From what I've read, "because Fuck You" justifies most of what the post heresy Iron Warriors do.
He did, and that's what makes the Iron Warriors fun. They're just spiteful bastards. They're nihilistic, prideful and they're just cool as a result
I don't really think the Iron Warriors as a whole really serve chaos, I think they more just attempt to wield it's influence as a tool to fight the long war against the imperium.

Even if he is a Daemon Prince, I doubt he would have undergone many changes other than size, unlike Angron or Mortarion
As a daemon prince it doesn't matter what Perturabo wants. Daemon princes are simply pieces of the chaos gods, and can be shaped and changed at the whim of the gods.

I'm one of the guys that think he isn't a Daemon Prince. Granted, if shown hard evidence, I would be convinced otherwise, but I believe it might be a facade of some sort. Cause the few times we do see him, he is described like he's essentially dying, and is more machine than man.
Well, they just introduced a chaos god of machines, so Perturabo being a daemon prince of machines fits if he obeys Vashtorr.

This is my theory too. I think for 2 reasons one because Perty thinks because Vashtorr isn’t a god yet he isn’t going to lose control but then if Vashtorr does become a god that will be a plot point. 2 that’s part of the reason why Perty looks like a corpse and some think he’s still dying from what fulgrim did to him. Vashtorr doesn’t have enough juice to restore him and maybe we get the plot point that he’s entered in to a devils bargain with Vashtorr to help Vash to become a god with the promise he will fully restore him.

Better yet: He's using a daemon engine as a giant suit of dreadnaught armor (after being stabbed by Fulgrim), and he beat the daemon inside of it into submission with his sheer willpower.
Also him working with Vashtorr would be pretty awesome.
That's what my personal head cannon is as well. After the iron cage Perty uses the stolen gene seed to summon a powerful demon/ demons and seals them inside a special suit of armor that keeps him alive and gives him the power of a demon prince.
For those wondering why they made Perturabo a DP in the first place, it becauses it predates the Perturabo we know.
In the original "Realm of Chaos" source books, the 9 Traitor Legions were not all yet defined and the Iron Warriors were simply a CSM Warband lead by a Daemon Prince called Perturabo.
When 2nd Edition gave a Codex to Chaos, the Iron Warriors became a Traitor Legion and Perturabo became a Daemon Primarch. This bit of lore has persisted over the years and Perturabo's developement through the Horus Heresy novels.
Pertuabo just lead a warband at first? Still not as big an upgrade as Horus got I guess
@@battlez9577 There were no Primarchs in the original Realm of Chaos sourcebooks. The Black Legion and Monogods Legions (so TS, WE, DG and EC) existed as example of each God's corruption.

1 he was not a sane individual in fact by the beginning of the siege of terra his mental sanity was deteriorating and same for many of his legion

3 like the video says he never really rejected the powers of chaos. He just believed that only HE could wield those powers without getting consumed by them. Dude was mentally unstable,narcisistic and incredibly naive.
Tbf, mortarion was FORCED to become a demon prince. He became one out of desperation because otherwise, he would have died.

Hypocrisy reminds me of mortarion and horus yapping about being the master of the gods. Perty is just as much of a puppet and prisoner as fulgrim is its just that the gods haven't come to a situation where they need to yank the chains.
Perturabo being a pathetic hypocrite who looks down on daemon princes while being a puppet of the 4 gods is fully within his character. I can't understand how people could possibly be confused on this front.

It's a good story arc, which sets him up for another arc. Flawed, but realistic character.

