My vote is the vid made the refund possible.. If that vid wasnt out there IMHO they 99.99% would have told the customer its not our problem. The internet is a powerful tool.
I bought a 65 big block Corvette from Streetside about four years ago. It was a frame off restoration. The chassis was spotless and it looked like the car had not been driven at all. They said it was a recent restoration. The first thing that made me wonder was the fact that the Cooper Cobra tires were ten years old but had no wear. I later discovered that all the VBP (who went out of business years ago) suspension bushings were rotted. The brake calipers were leaking. The brake booster leaked vacuum. The Vintage Air needed a need evaporator. The oil pan leaked. The electric fan was not wired properly and the engine over heated. I came to the conclusion that whoever restored the car never drove it and parts deteriorated over the course of ten years from just sitting. Of course I discovered all these problems over the course of months and had no recourse with Streetside. Since they are just a consignment operation I doubt they know anything about the cars they sell beyond what they are told by the seller.
You did the right thing. Whether or not the company would have offered a refund without the video is debatable but the fact is you made one and your client was made whole. The customer should be so thankful to you. Hell, I'm proud of you. Kiwi for the W!!!
Tony and Kiwi are my heroes! You guys held a "Big Box" classic car outfit to account! It's been a long time coming. And bravo for Streetside for doing the right thing! Ah, the power of social media...Good going Kiwi! I can tell you feel bad about the video's release, but you'll feel better about it soon!
They knew exactly what they were selling, and they only bought it back to save face. Someone else will get scammed and stuck with it. Don't apologize, especially not for somebody else's 'mistake' noticed they sent a tow truck, knowing it was unsafe for the road. They absolutely knew it was hot garbage, and gladly charged or accepted ten times what it should have sold for.
It was entirely their fault. You mean to tell me that they put vehicles on consignment and don't even look them over to see what they're selling? They bragged it up in their listing to gt more money, that tells me it's all about the end dollar for them. I'm glad Tony released it and showed them for what they do.... after reading the comments, they've done this to other people as well, and I feel the only reason they stepped up is because of Tony's video. Don't be mad at him. He saved the day my opinion.

Hard to say the real reason they got their money back but thanks to you mate for helping them out.
Proud to see that the dealership stepped up. Disappointed that Tony wouldn't keep his word about waiting to release until the customer gave them the chance to handle it. My buddies used to have me go with them when looking to purchase a classic or muscle car. Sometimes even private owners didn't know what a shitbox they were selling. I got thrown off many car lots. Lol With that being said, I also saw some pretty nice cars on the lots. It really is a crap shoot if you're not knowledgeable! Good going Kiwi, it doesn't matter, You ,Tony, Dr Art, your hearts are in the right place, that's what matters! Kudos 👍
Good to see this came to a decent resolve. In a way I am glad I hung up my wrenches (for the most part). My classic is a 2015 RX350. No mods required LOL
Im still glad I was able to show my wife how lucky we are with our 67 Fastback. That car needs a lot of fixes to repair nonsense installation of great parts. Even my stock 289 4V had the torque to pull on those factory shock towers. Mine were repaired on a frame machine and reenforced welded, but it shows that support is needed! Soon, my shock towers go away, too....
This sounds like an apology tour for Streetside classics?? WTF??? They knew damn right when they sold that car that it was messed up. No business is going to take a car into their inventory without looking it over and if you both(Kiwi and Tony) found those faults so did they. That customer is ungreatful and owes alot of thanks and money to you both for posting that video.

Kiwi, good video, it’s not hard to tell that your a genuine guy and only want what’s best for the customer, been watching you from up here in Canada for months and will continue to do so.
New subscriber here. I hope the classic car dealer uses your video as THE restoration repair standard for the ‘66 and corrects all existing problems with that Mustang before it’s sold to the next owner! These shop videos should be THE restoration standard for all classic cars!
First class video. Good to see a good outcome here and Streetside should be commended for doing the right thing. When buying ANY used car it should be checked out. There are a many "flippers" in the private market also. Lots of them. In most states private transactions are as/is, buyer beware. Zero recourse for the consumer. There are laws to protect the consumer when buying from a dealership. Just thought that should be said. And you're 100% correct that we should all watch out for each other. These cars are OLD. They all need some sort of work on any given day. Even a fresh 100% restored car is a tinker toy and never truly "done". They are only new once. You're truly a class act and I wish I were closer just to come by and shake your hand. Keep at it.
