I dare say that any other top teams right now would be, at best, a lateral move.
I agree with Simon, since joining City he has become a very predictable player probably because Pep gives him no freedom. Doku offers a lot more going forward.
The facts of the matter are this, is jack grealish the best fit for man city under guardiola in comparison to other players in his position? No. On the flip side, could Phil Foden, jeremy doku, riyad mahrez or bernardo silva have been in that Villa team in the championship and single handedly got them promoted and then single handedly saved them from going down? Also No. So far that stand point, judge the player as you see fit ...
Let’s get it right jack is extremely talented and is a top player everyone forgets how highly he was rated when he was at Villa, unfortunately the system he plays in doesn’t highlight his game the same way it did at Villa
Prior to city, he never played under pressure at villa. He could do whatever he wanted, other players worked hard for him. At city, you have to be Messi or at least KDB level talent to be afforded that type of freedom. There are at least 5 better players than Grealish at man city so he’s never going to get that freedom
@@ladi278 to say he never had pressure at Villa is just untrue, he carried the team on his back and was relied upon every single game to create or win the game
@@kaneharris3971 it’s not pressure at the same level when you are not expected to win every game. Let me put it this way, if jack played poorly for 5 games in a row at villa back then, he’d still be guaranteed to start. Not at city. You’ll be on the bench. I think it’s wild that some think pep coached the flair out of him and that pep tells him not to dribble. The issue is he’s not explosive from a standing start so he can’t get past his man. That’s why he always passes it back. Jeremy doku on the other hand consistently dribbles past his man and pep always praises him for dribbling. Maybe if Jack had a free role to move anywhere on the pitch he sees fit, maybe he’d look better. But there are at least 3 better players at city (foden, KDB, Bernardo) who would get that free role before jack
@@ladi278 So the pressure of being the guy that needs to win you the game, every single time, is less pressure than being in a team that wins every game without you anyway? That’s just not true. There’s pressure on him to perform and try keep his place but that doesn’t compare to the pressure of if he didn’t perform at Villa then odds are you’d lose the game. Now He plays in a system that doesn’t highlight the a lot of the qualities he was praised for at Villa but pep knows how good he is at maintaining possession and uses jack in a very specific role that’s why he’s criticised now. And jack never relied on being explosive from a standing start, he’s never been blessed with pace. Jack came deep to pick up the ball and would then turn and run, he used footwork and technique to get passed defenders never pace just pure technique, I agree if he had a free role he’d look a lot better but yeah he won’t get that role in the city team.
And this is why people need to realise that stats are only a part of the story. I’m a season ticket holder at cit and have seen nearly every good and bad moment in the flesh since 1998 so I’m qualified to speak when I say that the majority of fans, despite them statistics, would rather have Jack than Raheem. Why, because Raz was all about himself. Happy for himself, sad for himself. It was never about the team for him. With Jack, it’s the polar opposite. He will do everything he can to do what the team needs of him. Doesn’t always get it right, is patchy in the respect, but never stops trying to be his best for the team. Raz also played in a team that for significant periods didn’t have a striker. Kun was still there but injured a lot and pep player often without a 9. What that meant was the goals and assists were much more spread around the team, hence sterling scoring a lot, more often than not tap ins from a few yards out. Jack is playing in a team that has the world’s most lethal striker. So the ask of him is different. He could get more assists but he is often a big part of a move that ends up in a goal but he doesn’t get a ‘stat’ for that. Most fans felt almost glad when Raz left for Chelsea and predicted he would struggle outside of the city team, that’s exactly what happened. Most of us love Jack and would be gutted to see him leave. Stats don’t tell the whole story no matter or you dress them up
Nailed it! If you actually watch a full 90 and use the eye test, there's no denying Grealish's skill, technical ability, creativity, and ability to draw multiple players out of position. There aren't many players in today's game that offer what Jack does. Especially now where kids are forced to systems and shunned for showing creativity and taking risks. We saw first hand last season how badly they missed him out on the left when he was injured and were forced to play Doku week in, week out. The people who downplay his overall talent as a footballer have an agenda against him or don't know ball. You can't sit there with a straight face and say you're a football fan if you don't like Grealish.
@@alone2break Grealish is at his best when he's got the freedom to roam and is able to run into open space. Having him hug the touchline and stay out wide is handicapping what he can offer to the attack. Especially now that KDBs legs are gone, they need someone to step in to be that creative spark and has the engine to run up and down the pitch.
Give jack a break . His levels haven't been there but if he is shown the beleaf he will shine again . I have seen him go past 5 players for villa that's what he has . So don't rite him off yet .
Come on Gabby, I'm a villa fan and I know grealish is a piss head and was not playing last season. Pep will not give two hoots about his career as he's not Spanish.
Haters gonna hate. He had more freedom at Villa but made sacfrices to get into City's XI and win trophies under Pep's systeam. Wtf else do these arm chair analysts want??? His been nothing but a team player and takes the bench when Pep wants to play others with zero complaints.
