I have not seen you interact with many comments however I do hope that you get the chance to see this. I am a 16 year old in the UK who has been trying her hardest to live through the ideas of Stoicism. I do study Classics and thus was immediately drawn to your channel which introduced me to Stoicism in the first place. Through all my hardships, exam stress, personal development which, as we all know is a crucial point not just for teenagers but for all of us as humans, I have been able to use the art of being a Stoic to face these challenges. I'd like to thank you for your consistent efforts in ensuring that the beauty of this philosophy is not locked away in the past, but practiced by thousands around the globe. From London, we appreciate you.

Thank you Ryan, you've made stoicism a normal daily habit in my life. I truly believe you've made the stoic's of over 2000's years ago proud. I read Marcus Aurelius's Medations everyday. If I start to feel depressed or stressed, I go right to his book. Thank you. I look forward to reading your books.

    • @samuelrichardson5953

I believe it could be applied, with the only changes being in the research part of the process, if you're using fictional books as research.
      For example:
If you're reading a fantasy novel, some things you could note down are, plot twists, strong emotional scenes, engaging characters, intriguing setting and interesting or tense conflict.
Then from this when you're forming your own book and linking up the note-cards you can either subcategories the types of emotions, or types of characters or types of conflicts you want to create and use it as inspiration to make or express new emotions, characters, etc and in the process, making them unique and your own.
That's my two-cents, I'd be curious to see how someone else would use this in writing fiction.

I sometimes struggle with finding out that I don't know what I'm looking for, then I find something important when I wasn't even researching about it.
I handwrite like Sir Greene, but now I'm on my 4th/7 day break to let the rough draft of book that I finished writing sit before typing it down because I'll find myself editing by then.

This morning on the daily stoic, called “What are you fighting for” It just didn’t seem like your normal style. This is a quote from it: “A couple years back, people stormed the United States Capitol because they were angry about losing a free and fair election and tried to invoke the mantle of the Founders. Not only were they wrong and evil…but then they whined like babies when they were maced by officers who really were pledging their lives to defend democracy.“
    Was that you?

Boy, I'm right there with you, @jjwwaco. I'd like to see less political rhetoric from Ryan about what idiots he perceives conservatives to be. I didn't get into trying to live a stoic life to put up with liberals continually crying about Trump. I don't want politics to be a part of my stoicism journey. How about a little less judgment on both sides of the aisle and a little more information about living a stoic life???

As if no justice is due to the life in the womb. It's no trivial thing to give birth, that's for sure. But is there nothing greater than our personal experiences? No Justice? No Good? No salvation in suffering? Is it not a good to sacrifice ourselves, or a moment of our lives, for a whole new life to emerge? I don't understand what the point of stoic ideas even means if we are only concerned about our own personal experiences in this life, and there's nothing beyond.