Mate you did the right thing ,some folks life savings are on the line. Call them all out .Get the vehicle check out by a pro ,a couple of hundred bucks can save you thousands..Love your channel..
UT rubs me the wrong way, but I enjoy the videos of you two inspecting these cars. It brought me to your channel as well. We all have friends/relationships that bite us in the ass once in a while. I hope you two patch things up. Just be more cautious with him.
Kiwi, whatever the case, it turned out well. I can tell you this, if I ever find a another vintage car locally that I want to buy, an inspection will come first. There is too much of this type of thing occurring in the hobby. Thanks for what you do!
I watched the original, i dont recall the customer being named at all. I believe in the benefit of the doubt the 1st time, I agree that we should always try and find a remedy first before drastic actions. Kudos to Street Side for doing the right thing THIS time, hopefully lesson learned and they'll be more diligent in the future. Hope everyone has a good holiday and lets not forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Bless you all and your loved ones, thank you
Poor bloke over here in Oz mate bought himself what he thought was a really nice 70 Road Runner. Looked great until he noticed the seams were missing from inside the door jams. Took it to a very good car builder who inspected it and then told him the whole car needs panels because every panel was nearly an inch of bog and that it's just a Satellite.
Absolutely 💯 it is ! These internet classic car dealerships don't give a shit about ppl ! It's all about making money for them. They knew that car was a pig with lipstick on it ! My question is, how many ppl has that business burned ... 🤔
Could not agree more!! Somebody's dream car and life aspiration could be a maintenance nightmare or an unsellable death trap. Far too many people buy with their eyes first. This car needs everything just to begin approaching sellable, safe, and usable.
Let's say your theory is true and that the video that UTG put out is the only reason the dealer did the right thing. Of course, we'll never know because the dealer never got a chance in the first place, but let's just assume that's the case......... Why put the video back up? The dealer did the right thing, the customer got a full refund, and everyone is happy and going their separate ways. If the video made the dealer fold, why continue bashing them after they did the right thing? Aren't we supposed to REWARD good behavior? Because UTG isn't interested in a happy ending. UTG is interested in controversy, drama, and most of all, VIEWS. Why? Because more views means HE makes money off of the situation. If the video isn't up, he's not making any money from it. Kiwi specifically instructed UTG to NOT release the video until the customer talked to the dealer. That's because the customer had all the leverage against the dealer with the threat of exposure if they didn't give him a full refund. UTG threw that leverage out the window, along with his word to Kiwi, for what? So that UTG could make the money off of someone else's misfortune. UTG could care less if the customer got his money back, and this situation proves that. Let's be real. UTG has zero automotive skills or talent. His channel revolves around him ranting and tinkering around with junk. He gravitates to people like Kiwi because Kiwi actually has REAL skills and talent, and UTG likes to hang around to appear to rub elbows with professionals, all while sucking content from them like a vampire. Kiwi is just the latest person in a LONG line of people who have appeared on UTG's channel, used for content, and then promptly stabbed in the back. UTG would sell out his own mother if it meant he got a couple pennies to rub together.
Kev, mate you did the absolute right thing. That car was a mess. Best outcome would be the owner of that car should pay you to build him a car or get you to check over his next purchase.
Either way, good work on the vid that was showing the faults with that car. And I guess well done to Street Classics....begrudgingly. I wouldn't lose sleep over it all. Like the channel mate.

I had inspections done on 2 vehicles I was interested in . 1st one saved me thousands in body & mechanicals which I passed up on, the 2nd. I have now. Worth the $500.00 per inspection as it was coming down under. Still spent thousands but my mods now !
Drat. I missed the opportunity to see that driveline on that car. I was so looking forward to that. They jacked the motor up 4 inches to clear the mustang II front crossmember. It had to be a great laugh just to see the drive angle setting at 30 degrees at the transmission.
I hope that if any lessons are to be learned here that ALL PARTIES are going to move forward in a positive direction and that no one suffers any unnecessary negative consequences.
Never apologize for your professional opinion; there is a reason people bring their cars to you for evaluation and repair. If Streetside would have inspected the car, they would have found exactly what you found!
