People hate and say sampling is cheating it takes a great deal of intelligence to take something flip it into your own and it sounds nothing like the original the essence may be there but to make it your own is the magic of sampling. Sing about me is by far one of my favorite tracks from kendrick and to see how it was made was amazing
For real most great lyricist’s can’t deliver it that well I only learned english from school but the overall energy/vibr from this song translated perfectly to the lyrics that I now understand. Thats art man. Song goes deep and hits something and now that I understand it it hits even harder
The recreated sample actually makes me want to cry due to how beautifully made the original is... Especially the chopped and put back together guitar...
Sampling is definately a form of art. The fact that a producer can pick up by ear the intricacies of music notes and recreate something unique as this. Am just blown away.
That Grant Green sample flip is probably one of my favourite of all time cuz Like made a completely new chord progression from a jazz song that goes through many key switches, chord switches etc.. It takes a great deal of talent to be able to make something as cohesive as this. I don’t know what the world would be like withouth sampling.
This song taught me so much. I was raised between trailer parks and ghettos and though I never hated the people who always targeted me for being an outsider, I didnt know how to love them either. This song helped me understand. The sadness both comes from the criticism given by people you're trying to help and the criticism of yourself. It's a heavy tragedy. So beautifully captured using such a simple and effective combination. The persistent beat with the somber jazz sample. Gah man, just beautiful. Top 5 songs of ALL time. And I listen to a lot of music.
This is what I love about sampling, it’s subtle and creates something new rather than it being blatantly obvious. An amazing sample ADDS to the atmosphere to the song rather than it being the main takeaway, it’s a spice that should be used sparingly. Kendrick used it beautifully.
The other day I was int eh car and my dad was playin Use Me and I noticed it had the same drum pattern as SAMIDT of thirst excpept SAMIDT didn't have no open hi hats when they showed the drums I yelled "I KEW IT!!!" and my mom freaked out and was like "What What What!" lol
Logic also sampled the Bill Withers drums on Metropolis. Completely different vibe from SAMIDOT. Sampling really is an art. It’s totally up to the producer to take something and make it their own.
sampling is in no way cheating. you can just as easily take a sample and turn it into trash; it just took way more time. seeing it broken it down like this added so much more elegance and finesse than i even knew
I was listening to Use me up, and realized the drums sounded very like sing about me, so I found this video and jumped out of my seat when I realized I was right!
I hope 1 day your perspective changes bro👌I love music production more than anything, and this just inspired me to do more.... Even tho the people around me don't really care for my music (I admit sucks, alot) I still do it anyways🎧
Omg this is so dope, wow. I could not for the life of me identify which part of the sample was used at for the chord at 1:07 . Perfect presentation. THANK YOU
check out "The Chemodan - Круги под глазами" (circles under the eyes - in english), damn it was in 2011 i was surfing through various music, then i hear original by Grant Green and was like "huh, i know TWO songs that used that sample, wow"
Sampling like this is the most difficult sht ever, how tf people that dont have any idea of music says this its cheating when u need to be an extremely experienced producer...

I genuinely believe this is one of the greatest songs ever created, from the lyrical content to the beat, just an overall masterpiece in every way.

Why is this channel not as big as it should be wtf
that’s crazy how these artists are able to chop up tiny pieces of a song and turn it into their own, it’s amazing
These are some genius chops. The people that hate on sampling need to check this channel out.
Damn it's so crazy how many things that were pulled out of the sample and rearranged to make something completely unique.
Best storytelling song ever
