I would love to see updates on the landscaping projects you started at others' homes! How are the plants filling in the spaces? What unexpected problems occurred? How were those problems addressed? What plants have been added?
And I think it's better way for us cause we can see all the details in that spot and you can spent more time talking about your thought process behind it.
Hi Laura. As for more garden tours personally I would love more annnd no one is judging you and showing imperfections makes it real...so I do hope you do more pleease. xx
I find Garden tours a bit overwhelming. What about dividing up your yard into sections, like north, south east and west. Or others. Then it might be simpler for you and not as much of a time commitment for you and Aaron.
Garden tour discussion: I think MORE! I personally think it not being absolutely perfect makes it more relatable & real. Believe me, you are still goals!
Always love Q&A day, learn things every time. I think on April 1st (April Fool's Day) you should switch roles and have Aaron do a video and you do the camera. Wouldn't that be fun! I agree with the others, don't worry if everything isn't perfect in your garden for a tour, we love seeing every aspect. 💚
You have a huge house, and yard. There's no way everything can always be 'perfect' at the same time. :) I missed the garden tours last year, but I know you had some HUGE projects and a toddler. Just glad your still making videos! Thank you!
Laura one of the many things we love about your channel is your genuineness. We all have works in progress and the journey/progress of those things from beginning to end is what’s so fun and fascinating. 🥰 including the stuff along the way that maybe doesn’t turn out the way we plan, that’s when the fun comes in to see how we figure it out or if it ends up being a happy accident. Love love ALL your videos and you both do an amazing job. Blessings to you and your whole family. 🥰
I love it when you do your little tours of each part of your garden. I have learned so much from you when you do so, and I love watching the process of what you’ve done. Thank you so much for always sharing and being so informative! 💐❤️💐
For Michaela and anyone else limited to growing in containers: if you’re on a budget you can use 5gal buckets from any home improvement store and even storage totes. Just be sure to drill in plenty of drainage holes. You can pretty them up with plastic-adhering spray paint, too, if you want. For several years I had to grow my vegetable garden in containers and it worked out quite well. I typically had 2-4 buckets and a storage tote going. I added a layer of pine cones in the bottom of the containers to help with their drainage and just made sure to give everything plenty of water. I referred to Square Foot Gardening and Companion Planting to plant quite intensively in my storage tote each season.
Thats how I did my tomatoes last year! As I am limited on space as well as have become disabled. So a majority of my produce gardening I do in comtainers now.
I would love some garden tours with holes and leaves on the ground and other things you didn't button up. For me, living in a big city and not having a garden, it is very hard to imagine exactly how much work a garden is - especially a size like yours. Love you guys - I live my garden dreams through you
you cover so many things in a week! have you noticed? lol.. these recaps just remind me how much you are constantly teaching us!! love the recaps, such a fun idea and reminder of all we've learned in a week!! :)
Hi 😊 can you make a "day in life" video where you show us how you tackle everyday tasks and how you prioritize on your projects? If you have a planner, can you show how you write out your schedule? You seem to be so productive, especially with Benjamin and all the other garden/house chores 👍😊 as a mom of a toddler and a beginner gardener, it would be helpful to see such a video. Thank you! (Darya 🌷)
June Smart I haven’t tried it with candles, but with wax warmers I like to gently warm the container and use cotton pads to soak up and wipe out the wax...doesn’t run the risk of damaging the wax bowl. Again, I’m not sure how it would translate to candleholders.
I personally would LOVE more garden tours. I'm in Australia, and even though our seasons are topsy turvy, and I can't buy a lot of the plants you show...I have learnt so much about design and texture for the garden. I always love watching a planting video, where you explain what plants are where and your thinking behind what you are planting in that spot. So seeing your garden, holes and all, would be lovely...so a yes please for more garden videos from Down Under
I know this may sound backwards in your head. But I love you MORE when you show the areas that aren’t perfect or aren’t completed yet. Nobody’s garden is ever 100%, so it comforting to see when a very seasoned gardener shows some flaws. 💛
Yeeeeesssss more tours! Please?? The tours are what make me want to change things I do not like and purchase to add in spaces I have open. If that makes sense. Gardens are always evolving and I love seeing the real garden rather than a finished product. I like to see how did you get there?? Visual learning 😊
Hi, Laura and Aaron (and Russell too) (love that cat), I will and do watch any videos that you post! I find myself waving BYE right back to you at the end of your videos, LOL! Does anybody else out there in Garden Answer Land do that, or am I the only crazy one?
I love it so much when you and Aaron are having a good laugh in your videos, I laugh with you even when I'm alone at home, I don't know, you both and Benjamin make me happy always, and thank you for that :)
