Tina Louise, co-starring with Les Crane, her then husband and father of her daughter, Caprice, and Aldo Ray, who was her love interest in her first motion picture, "God's Little Acre".

So many people make fun of broad gay characters in earlier comedies. As if gay characters in current comedies are written so brilliantly!

I will always associate "LOVE AMERICAN STYLE" with ABC-TV,because from 1969 to 1974,this Paramount TV series was part of the Aphabet's Friday night line-up,and Family TV was just such a great experience on Friday nights,,it was fantastic! the show also followed "THE BRADY BUNCH","THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY","ROOM 222" and i think,
"THE ODD COUPLE",in its first season. but LAS was just pure magic! it had a Galaxy of top guest stars each week, along with the funny scenes with Arnold Margolin and Barbara
Minkus, who later worked on ABC-TV's "CURIOSITY SHOP" series as "Gittle, the Witch"
but still, there was just nothing like this anthology series, until "THE LOVE BOAT" came along,,and even then,it just couldn't hold a candle to this series! not even ABC's efforts to revive the series in 1985 helped any! people may not remember, but Hanna-Barbera did two episodes of "LOVE AMERICAN STYLE",and one of them, was the pilot to their 1972 syndicated cartoon series,"WAIT Til' YOUR FATHER GETS HOME!" not many (none) TV sitcoms had this kind of clout and class, but "LOVE AMERICAN STYLE" was truly a first in its class-one of Paramount TV's Top rated Primetime shows in its history!!

Avery Schreiber played Tina Louise's camp hair dresser, the only role that they let be 'gay' (without of course saying anything overt) and he was not allowed to have a sexuality, he had to be a court jester or eunuch, case in point this thing. But, having said that, and watching it again, I'm gratified to realize it was his 'advice' that was one that prevailed! Aldo Ray had no clue!

Aldo Ray 1926-1991, poor guy..drinking problems and on skid row and died in Martinez California.

Avery seemed a little light in the loafers here. It must've been before he discovered the wondrous powers of Doritos brand tortilla chips! :D (I was just watching him in The Monitors, another classic performance!)

@@MayorOfMoetown stereotypes still exists. They're funny because they are true. I have worked with make hairdressers like him since 1989. Male chauvinism still exist too.
