I take my Go+Play 2 everywhere: to the park, the beach, on vacation. If I were to buy this speaker anytime soon, I would use it like a portable speaker is intended, just with a bit more caution because of the downward firing speaker (and because it’s more expensive ofc 😌)
I can't seem to find a single review showing the power cable as I have previous speakers with their bulky power bricks/wire. Does this just use a single power cable wire?
If I remember correctly It was just a single cable yes
@@HammoTechReviews Excellent thank you. I found a different language unboxing that showed the single power cable but found it weird everyone was hiding it haha. It's on a current sale now for $130 and something I want to check out. Ty for the review.
FYI - it's around 90 watts on battery, but 160 watts when plugged in.
It's not really a portable/outdoor speaker, more a patio/deck/garage speaker.
I've had mine about 3 weeks. I'm used to 2 x Dali katch g2's in tws and this easily fills the same space (7m x 5m). That downfiring woofer is an absolute pleasure. It presents bass as sound rather than vibration and resonance. The sound stage is very good (it sits in one corner) and tweeters are not drowned out. Not for the beach but mine just travels the house with me like a comfort blanket. For under £300 its a no-brainer unless you need durability and all that IP stuff. Great review.
Just a follow-up which may be helpful. (Note: if you have one and tap the phone and + buttons simultaneously, the light changes to indicate a different sound profile. There are 3 and 4th press goes back to first one. I say this as it's not in instructions and my preferred one is not the default). Some 2 months in and daily use. I love this speaker. Now the HK has "opened up", it's more balanced. £300 at worst and it feels next gen, the tweeters are so clean. Also, man, 30hz is low! As a benchmark, take the song "The Bizness" by De La Soul. On every 16th beat, there's a bass-kick I've not heard before on any portable speaker or headphones I've owned. That is true sub-woofer territory nowadays. This baby scoops that sucker up and hands it to me on a silver platter. Dive in, the water's lovely.
Great speaker, great value, great video
I just ordered one and it should get here tomorrow. Excited to take this with us when we travel and stay in an Airbnb. There’s something really nice that elevates your stay when you have your music with you. We also do like to move our music from room to room and we’re fairly active these days so we’ll take it with us to the beach.
Hy sir ,how îs the bass, and the batery life?
@@andreigb4476 so far we’ve only used it with the battery plugged in, but the base is absolutely incredible. We have it sitting on a table and with the subwoofer on the bottom, it definitely is going to impress you. This was a great purchase.
Sounds very good, rich sound, did you compared with the bose s1 pro? I mean just a bluetooth speaker, has the Bose the same rich sound? Thanks!
It does sound very impressive. It does give off S1 Pro vibes, although the S1 Pro is much louder with less bass. I might see if I can get a comparison going in the future 😁👍
@@HammoTechReviews Thanks for the reply. Happy new year 🎉🎉
i think its better to compare that speaker to bose portable home speaker.
Can you tell me if the Harman Kardon go + play 3 has latency in its AUX IN, if you connect a musical instrument there, is it possible to play the instrument connected there AUX IN, without latency? I've already tried it on the JBL Boombox 3 and it doesn't work, the JBL's AUX IN has a lot of latency and it's impossible to use it to play an instrument.
Hey there! Great reviews!👍 I'm looking for a speaker that can produce smooth, clear, and natural voices, either while listening to songs or podcasts.
Could you please advise on that? Is Go + Play 3 good for that or maybe there is a better alternative around $500-600? I don't need a battery and it shouldn't be loud, just for a small room.
Thanks in advance!
I think the only other speakers you should consider are the Sonos Era 100/300.
For the absolute clearest voices, for sounds and podcasts. I think the Sonos Era range has to take the crown, but not by much. You definitely won't be disappointed with the Go + Play 3, and when you come to play music, it has stronger bass.
I would personally still take the Go + Play 3, as It's a better all round speaker in my opinion, but it depends what the ratio of podcast to music listening you're doing I guess. Something to consider for sure.
@@HammoTechReviews Got it, thanks a lot! 👍
Citation 500 is on sale in the USA for $230. Given it’s now in the same price category as the go play 3, which would you go for if portability isn’t a need?
Citation 500 personally. Sounds better and has deeper bass
@@HammoTechReviews YT limitations aside, I'm partial to the Citation 500, given the current sale price. However, given the weight with shipping from Miami to where I am in the Carribean, it'll be an extra $50. That being said, there are intermittent although usually short-lived power outages - that's why I choose a portable (battery) bluetooth speaker. I've even looked at the Denon-250 and 350, but paying that much for something that I'd have to have plugged in at all times could be problematic, especially during rainny season. I removed the Citation 500 from "shopping cart" a couple of days ago, still undecided.
You should take it into your garden or different rooms, but I get your point. Looks nice. I have the older one.
The older one lacks deep bass, but the sound quality is just as good.
can you charge it and at the same watching youtube in pc? thanks
Yea that’ll work fine
@@HammoTechReviews Thanks and more power. Have a good day mate!
Versus the Citation the Go + Play 3 is only Bluetooth and no wifi and the Citation can stream through wifi via Chromecast or Airplay which will give better sound quality.
Wifi isn’t portable and when I go hiking I don’t wanna a wifi speaker, just more stuff to go wrong. Simplicity is more reliable.
@@bass4life294 The Go + Play 3 speaker is not built for outdoor use though. It wouldn't be good to take hiking. The subwoofer is bare and exposed at the bottom and can be easily damaged. Dust and dirt can also embed into the black mesh exterior making it very difficult if not impossible to clean. This speaker's best use is in a home environment where it allows you to easily move it room to room or perhaps take it outside to a patio. If you baby it you could take it to a park or something but over time that is going to get the mesh exterior infused with dust and dirt from being outside.
So is it a Citation 500 killer? Does it sound better? Is bass stronger and louder than the Citation 500?
As I stated in the video. If you want a semi portable version (especially as it’s £200 less) it sure is yes 👌😁
Wich is the best speaker jbl authentics 200 or the go play 3 please.
The HK has the added benefit of being portable. But other than that, the bass on the two are very similar, so is the sound quality. The volume will be louder on the HK though.
Overall I think the go play 3 takes the win. Depends on price though
@@HammoTechReviews thank you so much for the advice, I want a speaker I can have plugged in all the time, I just don't know what to go for, I like the jbl 500, but I don't know if I can justify the price.
I think its meant to be read: Go and play 3.
That makes more sense now you mention it 😂
I agree it's not practical to use outdoors as the bottom speaker means you need to be careful where you sit it. Also it looks too much like a handbag for a man to carry round ! 😅
Can you talk on the phone with this speaker
I assume so yea, it has microphones for the Google assistant so
How is it compared to the aura studio 3 in terms of bass?
It’s quite similar in terms of bass. But the sound quality is much better so overall a better option for sure
@@HammoTechReviews that good to know, I was thinking about buying the Aura Studio 4 but not that much anymore, I got the Go plus play 3 and even drop a video on it, but I agree with you on this speaker sounding really good lol