Coffee with Laura and of course Russell lol Thank you for this as it always reminds me of things that I may have missed when I watch the video the first time!!
For the container garden... if you're looking for function over looks, I use my local home improvement 5 gallon buckets... drill holes in the bottoms, fill, plant and enjoy... herbs, tomatoes, bell peppers, flowers... works like a charm and I'm going on 5 years with the same buckets!!
Could you please do a Before and After garden tour? You and Aaron have done so much since you've moved in and I love watching all the work in progress and especially enjoy seeing the plants as they establish themselves over the years. Im sure you have plenty of footage to show side by side comparison from the years. Please! :)
Hi Laura so excited you are coming to Boston!! In regards to “leggy” heuchera. You can break/cut off the old branch and plant it in a moist soil burying the steam in the soil up to the first leaf. That is the easiest way to propagate the heucheras.
I loved that you showed that area next to your house (during the tour) that was all torn apart! Cause I know you are planning on putting a moon garden there, it's nice to be able actually see a project from start to completion. Love to be able to see the process of when you put the new walk way in there. Hope you can show us the whole process of creating this new garden space!!!
I love when Russell makes a sudden appearance. My friend has an orange cat named Russell too. I’ve sent him some of your videos with Russell in them...LOL
I'm so much with Aaron, I'd love watching garden tours on a regular schedule just to see how your garden is doing as the season progresses. Also, I know as a perfectionist myself I want the garden to be tidy and clean all the time, but the fact that it isn't is healthy for me, it teaches me to understand I can't control everything. That being said, I get why you get stressed about the tours, you feel like your garden needs to be perfect, clean, in full bloom and so on, but rest assured we gardeners understand and love watching your garden progress and grow, even if it's not perfect or ready to show.
Laura, can you maybe throw in the next video that some herbs are used as host plants by certain butterfly species? I get a ton of black swallowtail caterpillars on my herbs every year and I let them eat what they want. My herbs always grow back, but its a shame to know people spray the butterfly cats because they don't realize that their herb plant is a host plant!
Love the look on your face when you said your parent's garden center just got a new load of plants! That's how I feel right now shopping online for Cyclamen bulbs!!!
Another great recap, excellent questions!! And I also loved the tour of the garden show in Seattle!!! My favorites were the mannequins & Beatrix Potter's home, what a treat! The whole show was spectacular & I want one of everything in the shop area!!!! 😊🥰🐰🐇🐓🐔🌷🌼🌻🌺🌿🌳❤💚❤💚
Laura, On our raised beds we used hardware cloth in the bottom to keep out moles and gophers, then the the compost , etc. etc. Our plants flourished. Your Seattle video/show was phenomenal. Smiles. Loved it. Gorgeous color
If you add stretchers between the legs of your table, then you could pop slats in and have two good size shelves under neath it. Empty pots, dirt, fertilizer, seed flats, etc could all store underneath and free up your greenhouse space.
YES PLEASE plant a Bleeding Heart and do a general info and maintenance video!! I planted one last spring and love it but don’t know how to prune it etc. By the end of the season my plant had a ton of suckers (don’t know if that’s what they’re called) and it looked a little wild. I just left it alone and figured I’d take care of it in spring.
Once it’s finished flowering, cut it right to the ground and it will flush back, and it may possibly bloom again but if not at least you’ll have some healthy foliage
I just love all your videos, your so calming to watch. I really love all your garden tours. I keep learning so much from you. Thankful black thumb. You make me feel so hopeful.
Laura, when i have heuchera with ugly stems (i think they all do in 3-5 years) i dig it out and separate to many smaller pieces (even without roots) and plant them to shadow wet place in my garden and basically create out of 1 plant many. If not to cover that steam- heuchera most likely will die during the cold winter (i am in zone 5-6). Never heard about cutting it to the ground completely (this depends on the plant condition - it can also kill the plant)
Gardens are always work and progress... We really don't care if parts of the garden are «a mess» in tours. It's real life and it's fun to see the progress.
plastic/resin planter pots have a triangle at the bottom with a number in it. The number tells you whether it's safe to plant edibles in it. Some pots aren't safe for food growing/herbs etc. You can look up the number code on line.
Please do more garden tours and show us the "behind the scenes" I would love to see more of the work in progress things, like when you filled in the pond! Those work in progress things are what inspire me to go out and do my own projects.
Just FYI on replacing the candle within the candle holder, instead of hot water I usually just put mine in the freezer. It makes the wax shrink enough where it just pops right out of the votive. Handy tip!
Laura I have a square large planter on wheels (plastic). I put my herbs in it "all of them" and need to pull it into the full shade once in awhile here in Minnesota because of the rain. It may stay there for a couple of days sometime then I pull it out again for sun. They do fine..... sometimes I forget them there for more like a week and because it's cooler in the shade they seem to like it. Never had a problem and I love it right next to my kitchen on the deck for ease of use.
