Wow!! Nice car Kiwi!! It's definitely different but, definitely nice!! Thanks for sharing Kiwi, we also got to see a little bit of the country too!!! Love it!!👍👍👍👍👍
Agree with Chris, Paul did a great job putting his Monaro HQ together. Looks great, sounds badass. Three Pedals Forever! Lovely countryside as well. All the best from Santa Cruz, California.
I am not always the biggest fan of new cars around old shells but this one is really good! Nice to see it race along the highways and byways of the beautiful countryside of New Zealand as well!
I love it! It has elements of the '70 Chevelle in front, '70 Lemans in the front and sides, and '70 Bel Air in the rear bumper! NGL, I'd prefer traditional SBC architecture, but it sure looks like a BBC will fit. Someone's wagon project to the left @7:28. Looks like California down there - but waaaaaaay better!
Greetings from Christchurch, NZ and thank you to Paul and @kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 for a great video. Very nice LS ... Paul has done an excellent job in restoring one of my favourite models, and yes I noticed the handbrake! This is the first time I've seen your channel, and I had to laugh at your references to RHD and sitting on the wrong side. Anyway, you've definitely earned a like AND a subscribe =)
Home for the Holidays? Enjoy! We'll keep the heaters on for ya when you get back to TN. Should be sure-nuf winter by then. I've known that the cars "Down-under" were similar but different from US models. I guess I ought to research these more. Does "Monaro" have a meaning? (heck, does Chevelle have a meaning?) HQ, HG, or whatever? Cuz's car is a beaut! I love the UTEs, I think they would sell like crazy here in the US. I guess the closest "newer" thing we had was the SSR. Save travels!
I've seen a few Qs that have had the late model dash and seats put in them, now. That, with the tilt and telescopic column of the VZ, would certainly be a huge improvement over the original bucket (or bench) seating. It's also one of the only interior swaps that looks right to me - just seems to fit well and in the right proportions with the rest of the interior. The LS would still sound like the 350 given the right exhaust (although the one it has on certainly sings a sweet song!), but she'd certainly percolate along a lot happier and with the six speed and EFI, she'd be economical doing so, comparatively. Love the clean look under the bonnet too, and although I am truly impressed with the level of detail on the rest of the bodywork, I'm a sucker for a vinyl roof on the ol' HQ, eh! Welcome home, Kiwi! Enjoy your stay with us and here's hoping the weather keeps playing nice. All the best.
Remember coming back from working in Australia to nz and thinking ya don't see many HQ Holdens around any more (especially two door ones ) probably because HQ racing destroyed plenty and the rest went to scrap...long story short i tracked down a 4 door HQ factory 308 v8 to add to the collection before they were out of my price range...great to see you appreciate a car for what it is .....even though i own mostly gm brand i really love the classics...of every brand ...great stuff kiwi....😎
Absolutely beautiful car beautiful lines and fantastic craftsmanship on building. I think you said he was your cousin? The car craftsmanship must flow through your family's bloodline. I know we don't have these cars in the States but I sure wish we did it's beautiful and it's a two-door on top of that. I see a lot of four doors from Australia. Thanks for sharing have a nice safe trip
Thanks man, Paul's married to my wife's cousin so don't ask me what that makes it🤔😁. He's a good Kiwi bloke though. The car culture and building your own stuff is a very real and prevalent thing here!! 😎👍
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 I used to be in touch with the club or two in New Zealand. I've always been impressed with the automobile culture in New Zealand
Very cool car, when I first saw it from the front it kinda made me think it was a '68- 69 Chevelle, and the rear then reminded me a little of a '71-'72 Chevelle, and I was surprised to hear it WASN'T a full frame car. But it's definitely very cool.👍
Subtitles bru? 😄 I quite like the LS over the GTS. Essentially a 2 door Premier, not so garish. As you know Kiwi, I'm not a huge fan of restomods, but this is quite nice and tastefully done. It gets my tick of approval (like that means anything) 🤣 Great to see content from NZ street scenes
It looks a lot like the one I owned in the eighties, it was originally brown mettalic and black vinyl roof, and for some reason I decided to paint it Ford Monza Red ( still with the black roof ) , oblivious to realizing it was now in the Mongrel Mob colours, and I was told that they wanted it 😟. It was an LS model , I'm not sure what engine it came with ,probably 253 or 308? , but it had a 400ci Chev and Saginaw 4 speed , it ran really good too, loads of torque.

@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 its buried again lol But will see what I can do and other cars you can look at. I'm just opposite the airfield at Totara for now doing security for the owners. It's a week and a half till the Ngatea show after Christmas. Can catch up in town somewhere for a coffee any time I'm just putting my xr600 back together for the summer.
I used to own a HQ LS Monaro back in the day, and I think this is brilliant!! An LS was in essence just a two door Premier, so I don’t think this car has had anything sacrilegious done to it - on the other hand, if it was a genuine GTS, I might not appreciate it as much.
I am used to American muscle car design but I do like the looks of this one.
It's a good looking car!!
Looks like it has some Pontiac Le mans in it's DNA.. kinda like the Aussie Ford that looks like a mustang and Torino mixed together.
Yes! The two companies are oceans apart but the dna is shared 😁👍😎
Now that's a classic. Personally I like an original. But I would definitely drive it
And priced as such !!!!!
Nice car. Beautiful country

GM U.S. may not have wanted them. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

Me too!!! Thanks for watching!!

Nice one Kiwi, a bit closer to home!!!

Great video!
Looking at this thing its kinda confusing ! Neat ride for sure!
NZ is so beautiful I would love to live there... except for all the rules and regs.
