Your music theory course I bought is FANTASTIC.Thanks
Flip the guitar upside down so people can see what it looks like learning. Jesus. Flip the tabs too. You want to look down at it not like a crowd member.
Your user interface is the best I've seen over 20 years of looking for guitar tutorials. You not only animate the notes you're playing over the fretboard, you even put your hand on top semitransparent so we can see how dynamically your hand works over the fretboard. Simply fantastic!
The idea to visualize practicing triads in this way is so GREAT, Im glad someone finally figured out to do something like this. This is EXACTLY what i needed.
great to hear. thank you
Yeah this is fucking great. I've been playing since I could hold a guitar, around 30 years now, and understanding exactly what I'm doing still eludes me. This really helps me visualize the neck in a way that opens up so many doors for improvising.
@@PowMusic thank you so much for posting this, really glad TH-cam recommended this video to me
You understand this? What am I missing!? I'm more confused now, than *before* I watched this video.
@@sergedenovo2389I'll try to put it as i understand it. All of the folling concepts are in my view crucial to fully grasp the knowledge shared in the video:
- Note names and their placement on fretboard,
- intervals,
- Scales, blues pentatonic, major, minor (look that the last E chord in the progression is not in the key and is relative to the actual key of the song - Em,
- Scale degree names,
- Triads,
- Triads placement on fretboard (which is the point of this video).
A well-played maple fretboard on a Strat is a beautiful thing
You are setting a high bar for guitar tutorial TH-cam channels. I've played guitar almost 25 years, and I learn so much from these awesome videos. Thanks.
This is an advancement on all other theory+example videos. The format with fretboard ,guitarist and close up of hands on fretboard is the big 3.
Totally. The fretboard diagram is worth a ton. So much better than “ok, put your first finger on the 3rd fret of the b string, then put your fourth finger on the 6th fret etc”. This is so efficient and it immediately works for beginners who need to see the tabs, and advanced players who are just watching hands and using ears. Well done.
Awesome Gary, nice work on this video!
Thank you!
Since starting my guitar journey this is probably the most eye opening lesson regarding triads and and how they sit in scales. Really excited to play around with voicings in each triad set. Appreciate your knowledge and how easy you make it to understand.
I love this format so much, this is how lessons should be. I love grabbing my iPad and sitting down and jamming along , it feels like you’re just sitting around playing with your buddy. I look forward to these every week
Best lesson ever. been playing hey Joe for 30 years. Getting better all the time, Bless you sir. I'm a fan
thank you!
Nice to see someone have the same approach, and everything is clear.
Idk why some people don't like the caged sys, but when you understand they don't consider this sys for the right task.
The caged (maj and don't forget the min third) is the key for understanding and visualizing triads, penta scales then modes, for chords and embellishments, arpegios shapes, voice leading, transpositions, minor relatives, the ambitious side of the blues, and more...
I wasted so much time without it during the 7-8 first years when I started guitar 25 years ago. And it's the most powerful knowledge tool for your compositions.
Also your solos will be better when you consider there are some boxes and blocks beside each others interconnected, it allows you to understand an horizontal approach, a non linear way of doing a scale, find another box, use pieces of the same scale on different boxes...
I have been trying for 50 years to learn music theory so that I could forget music theory and just play.
Now I finally found your triad/Jimi lesson that really helped me to connect these elusive dots.
Thank e Thank e Thank you for posting .
Great to hear - thanks!
Awesome lessons!!
Excellent lesson!
Holy smokes what a lesson.
I've been playing for 30+ years, self taught, (learned before the internet obviously), from time to time i check out instructional vids on youtube whenever i'm bored or want to break out of a rut, i can't believe all the information that exists on youtube and how valuable this is for people taking their playing to the next level. With that being said, I subscribed yesterday, I've watched a couple of your videos and you by far have the best learning and teaching guitar platform on youtube!!! amazing!!!
I agree . I want more .
Your format and delivery is excellent! Fantastic learning resource.
Got so much from this lesson. Thanks a lot.
Brilliant lessons thank you
Wow, this was a good one lesson, thanks.
This is excellent. Well done! Thnx.
