Thank you so much for instructing me on how to use my se600. You remind me of my grandfather. He taught my mom to sew and when I was 8 he sat me down at his trundle machine and taught me. He was an extraordinary sewer. He made all the clothes for his 6 kids and helped my mom make my clothes for school. I grew up thinking all men sewed because of him. He would have loved machine embroidery, he did his by hand and he taught me and my mom.
HELLO TO YOU FROM BRASIL 👋🤗🙋👋🤗!!!!! It is a pleasure to have you BRASIL to leave a comment. When the time is right and can purchase the Brother SE625, you’re going to love it. Truly, it is an awesome sewing and embroidery machine. Brother did a good job with this model. If and when when you do have the sewing machine, I only wish you the best in all the future projects. Thank you for taking your valuable time out watching my video. Have an awesome week and stay safe😎
Thank you for the step by step!! Most videos don't give super easy instructions like you just did. I was wondering why my top thread kept breaking...it was fed wrong. Thanks again!!
Casey, so sorry you’re having an upper thread breakage issues 😔. I can ensure you there isn’t a problem with the Brother sewing machine -100%. So, don’t panic or worry that something may be wrong with your sewing machine. Too many people go to the shop and pay for this same issue only to find out it is not the sewing machine problem. Rather, the thread isn’t properly threaded or other human errors causing upper thread breakages. Before I recorded for this review, I too had the same issue. How I came about solving was by replacing the threads with a better quality, it was a fixed. There are too many types of quality threads to choose from, some are so cheap and others not to bad or too expensive. So, buying threads is a trial and error learning experience. Anyhow, changing the thread quality made a difference. I’ll do my best in hopes solving this issue for you. Not in a particular order. A guide to most common issues. And I spaced it out for easy reading and to the point. 1. Tension First, it’s known to check the upper tension, it may be too tight. If so, you may what to loosen the tension and do a test stitch on a scrape fabric. (Note) Lower tension number = less thread tension. The higher the number, more tension on the thread. 2. Rethread / Pressure Foot Before you thread / rethread the machine, make sure your pressure foot is “LIFETED” -not placed down. I am sure you had followed the guide numbers where to start and finish. But, at the point where the thread goes up into the tension disk, around, and back down, you should here a click. If you hear a slight click going around the tension disk -good job. Lower the pressure foot and thread the needle. (Note) Make sure to hold one end of the thread near the thread spool as you guiding the other end of the thread through the machine. Reason for holding the one of the thread so the other end isn’t too loose but tight as it goes through the tension disk. Make sense? Before using the auto threader bring the pressure foot back down. The pressure foot in the down position after guiding the thread through the machine (before threading the needle) ensures the tension disk is locked in placed. To test the threads has been properly inserted correctly in between the disk, try to pull on the end of the thread as the pressure foot is in the down position. If the thread doesn’t move or budge by pulling on it, it is threaded into the disk properly. Now thread the needle. 3. Needle and thread Change out your needle. Needle only good for 6 to 7 hours of sewing. Change the type of thread your using. Cheap thread will break on any type of sewing machines. Check to see if the needle isn’t damaged. A damaged needle will absolutely cause thread breakages. (Note) Thread must match needle type. Example: If thread is too thick for a small needle whole it will break. I’m sure you’re using the right size thread and needle, but doesn’t hurt to check. Also, needle type is a must for the type of fabric you’re sewing on. Make sure your needle is the correct type for the type of fabric. Jeans? Use a heavy weight needle. Here is a link to the types of needles and it’s usages. schmetzneedles.com/sewing-machine-needle-color-code-chart 4. Fiber & Cleaning Around Bobbin Case Clean any left over fiber inside the bobbin case. Your Brother came with a cleaning brush and that is to be use to clean inside the bobbin case. Take out the bobbin and remove the needle plate by unscrewing the two screws. Brother provides a small metal screwdriver. (Placed the screws into a jar so you don’t loose them) Once the bobbin and needle plate has been removed, take your time removing any fiber buildup using the brush tool. If you have a small hand vac, use it along side with the brush tool. (Note) If you don’t have a hand vac, I highly recommend getting an inexpensive one, it will save you time and ensuring all the fibers inside the bobbin area has been cleaned. I hope this info may solve the upper thread from breaking. Again, if you try any of the recommendations in order or selectively by random and thread is still breaking, I would go back and play with the upper tension which is located on the top of the brother machine -it’s that small dial. Please let me know if the problem had been resolved. I will do my best getting back -if needed. Otherwise, Thank you for taking your valuable time out to watch my video. Have an awesome day! Stay safe.