You did the right thing by exposing the scam about that little car. I'm not a license mechanic by no means, but I believe in doing the job right and not trying to rip somebody off. That's BS what they did. In my opinion, they knew that car was that way and sold it anyway to some unsuspecting person.
Thanks to Uncle Tony that car is now unsaleable (at least in that colour!) If everyone had kept quiet, the car would just have been sold to another sucker.
I did a 57 Bel Air for a guy a few years ago and told him right off, the cost of what you want will exceed the actual value of car, and if I had been with him he wouldn't have bought it! Paid 30k for a car worth maybe 10k. His words were, I'm not selling it, just do it. I have no problem with that, but I see so many get too deep in a project they should have avoided. Glad the owner was taken care of with this Mustang. ✌️
Yep..outcome came out ok... Done a couple 67 Camaro's for customers... upfront at all times and fairly close final estimate on costs. Both customers said "do it ". Weekly updates on progress and costs kept everybody happy. Still... cars ended up costing twice what they were worth. Anyway.... keep the shiny side up Kiwi !
Ask any Attorney. Anyone/company putting themselves out there as professionals in the area of what they are selling is in part liable. Dealt with this in the remodeling world for years. We go after em. With an entire group of people. Companies like this need to go under.
Well perhaps the best advice is to have any used vehicle safety inspected before purchase. I've heard you say that before and honstly it's the best advice if the purchaser knows very little/nothing or can't do it themselves.
Best outcome for the customer. Hopefully they will address the issues before putting it back up for sale. Good to see they actually stepped up and took responsibility and gave them a refund. He's a disgrace. Using sick children like that to bolster subs on his and other people's channels. All 3 of them are bottom feeders.
Kiwi is a stand up damn good person. Idk why he still connects himself with that turd burglar.
I have a friend that makes me really mad sometimes, but at the end of the day he's well meaning.
Mr Kiwi
You and Uncle Tony did a great service..
I understand your feelings on the video being put on You Tube.
Your Man of integrity and you keep your word.
However most importantly in the big picture it was Morally the right thing do to have that Video posted.
You might have saved lives and peoples savings.
There is no way !!!! they would have bought that Car without that Video.
Thank You for your honesty and sharing your vast knowledge.
This isn't about what they would or would not have done.
This is about the promise Kiwi made to his customer, FULL STOP.
If you give an "associate" the opportunity, they must respect the above - End of story.
Kiwi was thrown under he bus, but his diplomacy saved face overall, so well done mate!
Thanks bud!!
If this never hit the internet, he'd still own that death trap
You may be right there and that would have been the time to post it.
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 very possibly, obviously I don't know the whole story, but as they say, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Happy ending! Good to see one for a change.
yes it really is!!
Good result and I doubt anyone questions your sincerity 👍
Thanks man!
My vote is the vid made the refund possible.. If that vid wasnt out there IMHO they 99.99% would have told the customer its not our problem. The internet is a powerful tool.
Kiwi, you did the right thing exposing a crook! i'll bet that customer really appreciates what you did,
I hope so!
Kiwi, you are a man of integrity, that shows here, and it counts.
You did the right thing. Whether or not the company would have offered a refund without the video is debatable but the fact is you made one and your client was made whole. The customer should be so thankful to you. Hell, I'm proud of you. Kiwi for the W!!!
Fine job Kiwi, you are a good and honorable man..........Jay
Thanks man, means a lot!
I agree.
Cheers mate!!
The car, as it is, might be worth $10k, not the $38k they got for it. I'd pay $10k then fix all that's wrong, myself.
I came across this channel after watching UT & I passed your YT channel on to a few ppl now because of that video . I'm glad to see that you helped your customer get his 💸 hack ! IMO I think that video will bring you more business & it's great to see 2 old school REAL mechanics show people & educate them on classic cars . You & UT 👍 !
Never feel guilty for stating facts! You and Tony are a perfect combination to tell the truth about all this shait going on in this "industrie" of ripping people off!
My only guilt is for letting my customer down by misjudging and trusting a friend to stick to his word.
UTG’s theme song is a modified version of “Another one bites the dust “ …..his version is “Another one under the bus”
Well done mate for being honest about the situation.
I would expect no less from a mate from across the Tasman.
Keep up the good work, reputation is everything.
Cheers from Australia.
Cheers mate !!
That first video was a proper call out, just as this video was a proper update. No worries.
