Bro the people hating on this for not being Green Day, It is LITERALLY early pop-punk sounding with a political message. Doesn't get more Green Day than that if you ask me.
first half sounds a lot like the Trilogy or even Father of All... (the song) but then once the chorus comes, it turns into something from Insomiac or Warning and the final bridge sounds a lot like Nimrod so....YEAH GOOD STUFF
I don't know why people are saying it sounds like old Green Day, it sounds alot more inspired by old rock n roll to me, the verse melody sounds a little like Johnny B Goode too.

That's so great about hearing it for the first time! The next time you hear it you'll notice something new in it. As the years go by, this song will change. Radio, concert, video versions. Various remixing! Covers with an artist trying to show respect and yet make it their own. It's been awhile since they've put anything new out and I'm exited to hear from them!

I prefer this better than American Dream. American Dream is too happy and Father Of All feeling in my opinion. This song reminds me of the post Nimrod early warning era and i enjoy that
I know Green Day is known for simple power chord songs but I really miss the American idiot/21st century breakdown days when they had so many layers to their songs and incorporated other elements. After 30 years of music it’s so easy to write songs that sound similar to old ones. I wish they incorporate more lead guitar and didn’t have Jason just copy what Billie’s doing 90% of the time. I was a HUGE Green Day fan when I was younger and when people said all their songs sound the same I got mad at them but a decade later sadly I see where they are coming from.
I agree. Does this sound like classic old school ‘90s Green Day? Sure. But I wish they would go back to their magnum opus sound from 21st Century Breakdown.
It’s okay. I like “The American Dream” better. I don’t think it really sounds the old school stuff on this track. Nothing like Kerplunk or Smoothed Out Slappy. It doesn’t have to though. It doesn’t sound bad. The chorus of “I don’t have no brains” sounds a little childish to me lyrically. Maybe it will grow on me. I like the background vocal style the most. Guitar was good, but I’ve heard the hook a million times from them. As far as old school… no it doesn’t sound like Christie Road, 80, 409 In Your Coffemaker, or Paper Lanterns. Again, that’s okay!
The Amazon Live Video sounds a lot better. After listening to that version, it’s a bit better. I think it could use more complex bass lines throughout. Especially since it sticks to the generic guitar riff I have heard from them several times before.
American dream is better, this along with 1981 feels kinda uninspired. If you told me this one was on the trilogy I’d believe it. It’s not bad I just hope the rest of the album is better than this.
This sounds like a generic typical Green Day style song. It’s not bad, but definitely not special or original. It sounds “safe” to me. Just basic chords, nothing new or exciting to listen to.
This sounds exactly the way I want Green Day to sound.
Exactly like themselves, making the same song over and over.
@@goldenhourkodak Their last album was very different and everyone moaned, now they sound like green day and everyone's moaning again.
It sounds like Maria
@@goldenhourkodak Making the same song over and over must not be that easy otherwise we'd see many more bands as successful as Green Day doing it.
thats ACDC OR sum a1 that all sound the same not Green day@@goldenhourkodak

Green Day sounding better than ever, reminds me of their old songs!!!
They’re actually back. This album is about to be their best in a long time! Can’t wait for the tour announcement
ppl ask for these kind of songs then complain when they make them 😂 classic sounding green day love it 🤘

Yes! They're actually sounding like Green Day again! I'd say this would fit around the Kerplunk - Nimrod timeframe.
I’d say more of insomniac-warning but yeah
Everyone moaning about it being same same same, its the same band you melts
This song fucking slaps. Can’t wait for the album.
I love this! Great quality too!
Sounds like it came right off demolicious. Pretty old school
State of Shock lol
More like Maria@@Shone_Brightly
I meant shenanigans, Dammit. Demolicious isn't old school
Отличная песня!!!👍🔥🤘👏
All the new songs kick!🤘🥳

Hehe I was thereee
If it’s all part of a grand concept album like Idiot it’ll work
1:39 feels like a layered guitar part could have been placed there, aka bending string solo of some flavor, but good rock n roll song
Exactly what you’re describing is in the studio version

This song reminds me a bit of St. Jimmy. 🤔
Awesome Billie Joe 💎 Unfortunately, I ain't got your energy! 😏
Sounds like Maria
Nimrod vibes.
He's definitely preaching what he sings 1:40
this sounds like is they took a song off dookie or nimrod and re-recorded it in 2023
They should have released this as a signal before "The American Dream Is Killing Me" because this is way better.
I honestly think this album may be better than 21st century breakdown
that would be hard to beat imo
I miss his old voice
sounds the same to me lol but of course he's older now

How can a song with such a stupid title be so damn catchy.....
Is this song from the trilogy?
No it’s a new song from their upcoming album “Saviour”, due for release in January

In my country, we would say "a very well-made rice and beans", which means, basic, standard, but very well executed.
I Can't believe Green Day sounds like Green day 😂
It's an album filler
It sounds like something that could've been on Insomniac
Uninspiring album filler imo 😢
