I did this day 1 with this rune: Created a darn port in IF, quick blink and take the portal, and when I displaced (to what should have been IF), I ended up in the air in Thousand Needles. You've figured it out - the coordinates thing is bonkers. Really look forward to messing with this. Nice!
Blizzard found something players like, so instead of nanny spanking it out the window why don't they create an improved version of it that takes mages too dungeon entrances, and why not continue to add more pets for hunters , and why not do other cool things that other classes would like too, like warlocks summoning an entire raid instead of just one person at a time. Or paladins calling on angels to wisp them away while using bubble like a bubblehearth. Or shamans that can spirit walk for long periods of time.
I left this out of the video because I didn't want people to start exploiting it. Most of the time you will end up stuck under the map... but if you find the right spot in the world to blink before entering... 😬 One cool thing to try is que for WSG in IF/SW and once in and the game starts blink, leave game, displacment. You end up Tirisfal Glades where the giant flat land is to the left of the Undead starting area.
Thanks for the heads up! I kept seeing people say that worldwarper takes you there... but yet to see a video of it. Only places that have the debuff...which are not gm island.
This is super cool and has already been messed with a bunch in the Exploration discord, hopefully it becoming more known doesn't get it fixed. I love it. It has no real harmful implications, and for what it's worth you can reach GM Island on the era client - been done by ER a couple times in the last year or so, but it's definitely very difficult. I'm not sure displacement would help, but still!
I used Blink before joining Arathi Basin, then Displacement in AB. Was stuck in "nomansland" just surrounded by water and stuck in the air inside AB. Had to /afk to get out. Dont worry! Did all of that before the game started so I didnt grief.
The only issue I can currently see with this is that Eastern Kingdoms is significantly more south than Kalimdor. The most northern parts of EK only take you to Dakrshore/Felwood/Hyjal/Winterspring. If you go from Darnassus -> EK you end up floating outside of the map and stuck with no way to move and then cast a portal again.
It will put you at the x, y, z in there. So you can test it out in SW by blinking and then going inside Stockades and displacing. In the case of that you end up under the Stockades and fall to your death. Getting a lock to summon you while you are standing at a higher Z would be advantageous.

I would love to see someone try get into the instance door above Karazhan. I saw a clip of it as it was one of the locations that the gnomergan teleport trinket would take you. Only got to see it for a second as it gave you a cheeky debuff and teleported you away.
This glitch won't help with that specifically because it's too far south and will teleport you into the water. But i'll try to see what I can figure out. I'd also love to get up here :D
The closest I got was from mountains above the blood elf area. I went to Hyjal and swam to the bottom of the water under the tree and teleported out and it dropped me for like 30 seconds into the water north of EPL. I don't think it's possible to reach there since going under the map would teleport you to a GY or instance. :(
As in if someone used it for an unfair advantage or to get some loot without playing. Simply teleporting around and exploring is neither. Nonetheless it was patched the day after this video was posted.

Que for a BG. When the que pops blink, then take the que, then displace.

Yeah, they could easily fix it by making displacement (the buff) not persist through loading. It's really fkn fun to play with though!

i think they might have just hotfixed this sometime in the last hour or two...it won't let me displace after going through a portal now

GM Island is no longer in the game files, so you even if you pass the death barrier you won't find the island

Try doing the opposite, especially out of WSG. Blink inside, afk, displacement. Some cool stuff!

Can you avoid the wall by getting to the GM island by placing yourself on eastern kingdoms and then let this bug port you to kalimdor?

What happens if you go from instance to instance? Say you are in zf, take a lock summon to outside brd, enter and then displace.
It will put you at the x, y, z in there. So you can test it out in SW by blinking and then going inside Stockades and displacing. In the case of that you end up under the Stockades and fall to your death. Getting a lock to summon you while you are standing at a higher Z would be advantageous.

This should not be fixed, it's a REALLY cool feature for being a mage. This fits in to their class fantasy so well imo.