Dont fret Kiwi....you did the right thing...
Wow, that's shocking! Good for them. You're a class act Kiwi.
Thanks man!!
Kiwi, the power of the internet, works both ways, yes the video was released, even though you had given your word, but at the same time, the company that sold the car , stepped up to the plate and helped the customer. I know your guts would have been in a knot, but it came out for the best. Keep it up mate, love your work. Currently in Alabama for work them Texas before heading home to Oz. Hope to see some classics out on the rd. Take care
Good job Kiwi,
Keep up the good work>
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
Kiwi, you are a class act all day long. Thanks for takin' us along...
Thanks man!!
Thank God there are good people out there such as yourself who want to help other people out when it comes to "OLD CARS". Getting an inspection done BEFORE you buy a vehicle could be the difference between, getting in the hobby or totally avoiding it! Hard to say the real reason they got their money back but thanks to you mate for helping them out.
Thanks man, it's worked out for my customer which I'm happy about. Sad that a long friendship is the casualty in this......
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160hopefully like sheet metal that friendship can be hammered out
Proud to see that the dealership stepped up. Disappointed that Tony wouldn't keep his word about waiting to release until the customer gave them the chance to handle it. This wasn't an emergency that warranted breaking his word to save a life or something. It easily could have waited. I often have videos shelved for months for various reasons where I can't release at a certain time. Its not a big deal.
Exactly! Unfortunately money is a great motivator
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 I did see on his channel where Tony said he wasn’t told not to put the video up until you gave the ok. Maybe he just wasn’t listening as I know I often tell customers something and then later they are like no you didn’t tell me that and I am like oh yes I did and you even said ok. Excited people often fail to pay attention.
@@bcbloc02 that's just a bare faced lie!! I even checked with Dr Art who was there at the time of filming to make sure I hadn't been vague or ambiguous when I said we had to wait till we got the go ahead from the customer. His response was that I'd made it very clear!!
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 well sounds like Tony was totally in the wrong then and even worse he tells people he was not. That is a double shame on him.
Its rare to see this happen but very happy to see it. Thank you for your honesty to the customer and your viewers, have a great Memorial weekend
It only happened because Uncle Tony’s video got 100k+ views. Sometimes you have to be an a-hole.
Great result Chris. Excellent way to handle the problem and very classy. Keep up the good work. JohnB.
Thanks, will do!
Good video Kiwi. Good outcome!
Good on you and uncle Tony called out a bad deal and fraud
I doubt the dealer would have done it with out the bad reviews
Agree that video saved this person a lot of cash !
Love your t-shirt! You are the real deal, thanks for your excellent channel!
Don't apologize no need for that, you were just being honest. A lost art,
Ty
Thanks man!
you are a good guy, good advice.
Thanks man!
You and UTG did a great service for the owner of that car. I hope you two can iron things out and keep bringing us great videos. We need more people out there like you and Tony to keep "flipper thievery" under control. Kudos to you both!
Kiwi you have nothing to regret. You did the right thing all around. I suspect that the buyer would be stuck with this thing if not for your efforts. I do believe that you are one of the most reputable professionals in the industry. It shows in how you present the cars and your work in your videos
You’re a lot more “formal” than Tony and I appreciate that. TH-cam can make people do things for views but at the end of the day you’re both knowledgeable, honorable guys. It worked out well for the unknowing customer. 😎👌🏼
Kiwi, I'm self-employed as well. Customer trust and confidentiality is #1. If Tony broke your trust and, request to hold off on posting then that's on him. Unfortunately, that puts the responsibility of the breech on you. None of us know the details and shouldn't. Hopefully you can build trust if lost back with your client. The buyer and seller should have had a chance to resolve the purchase issues first. If there was no positive outcome, then post the video with your client's consent.
Honesty is the best policy.. an honesty right up front.. is best
Ur an honorable man Kiwi , it shows . Most of us kno EXACTLY what went on (And why) Hopefully so do those involved keep up the good work. Uv been the preference for a while now. Cheers
Cheers mate!
Getting caught selling something unsafe and cutting corners to make top dollar is not doing the right thing.....How many cars have they sold or will sell that people will just eat the loss....If they were honest and up front, they wouldnt have put themselves in this situation..We need more people like you..
