. The rounded head is a built in fulcrum.
Ohhh! I just was watching a video with somebody using those tools on a really cool restoration, that's on my "to get" list!!👍🏻 I didn't know what they were called though. That's a pretty funny nickname for your oscillator 😄👌🏻 that has been one of my favorite tools as well! I love that it's not as intimidating as bigger saws, and it can get in small places.

@@alexandra_sa_lazer WOW thank you!!💛I appreciate that!!😊 I haven't had to sharpen my miter shears yet, but some types of wood are just too tough for them to cut through. This type of wood was relatively soft, but my last project I was doing hemlock strips and it couldn't cut through those. So that can be part of it, but sometimes they do need new blades. I get these shears with the adjustable toggle on Amazon and you can buy ones that have two extra blades as well for when one gets too dull, so that might be a good option for you. Or there might be blades you can purchase for the ones you already have. These are the exact miter shears I bought on Amazon - amzn.to/3Yyp6KQ

@@AnnieSaad-kg9tp Thank you!! I really appreciate that!!💛😊 that's a good question! I totally forgot about mentioning sandpaper grits! If it's a really stubborn finish on hardwood, then you could start at an 80 but that would be pretty rough on softwood-this finish and this soft pine wood only needed to start out about 120 and then after bleaching and having the grain raised, I hand sanded with 220. That's usually where I like to leave it off with, so that it's still absorbent to the paint wash and not blocking it off by sealing in the grain too much if you have too high of a fine grit. For the sides, I originally thought that it was a fake laminate wood print on the sides peeling, but realize later after sanding and getting rid of some of the damage that it was actually a very, very thin sheet of wood veneer. There was too much damage to it at that point that I needed to just paint it a solid color, so I did one layer of Algonquin (non-diluted) but I felt like it looked a little too gray as a solid color next to the wash on the regular raw wood so I wanted to paint the side something that matched the paint washed wood more closely, so then I used timber dust by Sherwin-Williams just on the sides and the tones matched really well luckily! 😊
I'm going to comment on a small, innocuous part of the video, but I thought it was kinda funny and might help. Around 14 minutes in, you randomly said "why do your knees hurt when you're old," and it reminded me of a couple years ago when I was refurbishing this dump of a kitchen. My knees were KILLING ME. Up and down, I went, constantly, and they were brutal. I finally thought "I know knee pads exist... why am I putting myself through this?" and went and bought knee pads... they were an absolute game changer. I wish I didn't forget I have them so often, because I'd use them more often for all the various, nonsexual reasons I end up on my knees 😆

@@debraneria4242 oh another thing i just remembered! I've seen somebody use a teeny tiny little device and they just rest it on any surface of color and it will record that color and you can bring it in to a paint shop and they'll match it for you! I need one of those.

Thank you!! 😊 Oh yep, it does look like a lot in this video because when I first squeezed it out it was water consistency, so I needed to put an additional regular consistency strip there. I usually do the same amount as I did for the Minwax wood filler segment, I noticed the Minwax two-part gave more drying time than I typically get when I use regular Bondo which was good to know.
Google says only real smart people talk to themselves. I do it all the time, and that is why I did research on it. Lol It says that it helps you make good decisions.
I think you put to much of the blue on your bondo. The more blue you put on the faster it will dry. Most people just put a small amount and that gives them time to use it. Beautiful results on your side dresser. Thank u Linda Beals.

There was too much damage to it at that point that I needed to just paint it a solid color, so I did one layer of Algonquin (non-diluted) but I felt like it looked a little too gray as a solid color next to the wash on the regular raw wood so I wanted to paint the side something that matched the paint washed wood more closely, so then I used timber dust by Sherwin-Williams just on the sides and the tones matched really well luckily! 😊

I'm going to comment on a small, innocuous part of the video, but I thought it was kinda funny and might help.
Around 14 minutes in, you randomly said "why do your knees hurt when you're old," and it reminded me of a couple years ago when I was refurbishing this dump of a kitchen. My knees were KILLING ME. Up and down, I went, constantly, and they were brutal. I finally thought "I know knee pads exist... why am I putting myself through this?" and went and bought knee pads... they were an absolute game changer. I wish I didn't forget I have them so often, because I'd use them more often for all the various, nonsexual reasons I end up on my knees 😆

if another paint brand could do a color match. I know with some big paint companies you can tell them a different brand and color, and they can do that color for you. I wonder if it would be possible with a boutique paint like this 🤔
@@debraneria4242 oh another thing i just remembered! I've seen somebody use a teeny tiny little device and they just rest it on any surface of color and it will record that color and you can bring it in to a paint shop and they'll match it for you! I need one of those.

Ohh, I just tried out googling "paint colors similar to Fusion Mineral Paint Algonquin", and there were several really good colors in other brands!

Thank you!! 😊 Oh yep, it does look like a lot in this video because when I first squeezed it out it was water consistency, so I needed to put an additional regular consistency strip there. I usually do the same amount as I did for the Minwax wood filler segment, I noticed the Minwax two-part gave more drying time than I typically get when I use regular Bondo which was good to know.
Google says only real smart people talk to themselves. I do it all the time, and that is why I did research on it. Lol
It says that it helps you make good decisions.

I think you put to much of the blue on your bondo. The more blue you put on the faster it will dry. Most people just put a small amount and that gives them time to use it. Beautiful results on your side dresser. Thank u Linda Beals.
