    18:00 I use "neg" for my negative counts. So "neg one, neg two". Still one syllable. I used to play Magic the Gathering, and I got in the habit of saying neg for certain things in that game, so it felt natural

    I am genuinely suprised of the lack of "Baccarat counting cards" internet consultants in year 2024.... Blackjack counters would be really suprised if they found out how much easier and how much less initial capital is needed for Baccarat

    Great interview, what about walking around to see what dealer if faster and or who offers the best pen, is that something worth spending a few minutes on before sitting down

    Is spreading 2x advised when playing straight up with the dealer? Or only with other players?

    • @A1-BJ
      @A1-BJ  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usually, you pick one or the other and stick with it, especially if you're playing double deck.

      It’s been recently proven that playing one spot is better heads up and playing two spots is better when theirs multiple players at the table when it’s a positive count.

      @@jacksoncurry5633 cool, where did you hear that? What's the reasoning?

    • @jacksoncurry5633
      @jacksoncurry5633 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t recall the original source but unless you can afford to bet more than table max and you need to play several spots in order to get your max out on the felt when playing heads up it ends up eating more cards during high counts and you get less total rounds played at a high count on average decreasing your EV. Colin has a post on it also.

    Two Steps Forward and One Step Back is not the truth. You are just as likely to experience bad variance your entire career, and it can easily be one step forward and two steps back the whole time. Maybe after thousands of hours you can ensure profits, but it does not always happen this way. Blackjack Players and newbies be advised! You can lose it all. All these guys are the lucky ones. The unlucky ones tell no tales.

    • @goesi1

      You can never ensure profit even after a large number of hours, even millions or billions of hours there is still a small chance of failure. But law of large numbers applies and if someone is consistently taking 1 step forward 2 steps back and losing when expected EV is significantly positive they are probably doing something wrong not just unlucky

    Counting down a deck of cards in less than 20 seconds? Really? Show me a game that is THAT fast where this becomes a useful exercise. Also why does anyone care about being off the count by 1 or 2? It does not change your advantage by being off by such a small amount.

    • @huckleberryfinn8795
      @huckleberryfinn8795 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The faster the better. Especially when playing alone. Some dealers are incredibly fast. I started off around 50-55 seconds and now I'm at 21-25 seconds. Took me a few months and I didn't even practice every single day.

    • @HollowTheShiba
      @HollowTheShiba 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Being off on your count… ESPECIALLY in double deck games are going to cost you a lot of money. If you’re off by your count by 2, you could be estimating your True Count off by 2, which is not good by any means. You could EASILY be overbetting your advantage, or underbetting, neither of which is going to help tilt your edge in your favor in the long term.
      Card counting only swings the odds in your favor by a small amount, enough counting mistakes are going to make your “edge” meaningless if you don’t at the very least tryy to strive for perfection.
      Making excuses for it is only going to cause you to be sloppy in the many other aspects of “card counting,” which also require the same amount of attention to detail. If you ever had a vision of working with other people in doing this for serious money, it isn’t going to happen with that mindset. Many teams will consider a counting mistake an automatic failure. They value that over a deck estimation error most times.

      Is it 25 seconds dealing card by card or by 2’s? I can’t even deal that quickly!

    • @roomtemperaturewater8703
      @roomtemperaturewater8703 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For your first point, being able to count as fast as possible ensures you won’t be thrown off by faster dealers. It also generally serves to get as good as you can in all separate aspects of card counting that putting it all together becomes much easier. Estimating decks left, keeping the count, knowing basic and deviations like the back of your hand, etc. Having near-mastery in all individual skills makes you better at the aforementioned than only being proficient or sufficient at them.
      Second, much of your EV comes in high counts at the end of each shoe. Small errors in your running count are exacerbated by low remaining card count in the shoe.
      You only gain about a 2% edge against the house when card counting is done perfectly. You throw this edge away when you insist that being off on the count, even in small margins, is okay.
      It takes about 200 hours for a dedicated learner to become proficient in all aspects of counting. Even more than that to be ready to play in a casino with distractions and real stakes. Making sure everything is as perfect as possible is an absolute must.