Customer is lucky that he brought the car to you, & it's a great opportunity for the dealer to redeem themselves, & thus doing so will build a great reputation!!!
It's just win,win,win all around!
Kudos 👍
You're a good buddy!! You saved them thousands !!
Nice!!!
I signed lots of certs for dealers who sold cars before they were inspected... it was nice and shiny so must be ok.
I have big respect for you kiwi. Glad they gave him his money back.
Thanks man!
No way they do the right thing without video evidence on TH-cam
That’s great news that the poor customer got his money back and another unsafe car is hopefully going to get fixed. You’re a stand up guy Kiwi.
Thanks man!!
I feel for you...Kiwi....you being a honest man you hurt.....but remember you did not sell the car to your customer.....you were hired by the buyer to inspect the mustang....hold your head high....you are greatly admired and respected....Fan from British Columbia,Canada.....
That would be good!!! It's expensive to do it well though.......
A better (and more economic) outcome would be to dismantle it and sell the parts.
Unfortunately that car will get stamped Return to Sender and will be on marketplace in a month
@@fixinonitgarage I hope you're wrong bud.....
@@fixinonitgarage Not if the consignor has their money. Streetside will just send it to auction, where it will be bought by another crook.
Nice Job For Being Honest, I Commend You !!!
Great outcome.
Keep at it.
Stop by any time sir!
Good for you speaking up for people.
Cheers mate!
Hopefully and I will be.
Don't worry. its apparent you're a stand up guy and true professional at your work.i will leave it at that without getting into the other stuff.
That’s awesome great work you guys that’s one happy owner cheers 🙌
Kiwi, whatever the case, it turned out well. I can tell you this, if I ever find a another vintage car locally that I want to buy, an inspection will come first. There is too much of this type of thing occurring in the hobby. Thanks for what you do!
You rock
Even if UTG paused...it had to be shown at some point.
Agreed
That seatbelt job escalated quickly!! Good job guys!
Kiwi, you can only look as good as the company you keep. ;-) Good to hear it all worked out.
🚌
🥝
Sooner or later it comes for everyone!!
It worked out well for the customer you helped avert a disaster nice job
Don't get mad at Tony, that video is most likely WHY your customer got ALL his money back.
Yup. 110%.
@@classicreaction5340 So you're tellin me you're not a big UTG fan...
Kev, mate you did the absolute right thing. That car was a mess. Best outcome would be the owner of that car should pay you to build him a car or get you to check over his next purchase.
I've promised him a free inspection on his next prospective purchase.
Either way, good work on the vid that was showing the faults with that car. And I guess well done to Street Classics....begrudgingly. I wouldn't lose sleep over it all. Like the channel mate.
Thanks man, sleep you can catch up on.👍
The video's still up on Tony's channel. That's where I saw the original issues first.
It's ok that it is now. But as they say "timing is everything! "

@@Russeljfinch”Upset at your client”? What are you smoking?

The only people that should feel bad is tze people who put that car up for sale without full disclosure.
I wanted to see your video on the problems underneath, but too late I suppose. Good on SSC for stepping up, but I wonder what they will do with the car next.
I saw the car yesterday at Streetside. Cant believe that throttle linkage!
Yeah the vibrations were going to be epic
What happened to the video that was supposed to be posted showing underneath the car while it was up on a rack?
Good outome, for sure. Certainly highlights the need for a careful inspection. Hope you and UT can mend your friendship, though.
I hope that if any lessons are to be learned here that ALL PARTIES are going to move forward in a positive direction and that no one suffers any unnecessary negative consequences.
My negative consequence is losing a friend.....
Never apologize for your professional opinion; there is a reason people bring their cars to you for evaluation and repair. If Streetside would have inspected the car, they would have found exactly what you found!
Your video, tells me what I already suspected. You’re a good man Kiwi. Cheers mate, I'll tip my next bourbon to you.
Cheers mate!!
Me too!!
@@JimSampson-y6v cheers mate. You too!
Kiwi's shop and it should have been Kiwi's way. Tony knew this would draw attention and was after the payday...and got it.
Thanks for making it happen bud, shit like this is giving the classic car industry a terrible name. Classic car industry better be careful during these times before the government steps in and regulates it even more... they are looking for a reason to remove them from the road anyway along with all the shops that specialize in classics because we are killing the entire world 😂