Stats don't tell a story. People now would say Giggs wasn't incredible because his stats weren't 30 goals a season. People add to a game in other ways.
Gabby is TOO biased to Villa and former Villa players, or anybody who is a fellow Brummie. lool. Some of the criticism was warranted though. he did break lockdown when telling people a few days before to stay safe! Tbf, Jack's indiscretions aren't that bad in the grand scheme. Hardly Johnson levels.
Why have we on occasions in men’s football mostly gay females commenting on a game but when it’s a female ( stroke) ladies game it’s very rare a male is brought onto the pitch or studio to commentate
Pep coached greslishes dribbling out of him . Under pep you cant lose the ball . If you do you get yelled at so eventually you stop dribbling. Doku will have the same problem in two years
Before the treble, City's proudest moment under Pep was the 'Centurion' season (2017/18). In the Centurion season, City averaged 71% possession, with Sterling playing 33 league games and contributing 18 goals/11 assists. In the treble-winning year (2022/23), City averaged 65% possession, with Grealish playing 28 league games and contributing 5 goals/7 assists. Sterling played in a City side that kept the ball better than the treble-winning side, had a record 32 league wins and amassed 100 points...and Sterling demonstrably contributed more to that Centurion side than Grealish did to the treble-winning one.
Yeah. I don’t mind Jack but he absolutely needs to increase his production as even Pep has come out in press conferences saying he wants more from Jack. Hope he’s able to step it up this season

Gobby sticking up for his Villa mate 🙄
Stats don’t tell the whole story no matter or you dress them up
😂
You should've written a book for Stockport.
You can't sit there with a straight face and say you're a football fan if you don't like Grealish.
i want grealish to play in the middle as kdb rotation.. leave the wing to doku, bobb , bernardo and savio
Grealish would awesome for a Fulham but he is a squad player at city
Fact v emotion
Give jack a break . His levels haven't been there but if he is shown the beleaf he will shine again . I have seen him go past 5 players for villa that's what he has . So don't rite him off yet .
Jumbo Juggs? Not me mate.
Simon says “I judge him on the here and now” but also judges him for actions when he was 17/18 🤔🤷♂️😂
Simon jordan 100% right
Grealish coulda been the new ‘Agbonlahor’ if he’d of stayed at Villa.
Rumour has it, he still cries himself to sleep each night
Fact has it he won everything at city 😂 if you're hearing crying sounds probably coming from you.
I was taking a pop at Gabby, not Grealish 😂
Did you know Grealish got a huge attractive offer from Saudi team called: Al Cohol 😛
Come on Gabby, I'm a villa fan and I know grealish is a piss head and was not playing last season. Pep will not give two hoots about his career as he's not Spanish.
Should have never left Villa as it's ruined him as the creative, exciting player he was but I guess he has won some 🏆*s so he will be happy.
Sir Simon Jordan = Top Lad Proper Clobber
Still waiting for Pep to play jack as a free 8 in the left side, he's gonna cook there
Haters gonna hate. He had more freedom at Villa but made sacfrices to get into City's XI and win trophies under Pep's systeam. Wtf else do these arm chair analysts want??? His been nothing but a team player and takes the bench when Pep wants to play others with zero complaints.
Grealish had a worse season than rashford but Gabby still defends him 😅
Stats don't tell a story. People now would say Giggs wasn't incredible because his stats weren't 30 goals a season.
People add to a game in other ways.
Well, in a sport where goals literally win games, stats for attacking players do tell at least part of the season.
Stop yapping giggs did score goals, beat his man and get assists. Im sorry but jack has not got more than 15 goals in three season at man city .
Jack is 💩 done nothing since playing for City
Welcome back Simon
Who cares if he’s a good person it’s not about that no one else gets that treatment
Can't take gabby seriously
Grealish is just a good player no special effects
Are the media too heavy on Grealish?
Proceeds on to the debate 🤣
Gabby is TOO biased to Villa and former Villa players, or anybody who is a fellow Brummie. lool. Some of the criticism was warranted though. he did break lockdown when telling people a few days before to stay safe! Tbf, Jack's indiscretions aren't that bad in the grand scheme. Hardly Johnson levels.
Im struggling to think of any truelly world class player in the Prem.
De Bruyne
Rodri
Alisson
Thats it for me.
Unfair treatment? He cost more than Pogba and hasn't even produced 1/10th of what Pogba did and gets nowhere near the same criticism 😂
SHOCK!!!
Why have we on occasions in men’s football mostly gay females commenting on a game but when it’s a female ( stroke) ladies game it’s very rare a male is brought onto the pitch or studio to commentate
Anyone that comes from Villa Gabby will always defend…
Pep coached greslishes dribbling out of him . Under pep you cant lose the ball . If you do you get yelled at so eventually you stop dribbling. Doku will have the same problem in two years
Gabby trolls Antony but he always has a good word for his alcoholic mate
If he would stop flopping about trying to get a free kick he might get more respect. He is not someone kids should look up to
Before the treble, City's proudest moment under Pep was the 'Centurion' season (2017/18).
Disgraced club.