Thank you! Dude, I’m still fascinated with your patches, great job once again👍 Yeah, it is quite a workhorse. However, I am no longer a Brother fan due to their impracticality in creating multiple versions of the same sewing and embroidery machines by only changing a few module letters or numbers, which does not help the environment. Putting that aside, I will say the Brother SE625 will outpace the PP1 any day for less money. Any of the Brother SE models (there are so many) with a hoop size of 4x4 or 5x5 have more capability than the PP1 for what you’ve been attempting. Additionally, there are third-party metal magnet hoops available. Plus, no app is required with any of the SE models. Trust me, the app will become tiresome down the road. Is the SE625 perfect? Absolutely not. But the pros outweigh the cons. I've been watching your PP1 videos and believe you can find something better than the PP1. No matter how much you tune, adjust the tension (which hardly works), or try different stabilizers, the PP1 does not perform well due to the app translating the embroidery file to the machine, and the tension is always off. As I mentioned on your channel, I had three PP1s and all of them created bird nests most of the time. The app is terrible at translating the file before sending it to the machine, and the tension knob offers very little tension to amount to anything. I’m not sure what your budget is, but if you can get your hands on an SE625 for between $300 to $400, that is a good deal. Hi Lou. I was meant to find your channel today. I just purchased the Kitchen Aid Convection Oven that you reviewed in a previous video. I decided to see what other videos you had reviewed, and I couldn’t believe that you had a review for this sewing machine. My husband just bought this exact machine for me last week for my birthday. I haven’t even taken it out of the box yet. I’m going to watch your video now, and see if I’m going to keep it or not. What a coincidence. Thank You
Rochelle, I replied to your comment in my KitchenAid video. And again, congratulations 🥳 . Or, should I say, congratulations as well on your new Brother SE625 sewing machine 👏 -lol! Your hubby is so AWESOME! As I stated in this video, Brother SE625 is an amazing budget (until price gouge hit the market) friendly combo sewing and embroidery machine. Newbie, light novelist, or experience sewing, you’re going to be pleased how awesome this small and somewhat light weight brother performs. I highly recommend to read and follow the manual before attempting to sew. Another advice, please use the correct needles and threads for the type of fabrics you going to sew with. Common sewing issues of threads breaking, bird nest (threads bushed together top or bottom of fabric,) skip stitches, and tensions too loose or tight is mostly caused from incorrect needles and threads. Always replaced the needle after serval hours of sewing or embroidering. Tension? Brother SE625 default tension setting is set to 4. No need to change it unless it is really necessary. Default 4 works great on most sewing projects. Yes, the tension settings is on top of the sewing machine, it is the tension dial labeled from 0-7. You do have the tension option to make changes in the LCD touch screen panel. But, I would keep it at default unless it is necessary to make minor changes. Small explanation for needle size and additional information link: madetosew.com/what-size-sewing-machine-needle/ Note: Before you start embroidery, check your bobbin. What to make sure there is enough bobbin thread to complete the project. Any of the design stitches, I highly recommend to use a tear away or wash away stabilizers . Also, I highly recommend, “Boricua Sewing & Crafts.” Boricua has tons of videos that may help with your sewing and embroidery needs. She is awesome. Plain and simple, she is down to earth. Although, she will demonstrate sewing and embroidery using the Brother SE1900, but you still can apply her techniques with your new Brother SE625. I am so excited as I just bought mine 3 hours ago. Thank you for how you show setting this machine up. I just turned 66 and it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I was in a jam because my Kenmore of 47 years old gave up the ghost at 2:00 a.m. this morning as I am making Face Masks due to the Covid 19 Virus. These Face Masks are going to the Huntington WV VA Medical Center. I have made several for the Women's Domestic Violence Shelter and Dollar General as well as shipped them to Kentucky, Indiana and Texas. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO Much. You will never know how much this helped. God Bless, Margaret in West By God Virginia.
