Carl, when I started learning guitar at 21 I remember finding your videos on TH-cam. I wanted to learn SRV more than anything. 9 years later, I’m married and having a kid. I can’t wait to show my kid your videos when it’s time! Thanks for all the memories you gave me. They’re invaluable.
@travisbrownie992 he has a bunch of Jimi just look at the old vids. Srv in there too. Srv rips so hard. I don't lump the two together musically at all except they were virtuoso at guit fiddle
Thanks Carl for this great lesson on such a beautiful Hendrix song. This is an excellent extension of your course in the Blues Rock Boot Camp in the Guitar Academy. Can't wait to play and improvise with these chords, fills, etc! Everyone, if you can, join Carl's Guitar Academy and learn how to improvise in the style of Hendrix and learn techniques to help improve your playing!
Carl dude! amazing song choice on this one. Been digging through Hendrix records by ear for the last year or so but so happy to have you teach me this one! Thanks for all the hard work my dude!
Why have I not heard of this song got to do some listening ... thanks sensai love being introduced to new music... holy smoke he has a slide on his hand hmmm looks pretty natural ... now we need Nazareth bad bad boy with that slide lesson lol
Hey Carl will definitely be learning this one. Also teaching us songs that are not note for note is absolutely fine with me since a lot of guitar work you teach especially like chilli peppers, Hendrix, SRV, Van Halen, Eric Johnson, etc have songs where they are never played the same way twice. Even if you just showed us the important melodies or parts then just showed what scale is being used and positions that would be more than acceptable!
So very cool…there is so much guitar in this ! Great stuff,for understanding about it/her…combines so much…Brilliant,what you’ve done,to me,with this vid.!Thank you Mr.Carl Brown!Perfect Teaching!Very perfect to me,to 'cool'down from 'Metal‘,taking a journey of experience!Now got a 'new',home/housework,much…again you gave me much to do,Thanx…hang around again ,a little bit,cool down ,relax,with the great Mr.Jimi Hendrix!What I only can say,it’s perfekt,in my opinion,what you do…,and ,yes ,it must be….all the best 🙏🏻👍🏻🤘🏻
I find this song is much easier to do in a dropped-D tuning (the real recording is in between D and Eb anyway, I believe) so I just do D E- Gmaj7(9) D. It makes the bridge much easier because I have a visceral objection to fretting with my thumb.
Carl, will you tell us please about the reverb and/or delay settings? Also, are you feeling ok? Your voice sounds a little congested. Hope you're well, friend! You've been my go-to for ten years now. I even donated way, way, back in the day!
Hey Carl I’m really enjoying learning from your instruction. I’d really love to see a lesson on Human Nature by Michael Jackson. Steve Lukather’s playing in there has a lot going on and no one has a good instruction video on it. Your style is so much easier to understand than others. Thanks and keep up the amazing work.
Here a question I haven’t seen posted: what is the one pretty chord paying in the intro. of all his lesson videos. I’m guess some type of extended chords 11th or 13th? Can anyone guess?

Definitely a fantastic song by Jimi and one that is hardly taught or talked about. What a great choice to cover Carl. Thank you so much!
Another Classic!! Thanks Carl!!! Come on PEEPS, join the ACADEMY!
Amazing song, thank you so much
I really like how you explain the theory instead of making it note for note.