I meant to mention this in the flower candle vid. I watched a video where flowers were put in a table. They used fresh flowers but dipped them in epoxy and hung them to dry before they poured the table top. I think this would seal the moisture in the flower so they look good in the epoxy for ever. I have not tried this yet but I'm in the process of getting the stuff to build my own flower dinning table.
I think it would be nice to see a citrus tree pruning. How do you and when do you suggest to prune a dwarf lemon tree? When should someone re pot a dwarf lemon tree?
Hi Laura and Aaron. I love your videos. They are so professional. My “yard” is a great deal smaller than yours, so instead of put a few plants of the same type together, I just put one. It is still pretty though. Thankyou for all you both do for us. You’re amazing, from the UK
I have a question for you that's been bothering me. I had an elderly man tell me the other day when I was buying a bag of soil that I'm buying a bag of human sewer sludge mixed with wood chips, I thought he was joking but after looking it up I see now what he was talking about and now I'm concerned about growing vegetables and fruit in potting soil, seems very confusing tho, it supposedly doesnt have to be labeled? Idk, help!
Hi Laura and Aaron! I love these recap videos. A lot of times I see answers to questions that I was wondering about, too! It's definitely ok to show the not so pretty areas, too, and then show what you did to them. This would be very helpful. Aaron, please talk her into this. ;-) Thank you for sharing!
What a personal question!! Why is it we think we deserve to know personal stuff about you? We dont!! I guess we feel we know you cos we watch your brilliant vids so much. Thank you for sharing yourselves along with your expertise with us.
Regarding the silver 'shell' around tealights, Partylite makes tealights with a clear plastic shell that virtually disappear in a holder. I think they would be perfect in your pressed flower candle holders.
When our kids were little friends, also with small children, from out of town would come to visit. After one visit she asked "do your kids ever fight." No, I said...of course they fight, they're just so happy to have visitors they'd rather play than fight. 😃
Very good video. Learning a lot. Keep these coming. Love your gardens and taking what you are telling us and trying them out on my patio garden. Hopefully be able to try the tips and tricks on my outside garden.
Suggestion for the candles - Put a bit of water into the container and then drop the candle in, so that the candle is floating. It will burn down to almost nothing, just dump out the bit of candle and water when the candle is used up.
Pressure treated wood does not always have holes in them. The wood that we get that is pressure treated is a little green because they use copper to treat the wood. I believe new pressure treated wood is safe for vegetable gardens they use to be toxic but now they are pretty safe.
Hey Laura, since you're doing these weekly Q&A (and previous week recap) videos, do you want us (the other, regular viewers) to respond to questions or should we leave them for you (for content)? I don't want us to (unintentionally) eat into your content ideas. It's just some of the questions are asked over and over (even ones you've previously addressed). Let us know. Thanks as always.
Do you do any permaculture gardening, on your property? If not ,would be a excellent addition to your videos. 🐝🐞Thanks! Look forward to that video. I enjoy all your videos. And your parents garden.🌻🌼🥀🌺🌳
👍🏼💕👍🏼💕👍🏼💕Wish List... Love the Bonide app you shared when you answered the cricket 🦗question. I’d love for you to do a vid on what apps you use for plants/garden design/fertilizer/????? 🌻🌸🥕🍋
The mini garden tours would be great and we all have areas that are a work in progress or just don’t turn out the way we plan. Have you ever planted the whopper begonia? I planted a few last year and they were huge and beautiful - morning sun afternoon shade.
Can't wait to attend the garden show at Boston and meet with you. I was wondering if you have any tips/tools/process to clear an overgrown area with brush and weeds to make a garden bed
Could you point me to your videos about or where you mention in a video about your composts? And maybe when to or when not to compost? I was really surprised one could add food scraps right into a flowerbed, that this also has benefits.
Have you or any of the gardens you've visited though about using QR codes to lable things in the garden. That way you could do one lable for a bed , and link it to information about the plants.
another use of those plant tags , for the neighbors who are walking by and want to see what your planting...pop a tag into the ground and they too can enjoy your garden and know what variety you bought
Awww Laura, I think I speak for 99% of your fans when I say there is absolutely no judgment, just awe and amazement. 🌻🌈🌻
Absolutely!!!
I would love to see updates on the landscaping projects you started at others' homes! How are the plants filling in the spaces? What unexpected problems occurred? How were those problems addressed? What plants have been added?
Yes I was wondering about them the other day too, would love to see how they have grown.
Maybe do more tours of specific areas of your garden, and not just full blown tours. Pick areas or sections that look really nice here or there💚
Yea. We can take a 2 min bulb tour in each section of the garden. I'd be happy with that. 😁
Yes! Or a tour of each side of the house 😊🌱
And I think it's better way for us cause we can see all the details in that spot and you can spent more time talking about your thought process behind it.
Yeah! Love that idea🌲