This is surprisingly good. 😀. I’ll have a look at your course and Patreon and see what you have.
Those are the chords that make you fall in love with music!!!
Your translucent system is amazing! Subscribed
hermosa version....beatiful version...thank for share
Excellent lesson, explanation, and the graphical representation of what's being played in real time is by far the best I've seen. 😎 Thanks
You are one of my go to youtubers to learn absolutely new techniques to me.
WOW!!! Major lightbulb moment for me today, suddenly the caged system almost makes sense to me, ill watch this again and again and Im sure it will all fall into place. Cant thank you enough.
I am not a "Blues Guy" but I learn so much from your lessons that I was not expecting. This is a good one to learn the 'Circle of Fifths' C-G-D-A-E...
Beautiful tone
this tuition is pure brilliance how you just grabbed
my microscopic attention span is beyond belief, &
you say and do it in the right vernacular, no mystery,
direct to the essence of enlightening a student, ,,,
can i thank you enough ? 🤓👍
Thank you so much!
This is crazy high quality content
Fantastic Lesson
I took the FretLive Fretboard Mastery Program with Gary (Pow Music) some time ago. In my view, this is the best online guitar course out there.
This Lesson changed my Life! Thanks
Good Lesson
Thank You for sharing
Great stuff tons of take always.
Also for an older guy with arthritis learning how to make the sounds
with the least amount of fingers is very helpful.
Can practice longer and get more done.
Thks my Man!!!
Damn!!!!
Im finally starting to understand caged!!!
Never knew it was this easy
THANKS!!
I love hearing AHA moments like this!
This is going to make me play for hours and hours for a couple of weeks. Even in my mind im starting to figure out things when im not playing. A real eye-opener, and i have watched a lot of caged video's. "Play de c in a c schape, then in a A shape and...." that was the moment.
Somehow i never understood that, even when playing these chords and shapes for years. Makes me feel a bit stupid now, hehehehe
Thanks again
Your fretboard visualizations are excellent!
This is my new favorite guitar learning channel I hit the subscribe button.
Loved this.
best teacher in all youtube
Thank you so much Tiago ❤️🎸
I have been playing SRV and some Hendrix pretty well, for long time, you just blew my mind and unlocked new doors especially descending triads. Thank you
Thanks Gary this lesson just made my mind up in becoming a patron. Outstanding!
This is such an amazing explanation. And made the theory I already kinda knew suddenly make total absolute sense. Also really appreciate the visual aspect of it showing on the frets! Would love to see more of these types of videos!
beautiful sound
Great lesson! I've jammed over that chord progression many times but I never appreciated how the licks connected to triads. That was a cool and satisfying thing to discover! I'll be digesting this lesson for a while, but I'd like to see a minor triad lesson. I truly appreciate your work!
Wowww, subscribe. It always looked like magic what he was doing, but you blew my mind.
Still the best guitar channel out there.Thumbs UP
Thank you 🎸🙏
I "kind of" knew and used these things, but could not exactly explain why/how they were working (among other things, the relationship with the pentatonics). Now I have, as you say, a huge playground indeed and know where to go. Huge thanks for this great lesson!
Holy smokes man this is awesome. Best visuals on triads i've seen on here by far. Well done. Subbed.
This is GOLD for me. Never got the hang of Jimi Hendrix for some reason. He is such a unique musician..
This video is edited so well, AWESOME
Exactly what I needed! Thank you
Excellent lesson! Thank you for sharing it with us!
I thought that the Circle of 5ths was a drinking game!!! Lol. Great channel and information.

man you’re the best. I’ve been looking for videos like this since forever. All this playing is about patterns, you give a lot of them in one video
Had a lot of fun with this, I know the shapes but this really helped open up how to use them in a song I know well
This is really great, thanks!
Very nice how to take the visual learning to the extreme
Thanks for excellent explanation and pdf !
One of the best tutorials. Love the animated neck!!
This is really COOL!!! Thank you very much🙏

Very good lesson!
What would you like to see next on the channel? Here are the chapters for this video. I hope you enjoy it.
Also, someone pointed out a mistake at 21:46 - the note on the high E string is a third, not a root note! Thanks @montyp99 .
Happy playing, Gary
