    Thank you so much. It's so hard to find good, old fashioned methods for tailoring with horse hair.

    Thank you for this video! I love that you’re showing techniques that you have adapted for theater. I have an old tail coat alteration to work on that needs the guts totally rebuilt so it can last another 15 years in my theater. You’ve given me some great tips and I’m excited to get going on replacing the canvas.

    Can I use heavyweight linen fabric instead of hymo of horsehair canvas for interfacing?

    I'm going to be crafting a Regency period waistcoat for an upcoming Pride & Prejudice Ball. Would you recommend using canvas, or should I just use interfacing?

    can canvas be machine stitched, how much of a difference does it make doing it by hand?

    • @lauriekurutz3639
      @lauriekurutz3639  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, people do this by machine. The difference will depend on the fabric and your skill.

    Where can you buy the pre-cut canvas?

    • @HondoTrailside
      @HondoTrailside 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I got mine at Sultans fabrics in Toronto.
      B.Black and Sons in LA has it. They are on the web.
      UK has to the non-trade suppliers also, depends where you live
      You can also buy the raw canvas as well.
      Then there are interfacing methods that are what you find in most stuff people are wearing, not as nice though.
      In the 19th C the earlier tailors didn't pad garments at all, which is still an option in some garments. Though not with today's paper thin fabrics.

    • @HondoTrailside
      @HondoTrailside 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sultans is a good example, they had all the stuff, but it wasn't on their extensive website, so anywhere they sells suiting might have the other stuff also.

      Cassie Butler I wouldn't recommend a pre cut because it tends to be a bit more expensive. it is not difficult to make one for your coat.