Wow! I can’t express enough the deep gratitude after reading your comment. It brought tears to my eyes. You’re amazing and well blessed for taking the time to give back to your communities. I fully understand making masks is time consuming, but at the same time it’s rewarding when doing it for others who are in need, thank you for doing so. Compared to the once faithful Kenmore, the Brother SE625 will be a joy and breeze when making masks. And, after this unforsaken virus is finally over, please continue using your new Brother to make other projects, you will be surprised what else you can do for others. It’s never too late to teach or learn new tricks, you’re still young enough to create and bring happiness to all you meet, I thank God for people like yourself who can find the time to give back. Age is just a number, it’s all about where the heart and mind are! Again, thank you for the beautiful comment. May Joy, Peace, and Happiness be with you in all you do! God bless and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Just a thought, when you fill your bobbin fast it will stretch the thread, this causing your material to pucker as you sew. Do be aware of this and know it’s not the tension. Great machine, love 💕 mine so much.
Thanks for the informative video. I have been looking at different models made by Brother and your video is the first one I was able to find will all the information and demonstration. I appreciate what you have done here and it has made me decide to go forward and purchase the Brother se625 model. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the awesome comment. Do note, because of the coronavirus, Brother SE625 and many other brand models are out of stock. At this time, I would say, finding a sewing machine around this price point is going to be hard to come by. I do hope you will find one! Again, Thank you for the comment! Lou Rao

Thank you so much for your review and demonstrations. I purchased the Brother SE600 last summer on Amazon. I believe it is identicle to the SE625, but comes with fewer accessories. I love the machine! I've only used it for basic sewing so far, and it really performs great. The only issues I have had were "user error" problems, and I am working them out. Your video has cleared up some of my problems and I understand more how to use it. I plan on diving into the embroidery part once I master the sewing a little bit better. This video is the best one so far I have watched on this Brother, and I feel a little intimidated to try out the embroidery. Thanks again!
Awesome! The brother SE600 & SE625 is identical. SE625 is made inclusive for Walmart. Once you dig into the embroidery mode and practice, practice, and practice going to be a piece of cake. A little side note: If, only if, the thread starts to break, make sure to rethread with the presser foot is in the up position and the thread is inserted snug between the tension disk. Thread still breaks? Replace thread for a better quality embroidery and bobbin threads. Both upper and bobbin brand, quality, and thickness size threads must match. Congrats and please share any projects from your sewing machine -love to see!!! Lou Rao

The trick getting around the small hoop size is to embroidered in pieces, section by section. I'm still looking for this at Walmart. I know its $380 but saw it for $1200 from a third party on there. Thats a huge increase from the original price. I'm sure there raising prices because of the pandemic and demand for sewing machines. Since alot are new to sewing they are getting ripped off.
Oh my, how correct you are, “RIPPED OFF 😢 !” Sad to say, most vendors have been price gauging and may not end soon. Yes, there is a limitation for mid price range sewing machines, but that does mean greed is the alternative for over pricing these items. My advice and will always be, don’t give into their madness of greed buying an over priced sewing machine. If the option is available to borrow from a family member or friend, that is a route. Or, visit a local mom and pop retailers, they most likely will not be priced gauging. Another additional to the Brother SE600 is the Brother PE550D. This Brother PE550D sells for around $499 new, www.sewingmachinesplus.com/pe550d.php The PE550D is the same sewing and embroidery machine as the SE600. But, because of the Disney licensing agreement with Brother, consumers will pay a little more for this model. At least, the PE550D is not $1,200! Something to consider. Also, I am not sponsored or being paid from Sewing Machine Plus. My advised is directly taking the time out in the hopes helping folks like your self to save and prevent from getting scammed. Thank you for taking your valuable time out to watch my video. Have An Awesome Day & Stay Safe!
