I found an old email from 2009. I would've been 17. I'm 29 now and in that email this song was in it. Listening to this decades later. Just is so peaceful and precious. My young soul knew what good music was haha
people say they like the acoustic solo version more, but I actually prefer this one. the bird noises, the piano, the flute, and the drums all combine beautifully
I just read that when he was done with Continuum he was told it had NO hits on it. He said he cried & thought about quitting music.are you kidding??? Crazy!!!
Seeing this life would have blown my mind... One of my favorite JM songs. So different to his other stuff, it's almost experimental, with the other elements the band is bringing in.
This is not a cover. I think you are confusing the title with another song called 'Hummingbird' - written by Don Robertson and made famous by many other artists, including Leon Russell who John has played live with. This song is, 100% John Mayer's. The only album/CD this appears on is As/Is - Philadelphia, PA/Hartford, CT. 2004. Song is pretty old. I also wished he recorded it on an album, but it never happened. There are many recordings on TH-cam and sites to download live recordings.
@@bonvctno this was 2004. It even says in the description. If you compare his 2004 voice to anything past 2007 you’ll be able to tell the difference between before his vocal problems and after.
I like this, but I prefer the acoustic version where its just Johns voice and his guitar rather than the added drums, piano, and bird noises. Then again I understand that the bird noises are pretty much the representation of the song title.
Did he put this on a record? I thought maybe as/is, but that's not right. And I don't think it's going to be on born and raised in may either. Anybody know if you can get this song anywhere???
no existe es una canción puramente en vivo, hay canciones que se escribieron pero nunca fueron grabadas jhon tiene muchas y bueno algunas las solto en conciertos

I have emails like that from way back when. Tons of old awesome songs packed in there.
@@pattygq how amazing! I never met someone who has done this too!!!

I prefer this version. I've been looking for it everywhere this is the only place that has it.
cada quien tiene sus gustos supongo, ambas suenan bien ambos las escucho es john mayer siendo john mayer y una cancion de john mayer no veo diferencia
Imagine if instead of Continuum, Jack Rabbit Surprise happened... that's a scary thought.

@@jennapierpont7813 Today, all of Continuum is a hit!
He’d definitely been listening to Radiohead a lot while writing this .. great stuff
You’re right. I believe there’s an audio of him doing a Radiohead cover
@@ilovejesus1014 yup. He did Kid A
This song reminds me of Weird Fishes/Arpeggi

God. So. Glad. I. Found. This. Version. Of. This. Song
Very. Peaceful. And. Relaxing. To. Me
His best version of this song! Luv it
Hummingbirds are sacred animals who are our ancestors bringing us messages from heaven
I think it's where he got the idea for As/Is from. Because the all the covers have jack rabbits.
What a sick ass drum beat!
I've been looking for this version for years, thank you!
It’s so cool that the art from as/is probably comes from the scrapped Jack Rabbit Surprise album.
Phenomenal when John digs in his never ending fault of precious deep cuts
this songs an experience
Love this song. 🥰
I looooove this ❤️
👍..2021

Oh, and "Try!", the trio album
it almost sounds as if John Mayer was asked to do a weird fishes/arpeggi esque song to me. even thinking about it got me excited lmao
i love this song
waauw, beautiful song
Hmm Jack Rabbit never made its way to the stores :/
I think this is actually with a drum machine and not a full band? Either way it still sounds great. Thanks for sharing!
no es una caja de ritmo es su banda en otros conciertos i uso pura caja
Daddy mayer
♥️♥️♥️
I believe he has an older live record out too, if you're counting live shows
how come da album never released?? First time mayer has ever disappointing me :/ ......gaaahhhh i still love him!!!
Cause its Continuum

Petition for John to release Jack Rabbit Surprise in 2025. Comment below to sign.
Min 4:32 You look like the boy under the other table in this one scary movie, I had seen when I was a child.
No. He only has 5 full albums, bar Where the Light Is - Room for Squares, Heavier Things, Continuum, Battle Studies and Born and Raised.
Álvaro Poueff 6 now
Paradise Valley and The Search for Everything
And now Sob Rock. Its excellent for what it is, but I'm hoping for some more upbeat, experimental stuff next!
You forgot Any Given Thursday
Actually you forgot "Any given thursday", "Inside wants out" and "As/Is".
he also has inside wants out, so make that 6 :)
Aren't those just live albums of songs he already released on the other ones? Either way, I stand corrected
