    Might remake this. #2 throttle is stuck to #1, and #3 throttle is stuck to #4 the entire time, when they're all supposed to be moving separately. Works fine when I run it again, so I have no idea why that happened when I recorded 🤦‍♂️

      Japan is a modern 'western' country which applies efficient methods to state problems, and resolves issues which other countries struggle to. They are incredibly resilient and withstand natural factors that might crush other nations. In this instance, Japan very much let themselves down. They certainly cost lives, as their failure to send an adequate time in a timely fashion resulted in deaths. So please explain your comment.

      @@jbonemastaflash6852 Weird comment? What's weird about it? A United States Air Force navigator stationed at Yokota Air Base published an account in 1995 that stated that the U.S. military had monitored the distress calls and prepared a search-and-rescue operation that was aborted at the call of Japanese authorities. A U.S. Air Force C-130 crew was the first to spot the crash site 20 minutes after impact, while it was still daylight, and radioed the location to the Japanese and Yokota Air Base, where an Iroquois helicopter was dispatched. An article in the Pacific Stars and Stripes from 1985 stated that personnel at Yokota were on standby to help with rescue operations, but were never called by the Japanese government.

Spoiler alert: none made it past half the flight time these guys managed.

    I think people from other countries have only heard about this accident from the official announcement. Officially, the accident was caused by a repair error by Boeing. However, in Japan, there is a high probability that this accident is considered an incident rather than an accident. However, the information is controlled by the government and the US military, and some parts of the voice recorder have not yet been released. This story is treated as an open secret in Japan.
    Specify circumstantial evidence.
    supplement
    all engine at 1:44
    To Japanese people, it sounds like Orange Air. In Japanese fighter training, orange floating objects are used to represent the enemy aircraft.
    Comments from the Prime Minister at the time: Even if I die, I won't be able to tell you the truth; I will take it with me to my grave.
    Comments from JAL's vice president at the time - he said he might be killed if he told the truth.
    The deputy attorney general at the time said that if the truth were known, there would be war. It seems that the meaning of the war is not just a war between countries.
    There have been numerous sightings by residents near the accident site that two Japanese fighter jets were following behind JAL Flight 123. However, the Japanese government has made a strange announcement that it has flown fighter jets after the accident.
    There is no way they would fly a fighter jet that cannot carry out rescue operations after an accident.
    Immediately after the accident, a U.S. military helicopter from Yokota Air Base went to help. However, when they arrived at the scene, the Japanese government refused to help. US military helicopters are flying back to Yokota Air Base. Despite this, the accident site has not been identified for over 14 hours (the biggest mystery)
    According to the Japanese rescue team that arrived at the accident scene, the bodies were so charred that it was impossible to tell whether they were male or female. Normally, there should be some part of the body that doesn't burn, such as the back side.
    Aircraft fires were supposed to smell like aviation fuel (similar to kerosene), but the scene was filled with the smell of gasoline and tar. A military flamethrower burns a mixture of gasoline and tar.
    Afterwards, a diver happened to find the vertical tail of JAL Flight 123 in Sagami Bay, but the government said it was over and made no attempt to pull it out.
    90 days later, the Japanese government concluded the worst and most humiliating economic agreement with the United States (the so-called Plaza Accord).To put it simply, the Japanese economy was too strong, so they forced the yen to appreciate. As a result, Japanese export companies were hit hard and many other promises were made in favor of the United States.
    My guess is that Japan could not say anything to the American government, which knew the secrets of the Japanese government, and had no choice but to do as the United States told them.
    After that, the proportion of Boeing passenger planes in Japan suddenly increased.

    • @mojabaka
      @mojabaka 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It was always doomed. They lost all hydraulics which means that you can‘t steer the plane anymore. You can only fly it by adding and removing thrust. It‘s like driving a car without a wheel. It‘s amazing that they even managed to keep it in the air for 30 minutes.

    • @szebike
      @szebike 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think in hindsight, and in methodical theory there could be scenarios in where a somehwat "safer" emergency water landing could have been possible by using the thrusters to steer like they did in the last part and slowly descending while giving the position for naval rescue. But given the fact that it was a real time, life threatening extraordinary event the stress, possible hypoxia, the little knowledge of the exact nature of damage made it impossible they did what they could under this unthinkable situation.

    TH-cam somehow never recommended me this, I've always wondered if someone have tried to recreate the accident flight using the Felis 742. Really glad realizing it was you who also made the recreation with the addon! Your original breakdown of this accident was pretty much the most thorough I've ever seen, and this cockpit version really shows the dire situation in the cockpit and the brave cockpit crew who tried their best in keeping the aircraft flying, even sadly to no avail in the end.
    Also, I think for the next version of the recreation, I'd suggest turning on the in-sim sounds if possible. I'd say the stock sounds of the addon is pretty spot-on, even though there are better ones offered out there!

      Seems you're right, the clock is about two seconds ahead of the noted impact sound on the accident report at the end. I set the timer such that it matched the displayed time in X-Plane at the start of the simulation, which starts at exactly 06:24:00, so it seems the simulation ran very slightly slower than real time. The audio at the start is also about one second too soon, an oversight on my part.
      In any case, I am not a professional in the field of aviation by any means. (I'm a software developer, for the record.) I simply did this out of my own curiosity and decided to share my results publicly.

      I actually used a lua script file for that. I made it so that the needle started turning at a specific time in the simulation, and stopped turning at another time. This used no actual data (since there was none regarding hydraulic system pressure), I simply guessed at how fast the pressure would fall based on when the decompression occurred, and from the comments from the Flight Engineer about the pressure dropping.

      Crash site is in an alpine area after sunset, with tall trees
      Rescue teams were on foot from the surrounding villages, but the crash took place deep in a virgin forest in the mountains.
      There were no well-maintained paths here, and the rescue team had to groped their way through the trees and grass.
      Bottom line: The conditions at the time and place of the crash were the worst possible.
      There were no suitable landing sites nearby.
      Helicopter operations in such conditions increase the risk of the rotor hitting a tree and crashing, so rescue operations are generally not conducted.
      This is no different with today's helicopters, which have improved safety procedures.

    they did not notice the thrust levers was bringing the aircraft to the right
    they put the flaps up, but flaps does give the aircraft lift

      It's a mix. Most of the working gauges (except for the hydraulic gauges), control column, control wheel, and rudder pedal positions, as well as the aircraft's orientation and position are all controlled from data input from the flight data recorder graphs on the accident report. The throttle lever positions are controlled with thrust data from each of the four engines from the report in a linear fashion (so the lever positions may not be completely accurate, but they are tied to real engine data).
      The switches that are flipped, the hydraulic gauges, and the gear/flap lever positions are my interpretation.

    Are you planning to create another non-fictional air disaster simulation based on the actual FDR data or are you doing other things now?

    • @Gohan-chan
      @Gohan-chan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been planning on recreating the Columbia Disaster, which also has telemetry graphs of the orientation and flight path in the accident report. I've just been busy with life-related stuff mostly.

    Did the pilots ever realize that the rudder is ineffective?

    • @Gohan-chan
      @Gohan-chan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I would imagine they must have thought something was quite wrong with it because of the Dutch roll. However, as they never spoke of it, one can only speculate whether they realized it or not.