Happy Saturday 🌞. Not sure if I understand your question? But, I will try to answer. No matter where your designs are coming from, built-in from the Brother or USB drive image downloaded from an embroidery website, it is all the same steps. If the image has multiple colors, Brother will stitch each color one at a time. Let’s say the first color has been stitched, the sewing machine will pause for you to change the thread (Sewing machine auto cuts the thread before it stops embroidery). Lift the pressure foot up, change the thread, place pressure foot level down and the green light on the auto start button will come on. Then press the green light on the start button. Another example: If your pattern is only one color and you want to change thread colors during the embroidery time, stop the machine, press the automatic cutter button, lift the pressure foot, change the thread, bring the pressure foot back down, and click the green light on the start button. Also, LCD panel will display each color thread needed for the image pattern. The display will show in order each color thread that is being stitched, the number of stitches for each color, and the time. I hope this was the answer you were looking for. Thank you for taking your valuable time watching my video. Have an awesome weekend and stay safe😎
Hi, sorry for any inconvenience with the back / reverse stitch you may be having. First, the back or reverse stitch function is for securing your stitches. The back or reverse stitch function is normally used at the beginning of a stitch and at the end. You would not used the reverse stitch for any other purpose other than securing the first and last stitch if that makes sense. As to the reverse stitch working try this: Select straight stitch from the LED menu screen. place fabric under the pressure foot about two inches from top (enough room for practice purposes only.) Lower the pressure foot. If foot pedal is connected to sewing machine don’t step on it. At this point, place your figure on the reverse button and press it to start the reverse stitch, don’t let go until the stitching reaches to the top of fabric. If all goes well, your reverse stitch function is working. If not, recommend to have the sewing machine service at a reputable sewing shop. I hope this helps and answers your issues with the reverse stitch. Don’t hesitate for additional help and will do my best getting back. Thank you for taking your valuable time to watch my video. Have an awesome day and stay safe!
Truly understand. This is available from some resellers or privately individuals online shops price gauging. It's a shame to see greedy sellers are asking for the Brother SE625 when Walmart had the original price around $380.00, in stock. Anyhow, I did my best to check around and was hoping to find the sewing machine in stock around Walmart's price, but nothing. Hi Ms. SDS, Awesome on your new Brother SE625. You're going to love how well the new sewing machine sews and embroidery. I have owned the SE625 for about a year and haven't looked back. Although, I have a Puff Creative Pro, Juki 600, Two Singer models, and a Brother 1500D, and most of the time will go back to the SE625. Besides how easy it is to sew with the Brother, I love most how it handles any type of threads I put through this machine. Again, I hope you enjoy many years with your new Brother. Any question please don't hesitate to contact me and will do my best getting back to you. Have an awesome day!
@@LouRao Thank you, I do have a question, after experimenting with the Se625, I find that it is fun to work with!! but today my upper thread is breaking, the needle that came with it got bent, so im not sure if I have an embroidery needle in there or a regular sewing needle. I can't see the writing on the needle, I'll have to find my other pair of eyes lol, but what could be breaking my thread? My tension is set to three. BTW, I own two singers, a sailrite LSZ 1, a juki 2000q1 and a cheap costway that sews pretty dang good to my surprise! I thought I was obsessed to own so many machines but I'm glad I'm not alone! 😊.