How about do that with Perturabo but with a twist, A Primarch inside a Demon Engine, like a Dreadnought

That's exactly how the Chaos Gods tricks you into becoming one. As much as I like Perturabo as a character, he ain't in control or above Chaos.
I like the idea of him getting hit with the Obliterator Virus and coming out on top of it.
He's already a walking tank as is.
Honestly, he and his chapter would have been one of the best candidates to represent Malice and Malal

A friend told me "I think the worst part of the Perturabo thing was the hypocrisy." And I disagree. I thought it was the heresy. It's my feeling most heretics are hypocrites. You don't meet many that go "I like heresy and I know it's not politically correct but, by god" and people go "well, he's not being a hypocrite and that's the worst part!"
I think he should be a Daemon Primarch solely because he looks ridiculously fucking cool
Simply retcon to him making lots of deals for power and life etc but never fully committed. Things were a lot better before they said no more undivided daemon princes

Him being an undivided daemon prince with the help of Vashtorr through contract to fix the soul hole would be interesting
Perturabo isn’t REALLY a daemon prince of chaos undivided. Perturabo is a daemon prince of Perturabo.
I feel like - he’s got a soul leak that’s slowly killing him and that becoming a Daemon Primarch is one of 3 ways of dealing with that situation. The other two involves either AI which is unlikely or Bio Transference like the Necrons (thus removing the need for a Soul)- which might work.
Thing is given how backward the imperium is - they might call him a Daemon regardless.
Perhaps he’s just an Independent Daemon, there are some in the Warp. Not all are bound to the Chaos Gods

I like to believe that he his the only one who can withstand chaos energy and actually being in control while the others traitor primarchs succumb to it. But obviously, it's 40k, he THINKS he's in control, just another puppet of the chaos gods like all the others. Another great character development down the drain. It's getting old.
I don't see him willingly becoming ANYONE's slave or servant ever again! Doesn't line up with his Arrogant Personality. Personally I'd LOVE to see him become a Machine-Demigod! I can see him finding a way to merge Necron-Biotransferance with the techniques The Aeldari use to create Wraith-Constructs in order to permanently place his Soul into Superior Living-Machine Body of his OWN Design! Life as an Uber-Psuedo Necron seems to fit his Orderly and Meticulous Nature better than a Servant of Chaos!

He should not be a demon prince unless he has found a way to have 100% control over it, that's the only way he'd go for something like that. Otherwise it would be very out of character, and disappointing to see.

I'd like the tragedy of him becoming some sort of daemon prince dreadnought or similar. He hates chaos, but is bound to it to keep him alive, whether he likes it or not. Like a Darth Vader-esque life support system.
Perturabo's transformation was more forced? This is because he is slowly dying from what Fulgrim has done in Angel Exterminatus novel.
As much as I will always say that Peter Turbo getting the Daemon Prince DLC is dumb, ive accepted that it's kind of the point.
Hes an arrogant man-child who (i think for good reason) hates his father and wishes to spite the golden son Dorn. He also hates his moronic daemon primarch brothers for being stupid and slaves to chaos. He would ABSO-FRIGGIN-LUTELY jump at the chance to show all of them up by "using Chaos and not allowing it to use me" because... it'll totally work this time, I'm sure. He's totally built different guys, trust me

He should be a champion of Chaos undivided, but not a demon. Hell, of everyone on the battlefield, Perturabo should just be A Normal Primarch.
I think, if Warhammer was better thought out, it's Perturabo who should've unified the traitors in the Eye of Terror. Think about it:
1) The only (aside from Lorgar) Demon-Primarch, who has a fully unified and structured legion.
2) Has the resources to produce both equipment and troops.
3) The only Primarch not under any control from the Four.
4) Has, allegedly, been active since 30k (unlike Lorgar, who retreated into his tower to ponder for 10k years).
So, in my opinion, he should've been the one to unify the traitors and start the Crusades, instead of Abbadon. And knowing Pert's character, he would've kept his empire building ambitions, so it would have been logical for him to amass troops and, eventually, return to the materium, to get what he always wanted.

Harsh statement maybe cause that‘s not what most would label him as, but his biggest weakness was always an inability to accept his shortcomings and that other were simply better at something he wanted to be good at.

