Randy worked for DEI and builds these motors out of his shop which is behind his house. When we raced back in the late 2000’s to 2012 we had one. I went to Randy’s shop in China grove to pick it up. Pretty cool place. But first night we ran the 430 we had we broke the track record at Dixie speedway here in Georgia. Overton won a few races with a Randy Clarey engine in weavers car. It’s a runner. You won’t be down on motor anymore, my prediction is the Clarey will end up being your favorite out of all the ones you have.
Moving up in the world. what a beautiful thing. Joseph Now, you walk in and claim the title.. Fingers crossed, that engine is all cracked up to be what it is.. You Got this.. Believe in You...
The engine looks great. The HP you have been needed for a while. More success on the way. Proud of you guys. Keep on being grounded and humble. You guys are doing things the right way. I see a win coming soon. Maybe this weekend at Southern Raceway. Good Luck and God Speed.
Take some white or silver touch up paint and paint in the lettering on the valve covers. If you get outside the lines, just take a razor blade and scrape excess paint off. Makes it look professional. Used to do it on mid plates. Works like a charm!
Howdy guys listen hey take your carburetor back off and put a level on your plate and Jack the car back up to where it is level and then check your floats should be set right in the middle of the glass like you would just be running a regular carburetor don't be setting them higher or low just set them in the middle... Good luck guys
Randy also worked for Alan Kulwicki as a builder. He’s as good as any of the rest. I’d pick his or a Vic Hill engine any day! Hook the car up and the engine will do it’s part.
It was explained to me (back in the '60s!) that the wedge is to make up for the centrifugal force around the turn that pushes the fuel to the right side of the float bowl. This lets gravity partly make up for it. I suspect that a clear float bowl would reveal fuel sloshing all over the place on a dirt track.
Get a small level ( digital) and check the drive pulley, then the pump pulley, then the angle of the belt. The angle should all be the same and in line. Bless yall. Can't wait to see yall in Bristol and eldora
Looks good, and sounds like y'all should have boost in hp with it. Might be a great candidate for Eldora as well. Really like the fact that y'all are taking 2 complete cars to Bristol. Can't wait to hear the new beast!
Awesome engine that’s going to help out for sure on the ponies and Joseph I know can’t wait to get it out on the track good luck crew this weekend at southern..😎
Think engine has LESS HP than the other SB2 because this one won't be turned as many RPM. Big cubes means big torque. Less responsive in a way but possibly easier to spin the tires. I hope they got some recommendations from Clary about torque arm/5th coil settings.
Joseph is so lucky that step drill didn't grab @ 5:28 and super slice his hand making that shim. gotta use your head dude. or no racing for a couple weeks.

I noticed another comment and when they mentioned valve springs that is true valve springs get weak sitting in the same place hopefully it's all good for you guys thanks for sharing this one with us
If it's been sitting for 2 years the valve springs are weak from sitting in the same spot ..... Have had it happen a few times just from sitting over the winter 🤷♂️
Since it was at the builders I'd expect he knows what's best. Not saying you are wrong. I think they said in this video only has 21 laps? But I get what you are saying. Probably good idea to back off the valve adjustment/remove rockers on ones open when engine is setting for a long time. Good tip.

No they don't even with the size of that motor it's still down 40 to 60hp down The top motor guys build a 438ci wide bore motor with more 50hp and about 60 pounds of torque that motor is old plus it set in a shop floor for 3 years that should tell you something.
Even I can get behind an engine with a DEI logo on it. I saw Dale run a Ford 6 cylinder (yes I did) at Metrolina Speedway in the early 70's. Even spent time with Dale and Richard C. several years later. Great guy. Good luck...you finally have the HP to compete.
If that engine has been sitting for a few years like you said. I hope you do not have valve spring problems. You know that some of those springs have been on the lift of cam. Putting more pressure on then.which could make then weaker that those not on the lift. Hope you do not have a problem.
With the super bowl carb you don't need an angled spacer It dumps even fuel That's the design of it Call Willy and talk to him He's a super good guy and will help you with anything And he's the man who designed it

That engine should be a game changer . The extra HP is a good upgrade. Might ought to carry a few extra rear Quarter panels to Bristol , (HP + Joseph = Quarter Panels ) 😀 just picking at Him .
God bless ya guys. All Joseph has been needing is a few more ponies to run up front he has the talent equal to anyone on the track and more than most. JESUS LIVES

I hope you guys finally have enough motor to run with those big boys. Go get it HTF!!!
You can call the new car and engine combo "Betty and the Beast"👍
Boy Jesse will definitely be. Staying up front now. With a little weight reduction...
Giveum the good stuff...
Heck yeah big engine big cob = big results dang good driver and crew let's get Bristol baby
The super bowl setup carb takes some time to switch fuel lines over and replacing the check valve and fittings in the fuel cell
Take some white or silver touch up paint and paint in the lettering on the valve covers. If you get outside the lines, just take a razor blade and scrape excess paint off. Makes it look professional. Used to do it on mid plates. Works like a charm!
Good job and work finding this engine and getting it the car. Lets go HTF!!!

Way to go on getting some real motivatal power. Y'all have some serious cubic inches now and can run with the best. Stay safe.

That particular motor is pretty old and it only made high 800's were as Randy Clary's new stuff is 930hp.

BIG HP required y’all are doing great things. 🏁
Not big enough for Bristol
Looking great
Should prolly check the axles in the rear end that came out of the 1 car since he baja'ed it through the infield
The DEI on the valve covers should be good for an extra 50 hp. Cubes are a good thing at Bristol.
