- Thanks for watching this video! I'm so happy that these brand new recipes (to me) turned out! Here are a couple suggestions if you want to try making this one: only use a THIN layer of cream cheese frosting, and don't put a second layer of lemon curd on the top. I love how humble and honest you are about everything Laura. You’re always willing to admit what could go wrong and show what “real life” is like behind the camera. It’s really refreshing content to watch amongst a society desiring to only reveal what’s perfect. Anyway, I think I can taste that cake through the screen! It looks amazing! You could also make a yummy lemon pudding with those lemons too!

If you are the last person to say citroen, you're then not allowed to speak anymore until someone says your name. If you do speak then the other person is allowed to hit you. Every family and friend group has different rules though, just like Aaron and Laura. They clearly still need to establish the jinxing rules in their marriage :')
I also love learning about new cultures! American culture is really interesting, but it seems so non-foreign to me because American pop culture is so dominant here in Europe. It must be strange that as an American, you don't get this automatic exposure to another culture just by watching TV etcetera. TH-cam changes that though, and I love that!

Now, we have the slug bug game where the first to see a Volkswagon Beetle says slug bug. The one who doesn't see it first gets slugged in the arm. (Hit) That is what I thought of when I heard your explanation of the Citroen game. 😄

The cake looks delicious, don't ever be afraid of flubbing anything on camera it just makes your fans love you more. Glad Aaron liked it and loved Benjamin's reaction. Also loved the blue/ vase for the yellow bouquet so perfect.

I think that it is terrific that people are sending you such nice baking and cooking tools. Soon you will be 100% professional. I identify more with the way you were before, punting and substituting wherever needed. I don't have all of the professional tools, so it warms my heart to see someone cook so well with patchwork supplies like mine.

I love how your videos aren’t all work...work...work and you take time with your family and show us that. Makes you more real. However, how much work you actually do in your yard puts mine to shame but I’m definitely determined to have my best yard EVER this year!!❤️❤️❤️

I have never heard of the counting either. Usually the first person to notice the Jinx will say "Jinx, you owe me a coke" and whoever says that first, wins. Sometimes you'll have a double or multiple Jinxes where the two people will say "Jinx, you owe me a coke" at the same time. Then you will get or owe multiple cokes to whoever wins. LOL I haven't thought of this stuff in years!

We just said jinx you owe me a coke while punching the other person (maybe punching is a bit much, but not while its a sibling, lol)
We always said, " Jinx, you owe me a coke" ...and counted 1234.. and then when the person said stop they owed you the amount they stopped you at. lol We always tried to count super fast too! I thought Benjamin's reaction to the first bite of cake was super funny! Rubbing his face into the pillow was awesome!

I just made a lemon poppyseed cake! Must be the 'thing to do'! Just a tip for you. When putting the cream etc on the cake, have a jug of hot water and a tea towel handy. Dip the spatula into the hot water, wipe it with the tea towel, then spread the cream. the heat makes it spread easier. You can also dip the knife in the hot water to help cut the cake smoothly.
It's a beautiful cake. The pink lemonade lemons on top were a perfect touch. The color of the pink lemons inside remind me of pink grapefruit. Thank you for sharing, loved this video.

Our saying is "pinch, poke, you owe me a coke" and you keep saying it until you finish faster than the other person. It can get really crazy! Also, I'm very inspired by the lemon cake recipe. I mix recipes quite often. I'm a fan of lemon curd so this one is on the short list. I have two Meyer lemon trees and two dwarf red grapefruit. Thinking I may expand into limes this year. Love the drips on the recipes! Mine are like that as well. I love that you keep it real. Thanks for inspiring us. ❤️

My friend gave me lemons off her tree, so yesterday I made lemon macarons with lemon curd and vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. They're chilling in the fridge as macarons have to be refrigerated overnight before you eat them. The Bavarian Cream looks intriguing. Thanks for sharing!

The cake looks delish! And even if it hadn't turned out, it was nice to have witnessed the making. I learn all kinds of things from your videos: like layering paper around the edges of the plate when frosting a cake. I never thought of that... better than wiping off the plate afterwards.

Here, in the Panhandle of Texas, I learned, "Jinx, you owe me a coke". If you are first to say jinx, that's all it takes.
I have a friend who was born 14 years prior to me (I'm 58) and a little south of where I live (in a small farming community) and she says, "Pinch poke, you owe me a coke".
I have never heard of the counting method. Sorry, I think I have to go with Aaron on this one. 🤣
The cake looks yummy! It's funny that Aaron liked it so well and doesn't care for lemon cakes that much. Maybe, they weren't lemony/sweet in just the right measure for him. You made a face and he didn't.
I have a Kitchen Aid that a dear friend gave me. I adore it and her for doing it! I would not spend that kind of money on myself but I am so thankful that she did it for me! ❤🙂

Loved it when Benjamin ran to take his grandmother’s hand. I miss my grandkids. Lemon anything is a hit with me so this was the trifecta of lemonyness. Yumm. King Arthur flour is the only flour I use as I’ve had fiascos happen with other brands. They have a consistent protein amount in their flours. Just thought I’d throw that out there.
