Cant compare preclearing a raid to clearing trash mid raid via gate skip in nax which adds difficulty to the encounter imo
STV event & wild offering runs(currently doing), both are really in a bad state at the moment.
This seems extremely petty and works as a monologue where no one calls out obvious problems.
Unfortunately, borderline sketch/exploitive strategies have always, and will always, be a major component of the fastest times. Even as far back as pulling mobs through the Razorgore Gate in BWL, checking for Bronze Spinners in BWL, fishing in AQ40 trash, Hunter Naxx gate skips, etc. As stated, if something like this exists, it will be used for top speedruns.
With that said, its also impossible for developers to fully plan or account for some of these things; even when tested thoroughly, stuff slips by - and WoW is far from thoroughly tested. Placing the entire point on "developers should just not allow it" is ignoring the reality of the issue.
It *needs* to be up to the community to help determine what is, and what is not, fair game. Using the examples before; in BWL, pulling trash past the Razorgore gate was considered unfair, but fishing for non-bronze drakkonids was not considered unfair. It is a major issue for players who have to invest a significant amount of time to plan, practice, and execute a strategy, only to be told after-the-fact that it is now deemed unfair and won't count; these requirements need to be more clearly defined and explored by the community (not just WCL) and there needs to be a more established methodology to determine prior to that investment if a strategy will be allowed; while also keeping that strategy private until it is utilized if that is desired. Again, to use the previous example - The reason why pulling the gate trash was considered "cheating" was because the method was found and made public; while the reason drakkonid fishing was not "cheating" was because it was never something that was truly made public (though most top guilds did know and use the method once it was used once). Video evidence is the start of a solution, but is not **the** solution - a proper solution should necessitate a set of expectations that are not vague, amoebous, or otherwise up for interpretation; and include a fair-play method to question if something that is not stated within those rules is allowed.