The fact that Pertie didn't apply his own principles to himself hardly makes him unique. It's already sus that he would fight alongside Lorgar if he hates chaos so much. If he could persuade himself to aid chaos, then why not go a little further and use it? If he did it to save his life from the wound Fulgrim gave him, that doesn't seem that out of character.
Personally, i would ADORE if perterabo was patient 0 for the obliterator virus. A massive primarch sized obliterator would be too damn cool

Perturabo should be Malal's unwilling and unwanted champion
Him being a Daemon Prince could be a way of showing the treacherous nature of Chaos; that even a Primarch of such fierce intelligence and iron-clad willpower, could be manipulated by the ruinous power.
And if he HAS to be a Daemon Prince, he should really be working with Vashtorr.
Perturabo was slowly getting weaker because of what Fulgrim did to him. His escape from this slow death was demonhood.

Being him being a demon is nonsensical even with the Iron Cage retconn/edit. Just read his novel and many pieces of fluff that are scattered inany codex. Peter Turbo never vowed nor recognized Chaos as gods, but a tool. Now for the Nuhammer making him a Demon is just a petty move to "Fix" his character to be more Chaos than canonically should been.
Perturabo becoming a Daemon Prince makes sense to me. It shows how,to the Chaos Gods,everybody is just a piece in an elaborate game of chess. Willing or not and a Primarch is no exception to this. It just further emphasises how damning siding with Chaos is,knowing or not,willing or not.
I always thought that chaos undivided not free of all 4 gods, they all just have equal custody. And becoming a daemon is ultimately being a victim of the warp.
You're no chaos spawn, sure, but you're slaved to the warp in a different way.
Here’s my question can you turn down apotheosis? Like I feel like the chaos gods aren’t going to be like, “what you don’t want to be a demon prince? Ok. Pack it up guys they don’t want it. Save it for the next one.”
It's perfectly on par for his character to want to use every possible source of power in waging war against the Imperium.
Then on top of that, much like the first undivided prince, Be'Lakor, he falsely believes that by being an undivided prince he is in control of himself and his own actions, he is really a puppet for ALL the chaos gods instead of just one.
The tragedy of the undivided primarchs (Horus, Lorgar, and Perty) is that they were all manipulated by powers far greater than them and inable to see it
I agree with him being a Daemon Prince because only because he purchased this power. Unlike Fulgrim, Angron, Mortarion and Magnus who sold themselves to their deity of choice. Perturabo doesn't wear chains of servitude but rather owns the power he has.
Personally, Purturabo should not have become a demon primarch. I wouldve liked it if he kept improving his armor/weapons and made copies of said suit with an a.i. copy of himself, like dr.doom and his doombots.
See my biggest issue, is that becoming an undivided daemon prince is SUCH a big deal. Literally they did it once, and it hit them in the arse so hard with Belakor having no real boss, that they decided not to do it again.
The reason Lorgar was given it, was because of his role in the heresy being so monumental, being the driving force turning a couple primarchs into daemon princes etc
So he received the no-no gift as a reward.
Gifting hundreds of legion geneseed would be worth ascension sure, but no waaaaaay enough to be undivided, even if it was a primarch, ESPECIALLY if it was a primarch, they’re to powerful as mortals alone to be given free reign like Belakor was given.
I also feel Perturabo in general wouldn’t go for it ideally, for the same reason he didn’t upload his own brain in to a robot body when he easily could have.
But the 1st point is the main reason.
There are a few reasons he would become a daemon Primarch of Chaos Undivided.
Number one would be if it could fix that leak in his soul that Fulgrim gave him. He's a master at siege and can know how technology works just by looking at it, but the metaphysical might be just outside his field.
Another would be that while Perty has a sense of logic to himself, he also has an ego like many of the Primarchs and has reason to believe that he could use Chaos without it overtaking him.
Third would be the natural power boost. I mean, we've seen how no Chaos at all worked out for the Night Lords. Plus, if Perty held the power of Chaos while keeping his mind intact, that would be the scariest opponent in the setting.
Fourth would be him offering up all that Imperial Fist geneseed to the Chaos gods just to spite Dorn.
I could easily see Peter Turbo going down the same thought process as Fabius Bile: "Chaos is a great power that can be invaluable, but must be controlled at all costs lest the parasites within prey on you". Combined with his innate arrogance as a Primarch and personality in general, him looking for a way to take the power for himself without submitting to the Chaos Gods makes perfect sense. I could see him conning his way into becoming a Daemon Prince or building himself into a Chaos super-dreadnought that absorbed so much power it's functionally indistinguishable from one. Either way, he's now an unholy creature of the Warp who still has most of his old will that at least believes he's still in control.
I know people are getting tired of HH but I’d like a book about the Iron cage with POV’s of Dorn and Perturabo.
We know Perturabo is dying because of the events of Angel exterminatus so I’d see the Iron cage as his own way of proving to the galaxy he is better than Dorn by digging a double grave for them. In the end though Dorn is acting like a Black Templar and Dorn gets his own men mulched and Peturabo is dissatisfied because yes he won but now he can never prove that in Fortifying and Sieging he was superior. So instead of dying he goes to the Forge of Souls and to Vashtorr and together they make him a new body to ascend into.
I still don't like Perty being a demon. He is such an asshole to everything, i would rather have him steal chaos energy for himself and make deals with Vashtorr. Build a machine or something.
Lets say, demon hates his neighbour and wants him dead. Perty comes over, steals a vase. Demon screams "Don't steal my shit', but Perty runs at the neighbour swinging a vase to kill him for his own ends. Demon says "Fuck it, fine, I will tolerate this for now"
I always assumed that Fulgrim "gift" had somehow wounded him in a lethal way, (spoilers, Fulgrim gifted a pinned medalion to Perturabo that was basically a cursed item that constantly drained Perturabo soul or something like that and weakened him significantly) and that was coming to a head by the time of the Iron Cage and so, while despising chaos, he used the ascension to Demonhood to heal himself and survive. Was that just extra mental gymnastic?