WAX REMOVAL IN CANDLEHOLDER: Pop it in the freezer until hard, flick the frozen wax out with a knife blade. EASY!
June Smart
I haven’t tried it with candles, but with wax warmers I like to gently warm the container and use cotton pads to soak up and wipe out the wax...doesn’t run the risk of damaging the wax bowl. Again, I’m not sure how it would translate to candleholders.

She said my name! I’m fan-girling so hard right now!!!!

I would enjoy more intimate vlog style tours of specific parts of the garden with close ups of some of the plants :) might be easier too for u
I love when Russell makes a sudden appearance. My friend has an orange cat named Russell too. I’ve sent him some of your videos with Russell in them...LOL
Yup, I want the real deal when it comes to garden tours. Perfection isn't normal. : )
I loved the shorter area specific and more detailed tours you did last year too. As I’m making plant lists those are super helpful!!
I'm so much with Aaron, I'd love watching garden tours on a regular schedule just to see how your garden is doing as the season progresses. Yes, diatomaceous earth kills the catapillars too!
Yup, keep it real. we want to see the areas that don't look so good! helps us feel like better gardeners!!!!
Seems like each video brings you 1,000 new subscribers! Happy for you!
People love those garden tours! Thanks for sharing!
Yes we would love to see how project progress and how you deal with and possible plans for “holes and gaps”
Laura, On our raised beds we used hardware cloth in the bottom to keep out moles and gophers, then the the compost , etc. etc. Our plants flourished. Your Seattle video/show was phenomenal. Smiles. Loved it. Gorgeous color
Love garden tours! We love seeing the work in progress aspect of your garden!
I like how you are kindly showing viewers how to google some of these concerns. 👍🌱
Love that you kept gently pushing Russel's tail down so he wasn't showing the camera his booty. Haha life with cats.
I love him he's just the cherry on top of the cupcake! 😹
And right after she said "butt in". I thought that was pretty funny.
I just love these recap video!! So helpful!! 🌸🌼
If you add stretchers between the legs of your table, then you could pop slats in and have two good size shelves under neath it. Empty pots, dirt, fertilizer, seed flats, etc could all store underneath and free up your greenhouse space.

