I had the first two GTR games when I was a kid! I was way too young to understand what I was doing, and played with the keyboard, but the game is still so nostalgic for me!

You can actually use the "XD" hud for all of the ISI engine games, like GTR2. It will give you more information about the standings, the engine wear, tire wear and much more. Can help you make faster pit stops as well, as you can change the tire pressure, amount of liters and repair or not the damage of the car.
My new favorite series. I started trying to collect cars to form a 1970s grid so I can rip around in the Porsche 917 in Asseto Corsa. As impressive as your driving is, I'm more impressed you're able to talk and be interesting through the whole (I'm at the 2 hour mark). I started with Daytona but going to start from the beginning and come back to it.
Refreshing stuff to see, getting into watching this kind of stuff. Too much focus on speed and modern supercars. that somehow 1000hp cars have become boring now :| Nice stuff.

Hi Michel, its a mix between the Power and Glory mod as well as the WSCC mod over at Evolution modding. I also converted a couple of cars like the Porsche 904 from GT legends
Love the event and your dedication in making this race happen and getting it done, great job! However, I would get frustrated when you'd forget your braking point into turn one even after 4 hours of racing ;) And you're too nice allowing the others cars to over take you in the corners... Anyone know why the infield was reconfigured? Looked around online for answers a couple of times through the years, but never discovered the reasons. The old section that got lopped off is still present but abandoned in 1995 aerial imagery years after the reconfiguration (Built over these days with I believe RV parking sites), so I assume expansion of something like the garage wasn't behind it.
It might have been for safety reasons. You dont necessarily want to push the barrier further away because then the fans cant really see. So reducing the length of that straight reduces the speed. Just a theory though!

It's funny how contemporary cars influence our historical perspective. These cars were not Ford GTs. You're accidentally confusing the 21st century Ford GT _name_ with the 20th Century Ford GT40 _car_

The loud red "Ferrari" #43 is actually an Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2, with a (very noisy) 1.6L straight-4 engine. The plate (UD10...) is from my city, Udine, because until 1966 racing Alfas were builded by Auto Delta (why the Alfa Romeo race department was based in a small town 400km from Milan is a nice story to tell...)

I don't know how much weather detail GP 2 has, but your tire problem in the predawn stint might have been dew forming on the track. If the game doesn't have that detail, we can call it the story anyway, right?
I don't know if the author said that 'cause I skipped a part of the intro. GTR2 has an issue: after one hour of race the AI slows down a lot. When I made endurance races I found out that saving and exiting the game solve the problem.
I agree with Johnnas - the most unique, special and watchable simracing content on TH-cam! I've been simracing since the beginning and I find this the most impressive video action yet.

He usually prefers no hud on though to keep it more immersive and authentic to the time period.

Back in 66 there was ONLY the GT40 so everyone shortened it to just GT. The difference only became relevant when Ford made the new one.