It's literally mortarions story too. Despised warp stuff, stated slowly learning warp secrets and sorcery to "combat and dominate it". Turns into a daemon subject to the whims of the gods but endlessly yaps about being no one's puppet and being masters of the warp.
I just don't get HOW he got to be raised to be a demon of chaos undivided. Like, who empowered him. All of the chaos gods, undivided? They all decided to put the great game on hold again just to power up this stubborn ass?
Very quick answer: no he shouldn't. He always renounced chaos, it makes no sense for him to be a daemon prince. AT MOST he should have an alliance with Vashtorr or something
You should make a video regarding of how powerful and encompassing the grip of chaos gods over sentient mortals and their lives regardless of how corrupted or uncorrupted they are and if they're not omniscient nor omnipresence, how to elude, evade, resist if not diminish the influences of chaos
Or how the non-Chaos aligned warp gods can have independent influences from chaos gods, even including Hivemind as an Eldar that somehow broke into Imperial Palace mentioned how current Enthroned Emperor's psychic radiance in The Warp are greater than entirety of Slaanesh or how The Hivemind presence and the psychic quantity are bigger than all of the 4 chaos gods combined, there are bizarre scaling between these entities
Oh also if C'tan powers can influences The Warp and Chaos or not in both full race, full form (singular) or in shards
I think Perturabo being trapped in a suit, as if he and Vashtorr have been operating together for millennia together and Perturabo's agreement with Vashtorr wasn't "You will give me something over time" but instead "We shall work together so I may ascend to Godhood" would be cool. Vashtorr was playing into the Great Game whilst Perturabo doesn't care about that and is willing to help so long as it affects the Long War.
Well given that Perty's having his soul leached from him like a dark eldar, and Soils, especially Primarch souls are creatures of the warp, it makes sense for him to replenish that if he's got the power to do so. Makes you wonder when Asdrubael Vect will ascend to Godhood.
I think he shouldn't be a Daemon Prince *_BUT_* be daemon-influenced. The Iron Legion is arguably the most capable at forcing daemons into their tech to make it work better, and with the amount of tech integrated into his physical body while being directly within The Warp as the leader of the faction that infests technology with daemons, it's bound to have some consequences, even if not intentionally
My read of the lore has always been that Perterabo wasn't so much FOR Chaos as he was AGAINST the Imperium, and Chaos was the only other option. Also, for the mechanics of the game and the lore, there needs to be a good/bad balance in the game, so the numbers need to be padded somehow and it's not like there's a neutral side in this.
It's not too farfetched. Look at Ferrus and his love/hate relationship with his metal hands. Perturabo found a better building material in the form of a daemon. Nothing more, nothing less.
I would prefer if he becomes an independent minor Warp God. It would fit his personality of wanting to control and dominate the immaterium's powers like a tool.
It will also be an interesting dynamic because now the Emperor has a son who, is mirroring him in being a warp God and also infused into a machine, but doesnt disturb GW's overall lore of the 4 Chaos Gods being the bigger antagonists.
I always thought that Perty’s ascension could also be a bit of a punishment, with the chaos gods kind of rubbing just how badly he fucked up into his face. Ironically I never really thought about Perturabo of all people simply looking at ascension as a stat boost.
I can see that but I still feel personally that Perturabo shouldn’t be a demon prince but should have instead sacrificed a cadre of his soldiers as the tools of chaos (warp smiths, dark Mechanicus, etc) which would fall more in line with his mentality. Likewise with Mortarian.
What about the Alpharius Omegon who is left? Should he be a Daemon Prince?
I would love for the scouring series that comes after the Heresy (because come on theyd be stupid not to. Its such a large chunk of time with even more potential.) To show that he didnt really become a prince. But instead maybe created a Linch like work around. Using warp magic and the sacrifice of all that imperal fist gene seed to make himself like a golem of iron and while chaos tainted. Not a subject to the powers. That could work and would allow him to hold to the character hes become while still evolving. And because its so unique the idiot cultists wouldnt understand it.
If perturabo is a follower of chaos undivided then why is abbadon the chaos warmaster
I would love new Perturabo lore, with Vashtor in the setting now it be a layup to have Perty be some techno-biological hybrid demon prince. It's already Cannon that the iron warriors cut off limbs that get infected with chaos and replace them with technology. It'd be awesome to have him reaching the end of his rope seeking Vashtor to stop or slow the corruption of his body while living in the warp.
I think a mix of Perturabo with a sort of harnessed, personal demon engine would be neat. Perty would never surrender himself to a god, but why not harness the powers of someone who has? I'm thinking a suit powered by one might be neat.

