Instead of playing not to lose, they were playing to win. While all the contenders were worrying about the meta and playing the right strat, OG just did their own thing and as a result, their risky-unpredictable strat took everyone off guard and paid off handsomely in the end. As a wise man once said, most people are here to survive but there are those few who are here to thrive.
This can easily be seen in the average length of match. Every other team their average game was 45 to 60 minutes. Meanwhile OG is diving base 18 minutes in and finishing at 29 minutes

On Ti6, it was China (Wings Gaming) vs NA (Digital Chaos, who made an upset over EG in losers finals, aka EG third place) Also, I think the narrative of TI8 ended up so high bc of all the NoTail and Fly drama, which makes it emotional don’t get me wrong, but... idk, if it was Fly in the finales then I get it but... idk. This one tho was more hyped when it comes to a more general sense, TI7 champion vs TI8 defending champion. I dont get the surprise from the diffusal gyro. I do it alot. Flak cannon taking mana from everyone in range is great. Especially like they said, heroes with a low mana pool are ones that diffusal blade hurts badly, more so than Intel heroes. They got lots of mana so u gotta hit them at least 10x to make a difference. BB gets hit 4-5x, and hes on 0 mana from casting a few goo and quills. Gyro is one of the most versatile carry heroes. Can sny, manta, diffusal, lifesteal, so many combos of items. I know any hero can buy whatever items, but gyro is awesome all around, buying certain items based on matchup make him godly.
Yeah, the diff pick was important, but everyone saying it saved the game for them is just being ridiculous. That high ground fight at OG's base was literally the first teamfight where Ana had scepter and level 15 talent. Simply put, both of those factors together just decimated Liquid because it meant their Bristle, Omni, and Chen all had about 20 seconds of utility before they were worthless. That just gave Ana the ability to do ridiculous spirit damage to essentially walking targets.

Also, I think the narrative of TI8 ended up so high bc of all the NoTail and Fly drama, which makes it emotional don’t get me wrong, but... idk, if it was Fly in the finales then I get it but... idk. This one tho was more hyped when it comes to a more general sense, TI7 champion vs TI8 defending champion. Crowd wasn’t the most hyped (PSG.LGD losing to both and getting eliminated the main reason), but damn were those good AF games

@@edymiguel4247 i dont think that the key factors were notail-fly drama and chinese crowd... its just at ti8 OG went all the way from making new team few months before ti and clearing their way through open quals, in grand finals lgd really did put a good fight and at ti9 liquid did quite the opposite... i guess they didnt or couldnt prepare for OG playstyle on many levels - in terms of draft, playstyle and team moves
OG Tiny pick sure advantage to them. A hero w/o a dagger or forcestaff Tiny can throw him to the enemy chasing.

@@youarekid1020 There are 4 or 5 heroes core OG pick which is not miss in their draft. Either IO, Enchantress, Tiny, Magnus or Gyro.

I dont get the surprise from the diffusal gyro. I do it alot. Flak cannon taking mana from everyone in range is great. Especially like they said, heroes with a low mana pool are ones that diffusal blade hurts badly, more so than Intel heroes. They got lots of mana so u gotta hit them at least 10x to make a difference. BB gets hit 4-5x, and hes on 0 mana from casting a few goo and quills. Gyro is one of the most versatile carry heroes. Can sny, manta, diffusal, lifesteal, so many combos of items. I know any hero can buy whatever items, but gyro is awesome all around, buying certain items based on matchup make him godly.
Manaburn effect only work on primary target, so it’s rarely .-.

Jason Curtis but gyro has slow base atk so it's not often build for him .-. The casters were freeze for 5 seconds after ana bought diffusal blade .-.

Yeah, the diff pick was important, but everyone saying it saved the game for them is just being ridiculous. That high ground fight at OG's base was literally the first teamfight where Ana had scepter and level 15 talent. Simply put, both of those factors together just decimated Liquid because it meant their Bristle, Omni, and Chen all had about 20 seconds of utility before they were worthless. That just gave Ana the ability to do ridiculous spirit damage to essentially walking targets.