Get Aaron to do a garden tour that would be fun.
It would be fun to see Aaron do a garden tour and get his point of view on what he likes or dislikes in the garden 😉
Gardens are always work and progress... We really don't care if parts of the garden are «a mess» in tours. It's real life and it's fun to see the progress.

@Shirley Holden thanks, I never thought of that and I'll check before planting in containers this year.
Wow, good to know!
maybe consider a video on making compound butter with herbs/butter then freeze. It's a great way to use our herbs and love it on steak.
Thanks for the inspiration! My husband made one and will make more. Nice design.
Please do more garden tours and show us the "behind the scenes" I would love to see more of the work in progress things, like when you filled in the pond! Those work in progress things are what inspire me to go out and do my own projects.
You can get tea lights with clear holders, I put those all around sometimes without even being in a candle holder with no problems
Just FYI on replacing the candle within the candle holder, instead of hot water I usually just put mine in the freezer. It makes the wax shrink enough where it just pops right out of the votive. Handy tip!
I also use the hot water idea and a paper towel to wipe out the wax.

I went to my hairdresser today and showed her your picture to get the same hair done, color and cut. Can you believe that? 😇😅
Ghazala Chaudhry I love her hair too
I always like how gorgeous is Laura's hair too😊

She’s done quite a few videos on citrus, not sure about pruning but she’s definitely done repotting
You guys are adorable! Love Russel. And people stick with garden questions....
We like to get to know them as people, not just gardeners. If.you dont like it, you can fast forward.
Hi Laura and Aaron. I love your videos. They are so professional. My “yard” is a great deal smaller than yours, so instead of put a few plants of the same type together, I just put one. It is still pretty though. Thankyou for all you both do for us. You’re amazing, from the UK

I used cedar fence pickets from HD for my raised beds. They were very reasonable and people just don't think to use them.
I want to see your garden and the family’s on a regular basis and on different seasons
Love all your videos!
It's nice to see the areas in the garden your working on to see the progress through the seaaon/years. Shoe the "bad" so we can see progress to good.
Yay!! More garden tours!
What a personal question!! Why is it we think we deserve to know personal stuff about you? We dont!! I guess we feel we know you cos we watch your brilliant vids so much. Thank you for sharing yourselves along with your expertise with us.
You saved my roses with the Rose RX recommendations. I'm in zone 5b. Couldn't recommend it more.
You were looking for white plants for your Moon Garden - you could put a white Bleeding Heart there!
Yankee candle has a tea light in a clear container just for this purpose. Burn time 6 hours
If you fold the cut end of the wire cloth under itself you can staple that down and not have sharp edges
You need to write a book!features all your garden and knowledge.
Great review thank you Laura and Aaron. 👍🏼
Tea lights also come in a clear base. Harder to find than the metal, but look much better used in a clear votive.

@@laurelking9640 Thanks, Laurel!
Beautifully done!
Thanks so much for all of the wonderful information. See you in Boston! 😁
Gabbion fence is wonderful we are using them to in large our driveway retain walls
Your just amazing! Thank you ❣
Have you or any of the gardens you've visited though about using QR codes to lable things in the garden. That way you could do one lable for a bed , and link it to information about the plants.

another use of those plant tags , for the neighbors who are walking by and want to see what your planting...pop a tag into the ground and they too can enjoy your garden and know what variety you bought
