Good to see both teams were upset and standing up for an official. We might all hate officials in our games but any sports player would never wish to physically hurt one
I used to work as a ref for youth hockey leagues. Even at those lower levels, the players would stand up for me when a fan went too far. Almost all athletes understand that it sucks to be a ref, but the game could not exist without them.

It wasn't a riotous situation and there was no greater threat to anyone's safety. Abandoning the game was a massive overreaction. Even if the linesman was too shaken to play (understandable) the Fourth Official can run the line.
So disappointed there was no cutaway to Homer throwing a can of Duff's at the ref in Springfield's first and only international soccer match.

The club(VFL Bochum) made a video about not throwing beer at the pitch. ON THE SAME WEEK. In the clip they the captain of the team told "the fans" that beer is for drinking.

We had a similar situation in the Seville derby in the spanish league, everyone was very heated up and an ultra ended up throwing a flag stick to a rival player and hit him in the head, they also called the game after that, it would be cool if you could do a breakdown about it.

I'm big fan of this sport, I keep up to date with the top 5 leagues in Europe (England, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain). Fan abuse is such a huge problem. Messi of all people, beloved by almost everyone, certified as a GOAT, batteries were being thrown at him while trying to take a corner kick. Good on you Jomboy and your team for identifying that guy.

I dunno about anyone else, but I think if you throw something like a beer bottle at anybody on the field or court, regardless of them being a player or ref, you should be banned from attending live sports events for life.
