Everything about OG is just a madhouse when it came to TI8.
NoTail had to re-form his squad 3 weeks before TI8 after losing his Mid and Offlaner among a host of other things that happened.
Ana joined the team just before some crushing losses sustained by OG.
7ckngMad had to go from being coach to stand-in offlaner after Resolution left.
Jerax was problably the only thing consistent in OG after being dropped from Liquid after TI6. Hats off to him for that.
...And then to fill out the roster NoTail rolls the dice and and takes on some guy who's been playing Dota since he was 8 and his only notable achievements were getting into group stage at World Electronic Sports Games 2017 and third place in joinDOTA League Season 12 Europe.
His name? Topson.
This newly formed OG enters TI8 via the open Qualifiers and the rest as they say is history.

I think he was one of the best in Liquid and coz Liquid didn't work so well for him he wanted to try something new so then he went to OG
It's not that bad as fly's and s4's doings but his former team (Liquid) won ti that year.
And actually Jerax was the one who suggested Topson as I believe he was doing pretty well on pubs.
But nontheless I agree this has to be one of the craziest story.
For sure. And n0tail had to do that while like his best friend and another long term team mate had just betrayed him haha. I cant even imagine. Thank god for Seb and Jerax being around.

Its not Notail who brings players in the Pro scene its the organization itself, every big organization that are looking for players keep tab on players with high mmr and those who join other tournaments even if its just a small time tournament. Ana was scouted by OG not just notail.
Even after 2 years, still can't believe these plays were from a TI debutant. His confidence and the way he reads the game was insane.
As an invoker player, i could say it's not easy to up against kunkka or bs in lane.. despite of his lot of deaths, he still manage to stay among top networth.. that's impressive..
Topson's game sense makes me feel mentally disabled.

I thought he played really bad on that invoker game but after seeing it again from his player perspective I feel very different about it.. He did really well actually, bloodseeker is just a tough match-up.
Yes, his positioning is so good. He's lile real life mage playing mind games with the enemies. He's so unpredictable that the enemies cannot decide if they shall chase or look for another target. Scary.
He knows when to fight and when to run.
And he had to play Exort Voker. There are minimal Exort games he has played ever, analysts went through his match history and could barely find any results.
i really like his spell usage. very patient. . he's not overeager to dump crucial spells too early. Abed could really learn a thing or two watching him.
He is never useless....he adapt his play style even when he lose lane... Unlike some "pro" mid player

To people who say Topson was carried by Ana and the others, I beg to disagree. I should remind you guys that this is a first time TI player. To play at the level that he has played shows what character and skills he has got. Yeah Ana played great, but again, DOTA 2 is a 5v5 game. Every one in OG deserved it because they helped and trusted each other.
Topson always made a ton of space for Ana to farm and take over. So topson did his job very well.
He got bullied only in Final
Most of the time he is, but isn't that the plan? His mains are mk, zeus, pugna, wex voker, all teamfight and spacemaker heroes, like it's his main job is to create chaos and space for ana. He may not have the best GPM and KDA, but he played his role really well
he had 3 weeks to get synced with the newly formed team.

usually invoker players afk farm early on then just sunstrikes, when they join the fight they wait for last hits but topson is different, he initiates, baits and releases his spells early on even without reliable disable or initiation in his team. winning TI with his unique playstyle must felt so good

Many players went through a lot of tournaments just to become pro, went through ups and downs. Some of them felt like it is really impossible to become pro, some gave up and some still keep going. but for Topson was just a miracle for him. just got 1 call and became a pro and Ti champs. Everything happens for reasons.
Believe or not, i do fancy players who main Earth Spirit and he was one of them lately. i was tracking his Earth Spirit gameplay on pubs for a few months to learn a few tricks from him. And now.. he has claimed the Aegis lol.

Im pretty impressed with Topson. I mean, this is the first time he is in this kind of big event, and he, like Gh of Liquid last year, has shown such impressive performance. I would also say that his Invo is kind of one of the best. There may be argument that since he is new, other teams have not yet figure out his play style yet, or there are many other more talented invo player than him, but to be honest, i have seen many so-called-talented invo player who miss lots of combo and are not that great at all. Look at Topson invo and see how he position himself, how he wait and how he use the right skills at the right time is just a satisfying experience.

This is because of OGs teamplay. Topson's job every game is roam around once he gets his timing and make space for Ana to farm. Even if he feeds sometimes, the other teams make their rotations just to kill him. And that's when Ana takes advantage. OG is always one step ahead of the other team.
A legend was born
People complained about his invoker because he was not able to chain the skills properly, but it looks like he was more concerned on dropping each skill at the right place and the right time to be able to make some plays for his team.
I think he was looked on as the newbie and the no one of the team. But his 12 years have definitely shown in his plays

You've got to see how OG support play. Relentlessly saving their carry and setting up the stage for their carry to perform. Without these supports he's just another carry. Give other carry the same dedication they'll excel too.
That is something a 2k MMR player would say because he doesn't get supports in his pubs.
every pro team has good supports, and if anything, Topson gets babysitted the least out of all core players.

Topson is the Sumail of this year's TI. A relatively new guy who came into the team and made his presence felt in a very big way. Unlike Sumail who won the DAC prior to lifting the Aegis at TI5, Topson won no major tournament at all! He is fresh on the professional scene, at least on the scale of TI. He is something else. I think we have another Sumail in the making, a top mid player for a very good team.
