This has to be probably the most beautiful sample ive heard, up there with JPEG on DIKEMBE!, J Dilla on Runnin by The Pharacyde and Aris Tatalovich on A Cold Sunday by Lil Yachty and many more
There's something so eerie about this version. Without the drums to provide some form of progression there's just the somber chord progression with a muted out symbol and hi-hat that just drones on for 2 minutes. It feels even more contemplative than the actual song. You did a great job with this. tldr: it sounds even more depressing than the actual song and I love it
i love hip hop man. not only do we have the original Grant Green song here comes hip hop and takes the best dang part of what is an amazing full song, and we get Kendricks version, and an Instrumental with a BIll Withers drum break chopped by LIke, and a chopped version without drums to enjoy the haunting introspective melancholy melody.
What would make this song even deeper and realer, is if the drums cut out after the gunshots… “And if I die before your album drop, I hope-“ 💥💥💥🔫 Then the drums stop for the rest of “Sing About Me”
Just as the comment below states, it’s to represent that it’s not cared about. I think they should’ve taken the drums out for a brief moment then brought them back in to show how people will still keep going after the death
I woke up this morning and figured I’ll call you in case im not here tomorrow im hoping that i could borrow a piece of mind im behind on what’s really important my mind it is really distorted i find nothing but trouble in my life. Unfortunately you believe in a dream.
@@DylenOfficial I'll listen to it bro let me know where I can tune in. I rap a little myself but ain't on the commercial level so I appreciate guys with the talent that believe in they music.. If you really dope we'll all know it one day.

Guess I’m not the only one who loved the melody. But the drums did fit perfectly
The instrumental is from Maybe Tomorrow by Grant Green if you were wondering at all. Extremely beautiful

The drums continuing is also pretty messed up as it shows his death really doesn’t mean much. The band keeps playing, the music doesn’t stop for him

This orphanage we call a ghetto is quite a routine
And last night was just another distraction or a reaction
Of what we consider madness, I know exactly what happened
You ran outside when you heard my brother cry for help
Held him like a newborn baby and made him feel
Like everything was alright
and a fight he tried to put up
But the type of bullet that stuck had went against his will, as blood spilled on your hands, my plans rather vindictive
miles de gracias
Like 700, congratulations TrE…
Thanks man

it sounds so awkward without the drums man.
It was a chopped sample, that's why
NOT TO ME. IT'S BEAUTIFULLY FLIPPED.
Naw this needs drums
