I am loving those uses, very cool looking.always thought it was a shame Vauxhall in the UK did not build something similar .thanks for showing them.enjoy your holiday in nz.
As an American, I've never seen a Holden in person. But even I was sad to hear about it going away. The cars they made were just awesome. I don't know how well I would do in a right hand drive car. But I would love to have an old Holden. Monaro, Commodore, a Ute, whatever. I don't know much about them. But every one I've seen looks like something I would like. By the way, if that's a shed, then I live in a mansion 😂. My shed is barely big enough for my lawnmower. I want a shed like that
I have dreamed of moving to New Zealand for over 35 years..... (now more than ever). The entire country is stunning. Thanks for the wonderful content Chris. Have a safe flight back to the States. ☮️ on 🌎
Yes! I was staring at it and thinking what does it look like, why does it look familiar?? Yep- it's a crossbred, auto breastfed, not inbred, car thingamathingy.
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 Not even contemplating it yet. Got a few days off next week, so I'll start carefully picking the donor one off. Can't go damaging that now 😖
Hi Kiwi, maybe you could explain Holdens 253 and 308 engines for your American viewers. The LS Monaro was like a Premier coupe so it got the twin headlight front like the Premiers. The GTS was a sports model based off the Kingswood. See if you can find a nice XA-XC two door hardtop while you’re back home.
253 308 aka Plastic Fantastic was reputedly based on a Pontiac Forklift engine. Though really a clean sheet of paper. They are lighter than a Chev and not as strong, hence the Plastic Fantastic moniker. Huge appetite for cams and lifters totally stock. Heads are poor as is the valve size. 253 is an econo engine with a 2bbl. 308 with Q jet was far better and go ok stock until they eat a cam, burn or break a piston and on occasion eat up bearings as well. Oh and headgaskets too are suspect.
@ thanks mate, you saved Kiwi the trouble. Despite those limitations people have built some pretty stout engines. I always regarded them as too small, one of many reasons I’m a Ford and Pontiac guy.
253 was the base model V8, 308 was the next level and top of the range was the 350 in the HQ series. Monaro models where LS, SS and GTS available is 4 door or coupe versions.
Hey Kiwi, wouldn't be a bad idea doing a bit of showcase on Monaros including the earlier ones and a bit of history on how they came to be, seems everyone is pretty interested in the design vs the US models, at the end of the day they probably did have designing cues from the Pontiacs and Chevs etc ?
Tridents and Eagers are now world famous! Definitely 14x8, 245/50. Rear indicator lenses are the wrong way around, red reflector should be to the outside! 👍
Well done Kiwi , how's about tracking down a couple of Chrysler Valiant Chargers ? , a 265 HEMI6 and a 360 would be cool Merry Christmas mate from Australia ( ex KIWI ) .
Lovely old cars mate BUT the LS did not get the 350 cu,, ls was the luxury coupe and not regarded as a Monaro,, The 350 chev was limited to the 2 door and 4 door HQ Monaro,,,
I’m envious of your mate’s shed and equipment!😃 Way cool 😎

Nice to see a few classic cars in the family and people smiling….. that’s a great life 😎
Engine options where 350 chev 308 253 Holden V8s and 202 six
You could probably get a 173 if you were a real tightarse!
@ yeah in a Belmont coupe 3 on the tree
They look awesome on the road

What a set up all right!
Cool, showing us something different. Great adventure!!
Double headlights were LS, as they were a two door Premier, which also had dual headlights. But the fronts easily interchange on all the HQ models.

Thanks for sharing kiwi!!!👍👍👍👍👍
The Holden cars, are so cool!
HQ GTS Monaro also came with an optional 350 in Australia, not sure if it was an option in NZ.
They have a really nice place. It's interesting to see how different car things are
in other countries, but also how much they are the same...
Great video Kiwi. love the cars. Have a Marry Christmas mate. 👍
Nice shed!👍
My hometown…welcome home kiwi
Hmm... VERY interesting.
Even the New Zealand dog walks on the opposite side!
Mr. B. Here ! ☕️👀😎👍 : So far the cars you have show case unbelievable & very good looking cars ! 🌲🎅🏼🧑🎄🥃
Mr 🐝!!
Kinda looks like an impala slept with a barracuda.
😂
🤔🤔😁😎
Very much Pontiac inspired.

As a Yank, I can't hear the word ute without thinking of the court scene in My Cousin Vinnie.
You can't ignore the Pontiac influence in the rear end design, especially when following one on the road.

My father was looking for a family car in the late 70's
He bought a 71 XY Falcon wagon. Did look at HQs but even then they were very rusty.
I'd be hard-pressed to return home if I was down there!!
$12 a gallon for gas .....
Good job Kiwi. I think holden made Toranas’s on the assembly line in the 1970s. I wonder if they made any Monaros…….
Just double checked with a friend, he says around 400 , 350 Muncie GTS coupes& about the same for the LS 350 auto coupes.
The Holdens featured here remind me of the Chevelle and El Camino vehicles. Both are related and can swap parts.
Yes!! Exactly right sir !
GTS sedans/coupes and LS coupes all had the 350 as an option in Australia.

Today was first time I've noticed difference between ute and 1 tonner B pillars.

Thanks enjoy your content always informative and interesting.
Are you heading up for the Meguires Coffee and Classics at Ellerslie this weekend?
Yes!! Taking the Mustang. Come say Hi!!
@
Great look forward to a catch up and say Hi I’ll be there with my Monaro.
Mighty monaro cool shed Chris brother you will be loving being home for a bit checking everything out
Now I’d resto mod that Monaro 😉 ….no love for us Aussie/Kiwi mopar guys 😮
Opel mid size El Camino, El Camino is Spanish for "the Way ' or the road, kinda looks like Chevelle.
Is it sub frame like a Camaro? Holden Camaro. @1:18

Merry Christmas mate from Australia ( ex KIWI ) .
I think the LS Monaro is the 2door version of a Premier.
Show us some Aussie Fords!
The Fords are coming bud😉😎👍
Not coming to Whakatane by chance?
I will be down in Tauranga on the 27th
GTS could be optioned with a 350 from the factory. Maybe it wasn’t an option in NZ
👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Aussie muscle 💪
It looks like a 3/4 scale cross of an Impala and Gran Prix.
Gts 350 coupe ,muncie 4 speed ,Holden made about 150.
Wow is that all they made? Rare!!
I am the Night Rider...
Size wise, how does a manaro compare with a Nova?
Similar, midsize cars in American terms but considered a large car down under😎👍
Worth a pretty penny there peeps🤑jelly bean mags..
4 speed muncie factory?sagnaw?
👌🏼⛽️✔️
I'll bet kiwi is dying to get back to work..
Just fumigating the mozzies mate.
Slip it in????? HaHaHa.
Those tyres are 10 years out of date lol
A Muncie in a hq? I doubt it. Any four speed cars ( detective cars etc) had the seriously crap Aussie four speed which are woeful and failure prone .
I see the problem with the car. Steering wheel is installed improperly on the wrong side.
Nope it's in the right place lol😂😂😂
Nope, it's on the "right" side.
6x9's!
6x9's ??
Remember Kodak ?
Lovely old cars mate BUT the LS did not get the 350 cu,, ls was the luxury coupe and not regarded as a Monaro,, The 350 chev was limited to the 2 door and 4 door HQ Monaro,,,
Aah the mythical 4 door Monaro ! ( SS sedan ?)
