I'm a very frugal shopper and would love to have your prices. I live by the motto: Use it up; Wear it out; make it do; do without.
Buying a tube of toothpaste for 25 pence (.32 cents U.S.) hasn't been possible since I was a kid back in the 1960's.
It sounds like your food/grocery prices are much lower than ours here in the U.S. I can't find toothpaste for less than one dollar anywhere, not even using a coupon (which I rarely use).

I wash up once a day after my evening meal. Instead of putting extra heating on, I have a hot water bottle and a blanket.

I sometimes buy things that arent necessary and I hate when I do that. We are all being misleaded and pushed to buy more and more, but actually buying less is more satisfying.

I make blankets out of old clothes and use them for bedding for my lovely bunnies during the summer :)
Tip for pet owners too, you can use news paper (if you use it)
My mum's boyfriend brings me bunches of newspaper what's left on the bus and I use that for bedding as I have a hamster what's allergic to sawdust and an asmatic guinea pig that can't use sawdust either :)

I’m so pleased I found that you are on you tube. I remember ages ago seeing u on telly talking about how many bits of toilet roll u use etc. I’m looking at ways to saving money and helping my hubby do we can run our home with ease.
My hubby already buys washing up liquid in bulk. But I’ve not used it as ordinary cleaner so will look into that once I’ve used up what I have got. I still have a large head n shoulders shampoo my mum got me two years ago in my xmas stocking and I wash my hair regularly and twice. But will now only wash my hair once unless it’s super grubby. Also gonna get dry shampoo as at end of the week I work 2 long days with not much time to have a bath saves on water x

I’ve noticed watching your videos that you don’t have a wood stove or fireplace . Is that because the cost of getting the wood is higher than using your heat ? I love a fireplace . Living in Texas we have plenty of wood from our own trees , but I have to wait until the weather gets in the 40’s and I open the windows so it will be cold enough to have a fire :). I wish I lived somewhere colder ! LOL
You sure give great advice !!

Old Bath towels can be cut down to use as hand towels, Old hand towels cut down to use as flannels and old flannels can be used for cleaning cloths. Saves you buying new hand towels, flannels and cleaning cloths. If you need new bath towels friends and family members who are stuck for gift ideas for your birthday or Christmas. You can save a lot of money by asking for practical gifts like towels, bath and body products etc.

Hi Ilona. Agree with all your tips bar one. Morrison's do some microfibre cloths @ 4 for about £1.50. They are brilliant. As a cleaner I do use rags for ickyfied jobs but the MF ones look a lot more professional and they dry very quickly. I've been using WU liquid for cleaning for over 30 years. It is far better than any of those chemical cleaners. Great video as usual. Keep em coming. :)

Maybe a bit off topic because my question is not about fluids. Do you have money saving tips for cat owners? I saw you have one;-) what brand catfood for example? Many thanks in advance and please keep up your great work!

    • @meanqueensuperscrimper8908
      @meanqueensuperscrimper8908  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Hello. I have two cats at the moment, have had three at one time. They can be very fussy eaters. My cats are moggies so don't need any special food. Some need a special diet if they have digestive problems, but see a vet if your cat appears to be a bit poorly.
I get pouches because if I open a tin they will eat the first two meals out of it then reject the rest. I get Whiskas, Sheba, and Felix. One day they might decide that they don't like something, so try one of the others. Months later they will start eating the first one again. Trial and error really. Mine like the jelly pouches and don't like gravy.
As I am home all day most days they get food when they want it. I have dry nibbles out on a tray which they can eat when they feel like it. They get wet food in the morning, at lunchtime and again in the evening. I give them small portions. Too much and they scoff it down and are sometimes sick.
I don't spend more on the expensive brands. If they like it that will cost a lot more to feed them. I get my cat food from Home Bargains. They don't like the cheaper supermarket own brand. I get the cheapest cat litter, I have three trays in the house. £1.55 for a bag of Aldi clay based which clumps. Easy to scoop out the solids.
My cats are not insured. I did have insurance for the first one, I paid it for 15 years of it's life and never needed to make a claim. Then I started putting the money away and built up a pot for vets fees. I don't get insurance now because I have enough to pay for whatever is needed.
      Hope that helps.

Do you go out for a good meal? Well, should do it regularly.

Hello Wendy. This video is three years old. I started on my frugal journey in my mid fifties, before I retired. I cut my hours at work which also cut my income because I no longer enjoyed my job. I like the challenge of living on a small income. I finished work at 60, I am now 71, and life is good.
It's all about priority, work was never about earning money for me, I just needed enough to cover my expenses. I am now in a better place, I don't need to be quite so extreme, because I know how to manage on a small income.
Yesterday I spent £180 in Go Outdoors on leisure wear and camping equipment, and £45 in Aldi on food. I don't eat out, not much fun on your own and I like to know what is in my food. I make delicious meals at home. I don't have takeaways, yuk, horrible. I have a nice car, three cats, and like going on holiday.
My blog is called Life After Money, my brilliant life on a pension.