@@MsSds1965 Hi, Sorry for delay. Internet access at hotel was horrible and had to wait to get back from trip. Anyhow, A few things may be happening with thread breaking. First, it’s not the sewing machine. Please forgive me providing you with some elementary answers, seems you are experience sewer. First, check the top and bottom of your thread spool. Some spools if not all, have a nick at the edge or not smooth around the edge of it, this will cause the thread to break (Always.) If so, reverse the spool or use a larger spool cap to prevent the thread getting caught on to the nick. Second, when threading your machine be sure to keep the lifter foot in the up position -always. If the pressure foot is lying flat on top of feed dog during threading, you will always have thread breaks. Why, before threading, when the foot is in the down position the tension disks is locked into place and the thread will not feed through or in between the disks whereby, causing the thread to always break. Third, Check your needle. Needle must match the type of fabric you’re sewing with. Although, this may not seem to be the main issue or why your thread is breaking but an improper needle will cause the thread to break. I believe the most common mistakes why the upper thread breaks are two common problems we all make, nicks on the spool or pressure foot not in the up position before threading. If for some reason, you have done these check steps and thread is still breaking then change out the thread and the same goes for the bobbin. Lastly, I would had mention to be sure the feed dog and bobbin area is clean from any lint, but your machine is brand new and no reason to do so. Also, after troubleshooting keep the tension at default. This SE625 model is pretty good with the tension settings at default. No need to change the settings or play with it. Changing the tension settings can cause issues or it will sew perfectly. I hope this helps. -Lou
@@LouRao Thank-you very much for the info, and you could NEVER explain it too simple for me. I have a philosophy, KISS (keep it simple stupid) referring to myself, lol, so thanks for that, and I finally found out why it was breaking, you were right, I had a medium spool cap on the end when I should've had the large cap on it cause the thread was getting caught in the grooves, thanks so much Mr. Rao 😊👍
The Brother SE625 goes for around $380.00. DON”T BUY it from eBay!! eBay sellers are over selling this model knowing it is out of stock at must retailers or on back order. Again, stay away from these sellers on eBay -RIP OFF! Second, as stated, this model and many other models or brands are out of stock or on back order, because many people purchased sewing machines to make mask. Walmart shows one in stock (Online.). I can’t say how reliable this inventory may be, but I would give it a try from the time commenting on this post today. Only received 1 pressure foot. I called Brother support and they rudely refused to help resolve the issue. I won't be guilty of buying another Brother product.
Oh no. That really stinks 😱! I think you purchased new item but ended up to be a open boxed. I would return or exchange it from a new one. Yes, if you purchased on eBay -RETURN IT. Or, I highly recommend to contact Brother again and request a supervisor to resolved the missing parts. Also, I’m not backing up Brother by any means, but I too had to deal with rude customer service from Singer and Husqvarna Viking. After making a big purchased for the Epic 980 “$$$$” you would think I would had better treatment -NOT. It wasn’t until I pushed for a supervisor to solved my issues. So yeah, things happen and hope you can resolved the issues. Wishing you only the best to get this solved. Thank you for taking your valuable time out watching my video. Have an awesome day & stay safe.😎

Thanks for your explaining how to use the machine. Great instructor.
Awwwe that beautiful ❤

@@LouRao thank you for your words,God bless you 🙏🙏😊😊😘😘
Thank you for the step by step!!
1. Tension
First, it’s known to check the upper tension, it may be too tight. If so, you may what to loosen the tension and do a test stitch on a scrape fabric.
(Note) Lower tension number = less thread tension. The higher the number, more tension on the thread.
2. Rethread / Pressure Foot
Before you thread / rethread the machine, make sure your pressure foot is “LIFETED” -not placed down.
3. Needle and thread
Change out your needle.
Here is a link to the types of needles and it’s usages.
schmetzneedles.com/sewing-machine-needle-color-code-chart
4. Fiber & Cleaning Around Bobbin Case
Clean any left over fiber inside the bobbin case.
Stay safe.
Man, this machine looks like it blows the Skitch Away!! I realize its 4 years old, but great
video!
Here are a few links to the product or similar:

This Brother PE550D sells for around $499 new, www.sewingmachinesplus.com/pe550d.php
The PE550D is the same sewing and embroidery machine as the SE600.
Wow, you have many kinds of sewing machine ? Nice!
Thank you!
Soooo Welcome! And Thank you!