I don't think he's a demon Prince cuz it demon Prince would mean having to give up your soul to a chaos god. I think peter turbo is just doing a workaround and accumulating enough warp power for himself to rival the gods while keeping his soul from seeping out from his body because his rape snake brother did a no no on him
How the fuck do you become a "Daemon Prince" and not get consumed by it? The cost is literally your soul and eternity! If he is a Daemon Prince of chaos undivided then that means chaos has consumed him!
I mean i feel like youre misreading the portions where its made explicitly clear that he fucking hates demons with a passion and besides the empirium there isnt much he hates more. So to turn his back on that so quickly even if undivided (which is the cocksucking losers who tell themselves theyre not controlled) its dumb for him to fall in line like the rest. Obviously they couldve pulled off a great fall from grace tragedy but the heresy era writing for Perty is admittably weak

He should be a demon engine or something with his mini, there's a way to use pertuabo as a demon prince creatively and lean into different things other than "hes a big dude" He should be a giant contemptor-leviathan dreadnought type thing not leaning into the usual chaos asthetic lack spikes and stuff and just be a dreadnought with a more iron warriors style, maybe spikey rivets and his usual weapons.
So this is just my personal Head cannon But i'd like to believe. He's not a demon prince He's affected by the obliterator Virus
I feel like him making a suit of daemon engine terminator armour would be more in character but less in universe.
However, I don't know all that much about him.
