  • Classic wooden bull nose plane. Enjoy the video!
    During video editing i was trying to add some text notes to every step of the building process but it's very difficult for me and takes a lot of time. I gave up, i'm sorry. There is too much things and steps to describe. Now i'm looking for other way to do this..

      if you want to you could write a blog somewhere for those who are interested, no need for video editing and keeps those satisfied who don't think it's a good idea

      I managed to follow along just fine, and I’m from Florida.
      Sometimes actions speak louder than words, and tool sounds are always better than annoying music you hear every other video

      I like what you do now. Pretty much perfect, and perfectly clear. Love it when you write things on the wood or such. Don’t bother with captions and such as for me ;)

      This guy us a artist and a good presenter or teacher.
      You can't always guess when he's in fast forward mode or just having fun.
      I guess you can call the brass plate a "bumping" plate.

    Stavros, I learn more from you with no talking than almost every other video out there. Only one older gentleman on a TH-cam channel is as eloquent.
    Without getting into making names, I think you both got your talent and skill by the same honest methods. The pencil notes are so instructive, keep going as you are.

    I love hand planes. I love being able to 'hear' a slices 'sing of the wood' from a well-tuned plane. Your 'bull nosed plane' sure looks great and could help in those tight spots of furniture work. Aloha.

    I agree with others. No notes are really necessary because your camera work makes the process very clear. If people want to know the specifics of the process, they can take a look in John Whelan's book, Making Traditional Wooden Planes, which you show at the beginning of the video. It is still in print and is available from many online book sellers.
    By the way, your craftsmanship is beyond compare! I am so inspired by your videos!

    Very nice handplane and video. It`s OK without notes, once I did a thing in 3 hours and it took me 6 hours to edit and encoding ;) :)

    Nice work Stavros! Do you find that this bullnose plane tends to dig in the wood you are planing, because of the very short front of the mouth?

      Thanks, no - the plane is laying on the sole and there is no problem with diggin in the wood.

    very intresting, beautiful. mr gakos i have a question how to make a surface for planing , where should i start planing means after cutting aboard that has ups and downs , should i chisel it first or use some other method . please suggest.

      I have only two planes thats it, one 5inch another7-8 inches straight , i made them both with two chisels got plane iron from market , dont have any other i made only two planes and time it took i hate it with no vise , nothing only a concrete floor , my lawn damn it , my tools are mean tools they will work but how thats a mystery, souls are river currents on my planes who cares they cut thats enuf. Will try this plane i dont have know how for this usage , i have spent all time in making 2planes . Damn.
