I covered Alex Kidd in Miracle World back in 2017, and it remains my most popular video. Whatever you might think of Alex Kidd, Sega's pre-Sonic mascot must have been pretty popular.
I guess most folks will be familiar with the game from being bundled into the ROM of the Sega Master System II console. It's this version I decided to cover this time around, although the only real difference is Alex is seen eating a hamburger during each round start sequence, a far less healthy-but-more-recognisable foodstuff than the rice ball which featured in the standalone cartridge release.
Hamburger aside, this is the same identical game as before, complete with weird rock-paper-scissors 'Janken' competitions and general weirdness. I also managed to collect the extra life present on stage 1 by destroying the question mark block and releasing the grim reaper enemy, something I missed in my original video.

The OG-Sega-mascot! Great game, but I've never been able to beat it. Somewhere in the middle I run out of lifes.
Master System was never my favourite system but Alex Kidd, Ninja Gaiden and Golden Axe Warrior were really great entries in its library.
I think this soundtrack is literally etched somewhere on my brain.

An incredible game. Such a shame the later games weren't as fun as this.
The other games aren't great, and I think Miracle World is still a little too off-the-wall for my liking. Sega should have doubled down on the platforming and just gotten rid of the weird Janken matches and puzzle elements; the game doesn't know what it wants to be.

Awesome game ! One of the greatest in SEGA library. Alex Kidd should be in some of the next Super Smash Bros games :) He deserves it, because he is one of the mascots of SEGA.
The janken bs and floaty movement in this game used to give me nightmares.
The floating heads with the weird music was creepy as a kid
Fantastic game. I still have it built into my Master System II.
Really difficult though. I could never finish it.
The ending on the original is realy cool

Managed to reach the finale stage... I'never been able to unlock the crown at the very final stage of the game... You must read the paper like japanese... Buy in 1991 no One told me... This game Is One of the hardest game I faced through the years... And One of the most unforgettable and funny... Maybe because I was 10... 😥
I love this game. I remember finding a glitch I think was in stage one in the water. If I punched a certain brick in a particular place it would freeze the game and need to be restarted. You're very good player.

I was about 11 or 12 and had completed it once, no cheats, no help, no internet. When I saw the (disappointing) end, I vowed never to play it again. Until last week, I recently introduced it to my 4 yr old, and he loves playing it. Time to "clock" it again for old time sake. This game was tough

I still thinking that the bosses fights with rock-paper-scissors are kinda lame. Still being a decent puzzle platformer anyway.