You need to change your foot and add The embroidery attachment
counterclock wise
Thank you for the correction 😎
How do you after started embroidery change thread how to get it to finish the rest of the design
I don’t understand how the reverse stitch works. I don’t want to think that there is a defect.
I want one of this machines too but it all over priced and hard to fine any recommendations?
Truly understand. This is available from some resellers or privately individuals online shops price gauging. It's a shame to see greedy sellers are asking for the Brother SE625 when Walmart had the original price around $380.00, in stock. Anyhow, I did my best to check around and was hoping to find the sewing machine in stock around Walmart's price, but nothing. I'm sorry for you and everyone else looking for this but normal price availability isn't there. Please, don't buy from ANYONE selling the Brother SE625 for anything over $400.00, it is not worth it. Be patient. In do time, Walmart and other retailers will have it back in stock at the normal price.
Thank you for the taking the time to watch my videos and hope you had subscribed to my TH-cam channel. Take care and have an awesome day! -Lou
PS: If I do find the Brother SE625 I will let you know. If you find one, please update me.
@@LouRao Thank you for your reply and a nice video. I did want it so bad when I first saw it but now I'll wait. I did subscribe also we are Floridian :)
@@maisoongka You’re so welcome! Understood, the Brother SE625 is a remarkable sewing machine. Going back last Christmas, sales were down, could not giveaway the SE625. Fact, only one TH-cam video was available -besides mine. Seven months later, everyone wants the Brother SE625 -go figure. Anyhow, awesome to see you will wait for the price drop before shelling out your hard earned money to those greedy sellers who are price gauging.
Otherwise, I may have another solution. Think about getting the Brother SE1900? In the next coming weeks or sooner, I will be presenting the Brother SE1900. Compared to the SE625, the SE1900 is more robust and packed with more options such as a larger embroidery hoop. SE1900 sews sideways!! How awesome is that! I purchase the SE1900 only to do a presentation, but kept it. That is how much I’m in love with this new sewing machine. The price for the SE1900 is not gauge! Fact, the price has been the same since last year. Yes, the SE1900 is a little more expensive compared to the SE625, but there are major differences to the two models that justifies price difference. And, with good credit plus interest free, finance is an option. Some retailers selling with free shipping and tax free for Florida residents. Links below if interested. Remember, I am not affiliated with or sponsored by any of the retailers, I get no kickback. My time and effort to help others is straight from my heart.
As you may notice, I haven’t posted any crafting or sewing related videos lately because of social distancing. My camera support team not available to assist and videos taking longer to produce. In the meantime, as I work through this, the Brother SE1900 and a comparison of two heavy duty sewing machines will be posted soon. So, keep an eye out for upcoming videos.
Awesome you’re in Florida too! As I am typing this the rain hasn’t stop. The gates of heaven is pouring on us!! Lol. Yes, the weather has been cool lately. I been long waiting for the heat to move on -lol. Please update me. Let me know if you decided on getting the SE1900 or will wait for the the price to drop down on the SE625. Otherwise, THANK YOU for subscribing. And thank you for your comments too! Take care and be safe my friend! -Lou

Thank you it's helpful but after # 7 it's hard for me. I can't figure out 😡

Thank you so much for your respond. I figure out🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@TheTsga12 That is AWESOME! Pleased to hear you have figure it out. Take care.
Hello Mr. Lou, I JUST purchased this machine, how long have you had your machine?
@@MsSds1965 Hi,
Sorry for delay.
Rao 😊👍
@@MsSds1965 "KISS (keep it simple stupid)" I LOVE IT! Happy to see the problem solved.
What is the price of the machine? Please tell me
The Brother SE625 goes for around $380.00.
Here is the link:

@@BinnySharma. Very Welcome! Hope you find what your looking for. Thank you!
You really need to have yourJ foot on for straight stitching not your N foot.

@@ttsmith2036 Sorry to hear that. Return it from where you made the purchased. If a problem with your return, contact your credit card and file a dispute.
